"Our third visit"
-
"We loved the very central location of the property in the heart of Dartmouth."
The outside space was exactly what we wanted, our dog could roam in and out, and we could sit outside for breakfast or a few drinks in the evening. The decor and facilities were fab, once you negotiated the steep staircase, everything was on one level. We would highly recommend this place.

"Had a great week staying at Simples, it had everything we needed and the outdoor space was great."
I would state, anyone with mobility issues may struggle with the steps up to the apartment.
-
"This is the second time we stayed here as it is in an ideal secluded location."
A few minor maintenance issues need fixing as they were there last year.

"I found Sykes a real problem to communicate with."
Messages or WhatsApp took at least a day to be replied to, and it's quite impossible to speak to a human on the phone. After arriving and getting the local office details, all was great. We had an electrical issue at the start of our holiday but the local office dealt with it really quickly and made repairs while we were out, and we had no further problems during our stay. Simples was perfect for us and our dog. We loved it there. It has been finished to a high standard, is well equipped and comfortable. It is right in the centre of town and convenient for just about everything. The small courtyard garden is a real bonus. Be aware it is very close to a lovely old church, with a chiming clock. This really didn't bother us and we slept really well, but it could bother some. Also the entrance stairs are fairly steep, but again this wasn't an issue for us. In fact we didn't want to leave, and are already thinking about booking Simples again for next year.

"Lights fused on the first night, electrician attended within an hour, settee in lounge needs replacing, springs in middle gone, back door very hard to open and close if not sorted could be a problem, no black bags for rubbish as promised( co op expensive) , does not state unsuitable for people with walking difficulties in advert, these are just a few small things but overall a very nice apartment in the center of a lovely town that if I got a bit fitter I would book again."

What a lovely cottage in a perfect location and we brought our dog who loved the garden great that tv in all rooms great kitchen with all mod cons

"This is a delightful property in central Dartmouth and we were so grateful to be able to have our dog with us."
The description IS accurate and the stairs to the apartment ARE very steep with narrow treads, but the property itself is spacious, clean and with all items needed for catering for 4 people. Minor recommendations: we might suggest that the back door be looked at - it sticks badly, and the armchair needs valeting. A footstool would be a welcome addition if we were being really honest. But, quite frankly, it's a lovely property and we are very happy to recommend to others and we would definitely love to stay there again.

"Lovely apartment in a perfect location."
Very well equipped & spotlessly clean. The outside covered terrace was perfect to enjoy the views & protect us from the typically British wet weather! Looking forward to staying at Simples again & enjoying beautiful Dartmouth.

"We very much enjoyed our stay Sept 23."
Because both bedrooms had double beds, the space around them was limited. However, the living space was great and the outdoor area was very nice. We were unfortunate to experience an internet dropout, this being no fault of the owner. We did find the blu-ray player integrated in a small tv in a bedroom, not much use really. What maybe should be pointed out, is wheelchair access is not possible, having climbed the 18 steps from the street door. Finally, we were able to show an old lady around the flat, with a view to renting in the future, she very much enjoyed the opportunity. Regards. Billy

"Lovely dog-friendly property."
Great central location.
-
"Great property for us with everything we need and so close to Dartmouth's amenities, thats why we have booked again for next year."
A few minor maintenance jobs need looking at but not enough to wory about.
-
"Property exceeded our expectations."
Flat was light and airy, beds very comfortable. Roof terrace a lovely sun trap which we used most days in between our daytime activities and evenings. Really central location.
-
"Great central location only minutes to everything Dartmouth has to offer ."
The apartment has a beautiful roof terrace and is well planned and extremely comfortable. We would highly recommend “ Simples “ to anyone wishing to visit Dartmouth. Thank you for such an enjoyable stay. Alan.

"A wonderful apartment in a great location, thanks."
-
"Really lovely flat with excellent outdoor space that is dog safe."
Great position near shops, cafes etc. parking is not far - 5 minute walk. Possibly too near the church as the bells chime every hour - through the night as well
-
"Simples is a fabulous apartment in a great location It is tastefully furnished & really well equipped & comfortable."
Outside space is lovely too which we hope to use next time we visit in September when the weather will be warmer hopefully. Definitely recommend Simples, thank you for a lovely stay

"This was our second time staying a Simples which speaks for itself."
It probably won't be our last. The property has all you need and is ideally situated within Dartmouth; everything is on your door step. You can forget the car and relax.
-
"Very good accommodation in excellent setting - at the heart of Dartmouth."
Within metres of some of the town's oldest buildings and pubs but still a quiet location. Roof top garden was brilliant and relaxing. Close to ferries and buses which meant we could park the car - about four mins walk from flat - and not use it for the rest of the week.
-
"We arrived after a 7 hour train journey, bus and ferry in a downpour around 7pm with our dog."
There was no heating and unfortunately it is controlled by a pin no.. the property was cold. There was a terrible smell of damp dog in the lounge and kitchen, then discovered underneath the cushions of the sofa clumps of dog hair, crumbs, it was dirty. The next day we ventured outside. On the garden seat were 3 large bags of rubbish? This area needed attention as some of the plasterboard on the wall was coming away. We had to ask for a tea towel. Coast and Country Cottages did a re clean which was necessary and took the lounge rug away which was dirty. The central heating was not on in the evening. This was my first booking with Sykes Cottages, and my first unacceptable booking. I hope the owners do read this feedback because the price they are asking for one week is a joke.

"Fabulous property."
Big enough for 3 adults and a dog. Everything you could want. Lovely to have the outside space. Will definitely be back.
-
"Would highly recommend staying at Simples."
The location is fantastic, so close to everything but also lovely and quiet. The outdoor space is a wee piece of heaven and great for either eating in or just having a place to chill outside. The weather was hot and sunny during our stay and we spent a lot of time in the garden, it was just idyllic and so peaceful. Inside we found the apartment spotlessly clean and had all the accessories and amenities we required. The beds were comfortable and the shower was powerful...just what you need for a great holiday. Having the parking permit was also a great benefit, we pretty much parked up the car when we arrived and didn't use it again until we left.

"We had a lovely holiday and enjoyed our stay at Simples."
Dartmouth is beautiful and a perfect base for exploring Devon.
-
"We love this little cottage apartment."
It’s the perfect bolt hole for a wonderful Dartmouth stay. The main attraction for us is the fabulous garden as it gets the sun almost all day which is a massive bonus dartmouth. The location is also superb. We have stayed here twice and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thanks for having us Simples - we will be back!

"We loved the apartment it was lovely we particularly liked the outdoor setting - ..."
We loved the apartment it was lovely we particularly liked the outdoor setting - there was two of us and our dog the apartment had everything we needed we were able to cook and have nice utensils to enjoy our meals -the only thing I missed was a dish washer but understand that space is limited and managed perfectly well without one
-
"The house was beautiful, the size was perfect, the beds were comfortable, the garden was a god send for the nice weather."
It’s location to all the local amenities are perfect. The fact that the apparent allows dogs is brilliant as there are so many routes/scenic walks to take that are a stone throw from Simple’s (fully recommend walking to The Castle and Sugary Cove with your dog). The only few things I would change about the apartment would be a to add a proper freezer rather than the small ice section in the fridge. The Sky television was poor. I completely understand we the guests don’t own the box so the Sky Box would have limitations but at least allow the free view function inside the TV to be used so basic channels are accessible.
-
"Fantastic property brilliantly located."
Lovely inside and the outdoor space was a treat for its location. Only niggle were the sofas. We were only 2 adults but we couldn’t comfortably sit on the small sofa. It’s a two double bed property but can’t imagine any additional people having anywhere to comfortably sit in the lounge area. Great to have a 3pm check-in time.

"THANK YOU ."
We absolutely loved our 1 week stay at “ Simples “ in Dartmouth and thought the description of the property was 100% accurate. The location of the property is excellent and so central . The apartment has been refurbished to a very high standard and besides the quality of the fixtures and fittings so much thought been put into items provided to enhance your stay . It feels like quality items are in the apartment not just basic quality items. The terrace for an apartment is amazing and even though it was November we sat out to enjoy it , how could you not ! Thank you so much for such a relaxing and enjoyable stay . We would definitely return again and recommend “ Simples “ most highly to any of our friends visiting Dartmouth. Alan.

"It would be more convenient to collect the key from the key safe at the property rather than Coast & Country office."
A fuse tripped out on several occasions - initially we couldn't sort this as the fuse box was located in a locked cupboard. The accommodation itself is lovely and we liked it being all on one level however the entrance stairs are quite shabby. Coast & Country were easy to deal with once we got through to them but Sykes only provide a centralised national number which meant lots of hanging on phone lines waiting to be answered and then waiting again whilst they called the local office.

"Fabulous apartment with gorgeous garden - would highly recommend!"
-
"Really nice apartment with every possible convenience included, the outdoor space is perfect and a nice place to relax in the sun."
The photos on |Sykes are accurate so I will not talk about the many good points of being there but just be sure it suits everyone a couple of points; Although very close to the "flat area" by the river / boat pond it is still up a steep (short) hill, followed by a set of very steep internal stairs to the front door with a sharp bend at the top (like climbing a turret). Will not be a problem for most people and was not for us but happy we didn't have anyone with us who was infirm - not sure if previous reviews mention this. The parking permit is a godsend as parking is really restrictive in Dartmouth, even then its hard to be sure that you will get back into Mayors Avenue car park at the end of the day. The curtains / blinds do not give enough shade to block out the morning sun, this could and should be easily fixed by the owners with some blackouts. Church clock tower practically next door with hourly rings - although I never actually heard any before 4am I did wake for all of the others. Gets better over the week and quaint Please pay attention to the instructions for waste disposal, the family in the week before us left bags of rubbish from a barbecue in a dustbin on the terrace (why is that even there?) which was not removed by the cleaners and we didn't notice for a couple of days until the smell / fly's started. Not cool guys and plain lazy, did not appreciate cleaning up after you and taking that rotten fish through the apartment. Anyway, despite the above we had a great time and Simples is almost ideal, I think just some better curtains would be a simple fix.
