"**Review for Vantage Point Accommodation**
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the accommodation was fantastic!"
However, there were a few areas for improvement that we noticed during our visit:
- The main double bedroom with the heating system was quite noisy, producing a knocking sound. Soundproofing the cupboard could help avoid disturbing guests.
- None of the bedroom doors had locks, except for the bathroom and toilet. It would be helpful to have child-friendly locks for added privacy.
- The bottom drawer of the freezer was broken.
- In the double bedroom to the left of the stairs, we found a spider in the bed sheets. This might be due to how or where the sheets are stored.
- It would have been helpful to know ahead of time that the sauna wasn’t working, especially as this was one of the key features that influenced our booking.
- The main door leading to the jacuzzi area didn’t lock, so we had to place items near it at night for extra security.
- Since we traveled in winter, the living room was quite cold, and it seemed the owners controlled the heating. Thankfully, reception provided us with two electric heaters, which made a big difference.
- The whirlpool jets in the baths need better maintenance. We experienced floating debris when turning on the jets, which was unpleasant.
These are just some housekeeping issues we noticed during our stay. That said, Vantage Point was absolutely stunning, and it was such a pleasure waking up to the beautiful views every day. We were welcomed with a lovely Christmas tree, mince pies, and some local treats, which added a festive touch to our visit.
We’ll definitely consider returning during the warmer months—thank you for the wonderful experience!
Thank you for your feedback. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We're waiting for a locksmith to fix the lock but have now arranged for a temporary lock for that door in the meantime. We fixed the freezer drawer while we were there over New Year. We're glad that reception was able to provide you with heaters but there is no restriction on the heating controls, perhaps it was just taking a while to warm up due to the size of the room. We're glad you enjoyed the views and we hope to welcome you again in the future!

"We enjoyed our stay."
Layout is perfect for several couples. Whilst we didn’t use the golf course the description suggests that the property was part of a golf complex which it isn’t. As other guests have pointed out the property needs maintenance and a deep clean. Specifically some of the door locks need replacing and the outdoor furniture is very tired. We were disappointed in finding cobwebs, crumbs and lipstick on furniture, hand marks on windows, dirty crockery & cutlery as well as several false nails scattered around the bedrooms. There was an unpleasant smell in en-suite bathroom below hot tub and that shower did not drain very well.
Thank you for your feedback. We have arranged for locksmith to go and mend or replace the locks, as necessary. Coast & Country have confirmed that the cleaning team has been advised of the deficiencies in the cleaning and there have been staffing changes and cleaning is now up to standard. A deep clean was carried out just before the summer and will be carried out again shortly. The drains, they tell us, is an intermittent Dartmouth problem but we have a plumber going round to see if there is something we can do our end. Update: we had a contractor go out to check the drains and he couldn't find any problem or smell so it must have been a passing issue!

"After the initial wow factor of this property you start to notice it's failings, It was clearly a very stylish and well planned property much loved by it's owners as the furnishings and fittings clearly show, but now the property looks clearly un-loved!"
. Please read following:
Dead mouse found in bathroom cupboard in bedroom nearest to parking space.
Skylight dirty needs cleaning.
Decking needs a clean and re-sealing.
Hand rail around the decking needs re- sealing.
Glass banister around decking needs cleaning, covered in green algae at the edges and full of spiders webs.
Pots on decking need weeding.
The garden below the decking and each side of the drive way needs sorting, it's over grown and migrating on to the already narrow drive (about 3 MTRS wide) then over grown on to it, it looks like it was well planned but not maintained or looked after.
Patio furniture in poor condition, it's usable but the hardwood table top needs sealing and some of the chairs have the paint off them leaving corroded aluminium behind.
Overall we had a good stay and were well catered for views of wild life were wounderful, fixing the above would have made it perfect. Overall I would say the property was a 3+/4- out of 5. Would we come back? Probably! Although the beds were VERY firm for us.
Thank you for your feedback. Hillfield management has taken steps to ensure there are no further mice (and we are also looking into humanely mouseproofing the house when we're next there.) Hillfield management is also looking into the garden / drive issue you have mentioned. We pressure washed the deck and weeded the planters a few weeks before you arrived but the damp weather must have caused it to return. We plan to pressure wash again when we visit in July. We will also assess the condition of the patio furniture, although we note the table top is weathered teak and isn't supposed to be sealed.

"When we arrived after almost 4 hours drive, the accommodation welcomed us with its neatness and cleanliness together with the well organised layout of the property."
The jacuzzi and sauna added on to the holiday that made all of us relaxed even better. Great place it would be even more enjoyable in summer. Thank you. Good job.
Thank you very much for your review. We hope to see you again!

"Thank you for a lovely stay at Vantage Point, we had a great time."
Everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was really well equipped. The property is really spacious, the bedrooms are large - the photos really don’t do it justice. There was also a good selection of board games and jigsaws. The sauna and hot tub are just perfect with the added bonus of being undercover when the weather is not so kind! The Sportsman’s Arms is a great pub (excellent carvery) and only a 5 minute drive away. We also visited Dartmouth, Totnes and a trip to The Ferryboat Inn (known as the FBI). We had 3 generations on holiday, ages from 16 to 83 and there was something for everyone.
Thank you very much for your review. We're so glad you had a good holiday!

"Spotlessly clean, lovely big sofas, dining table."
And comfy beds. Beautiful views, lovely big hot tub. Enjoyed meals out at the Sportmans five mins drive from the house and Bushells in Dartmouth. Only criticism was the oven, really complicated and even reception were baffled by it, gave up trying to use it. However this didn’t ruin our stay it was lovely.
Thank you for your kind feedback and score! It is much appreciated. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. There are instructions for the oven in the kitchen drawer but we agree that it is complicated and will make a one page quick start cheat sheet when we are next there and put it on the wall somewhere nearby!

"Had a few issues with hot water and shower control - all sorted very quickly with minimum fuss."
Heating seemed to take a long time to get to temperature - suspect the property was empty the previous week. Decking area could do with some TLC. One of the double bedrooms had a continuous hum from the hot tub which was above. Very comfortable, well equipped property in a good location for all of south Devon attractions.
Thank you for your feedback. The deck is next on our list for attention! We're glad you found the house comfortable and well equipped.

"Says there were walks around the grounds but these were limited."
Washing machine could not just tumble dry. Knives need sharpening! Just suggestions.
Many thanks for the feedback, it is very helpful. Well give the knives a sharpen next time we're there. Hopefully you found the nice walk to the Sportsman's Arms!

"Vantage Point is now tired upstairs, it needs a lick of paint and the balustrades cleaning properly."
Downstairs there was black mold in all bathrooms.
The hot tub's noise could be heard below in the second bedroom and kept my partner awake many times. It is a ridulous place to put the hot tub.
We could not check in until 4pm, and you have to leave the premises by 10am. This leaves the cleaners 6 hours to properly clean Vantage Pount. However, when we arrived at 1pm (we were going on a boat trip) the cleaning had only just started. We would mark the accommodation 6/10 at the most. Very disappointing!
Thank you very much for your feedback, it is appreciated and we are sorry you were disappointed. Vantage Point is under new ownership as of July and we plan to redecorate once we get a break in bookings. Thank you for pointing out the black mould. We didn't notice it when we were there in August but will ask Hillfield management to address it urgently. We have ordered a new, much quieter hot tub, which will be installed in November. I don't think there is anything we can do about the check in and out times as these are standard for Hillfield (and for holiday accommodation in general). I believe the housekeeping team have a number of properties to work on in those six hours and so Vantage Point won't always be first. Thank you again for your feedback.
