  • "Loved our stay thanks to the incredible location but there were a few sticking points for us."

The smell of the shower drain in the bathroom was really quite overpowering, regardless of use and regardless of the window. We had to swap a few light bulbs around as the bedside light didn't have a bulb? In addition, there are only 2 sockets in the bedroom so it would have been great to have some sort of extension lead so we didn't have to charge devices in a different room if we wanted to use the bedside lights. Given the great stock of kitchen items and tea/coffee facilities, it would have also been a nice touch to include the basics like olive oil for cooking. Similarly, it is great that there is a dishwasher in the property but only one singular tablet was provided. Overall though the stay was pleasant and the location is second to none.

Hi Mr Cox, we spoke on the phone just now to go through your feedback - a handyman was sent round as soon as you left to deal with the drain smell (so sorry that occurred whilst you’re were staying, we’ve never had that before); there is a whole bag of spare bulbs in the sitting room sideboard, it mentions this in the guest handbook - sorry that the cleaner hadn’t changed these before you came, I’ve highlighted this as a check for them going forwards; there is an extension cord under the bed which the lamp is usually plugged into - allowing for a free socket for phone chargers etc - the cleaner must have unplugged it as it was there when I inspected after your feedback; I’m glad you enjoyed the tea and coffee making free facilities - and your box of welcome fudge I hope also - there should have been olive oil and two dishwasher tablets left for you, again this is a check that I have already previously asked the cleaner to do and let me know when stocks are running low, both oil and tablets are now replaced for guests to use. Very glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise. Property Owner

  • "The property was good, except for a few issues: the sink kept blocking, and we needed to use the plunger regularly."

The fridge did not keep the food properly chilled and several items went off. The bathroom lock was very stiff and if you didn't manage to lock it, the door would sometimes swing open. The door of the bedroom with the double bed didn't close properly. Also the chairs in the garden were covered in cobwebs and had to be cleaned before we could use them.

Thanks very much for your feedback, we just spoke on the phone so I could clarify some of the issues you mentioned and I’ll now send round the handyman to fix everything you discussed. Sorry to hear about these niggles - we’ve never had any of these before. Hope you had a lovely time otherwise. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was fab and I would book to stay again."

It was comfortable, with luxurious fittings and decorated to a high standard. It was located in the perfect spot - very close to all the facilities in Dartmouth but also so quiet. There were a couple of things missing that I would generally use - oven gloves and a small microwave. It was only noticeable because we decided to eat in a few times. A mirror in the bedroom close to a socket would be useful for hairdrying too. Otherwise everything has been thought of - even night lights or are they night torches?

Hi Miss Read! Thanks so much for your lovely review, I’m super pleased you had a great stay and enjoyed Secret Garden! Regarding the few bits you mentioned - there should be oven gloves there, I’ll make sure they’re replaced asap! Will also be bringing a mirror to install next time I’m there. Thanks again and you’re very welcome back any time! Property Owner
