  • "We had a wonderful stay at Kestrel - a lovely home in a great location."

The house was superbly furnished and equipped - we had everything we needed. Really cosy and homely - we would definitely return if we were visiting the area. Thank you

  • "Beautiful cottage, which has been tastefully furnished with high end appliances."

Very comfortable, home from home. My only comment is shower temperature very variable . Wonderful location surrounded by nature

  • "Kestrel was a delight , as usual!"

Our second stay here but this time with our faithful dog Merlin! The only thing that slightly marred our stay and therefore couldn’t give a full 5 stars was decorators started work from the Monday morning early 8am making quite alot of noise moving ladders, electric sanding etc. otherwise a perfect stay at a super location!

  • "Thank you for allowing us to rent your beautiful cottage for a week."

It is in a stunning location and is very well equipped. The location and access was well described on the listing. The only thing that wasn't mentioned is that there is only one dog walk directly from the accomodation as dogs aren't allowed anywhere on the adjoining golf course. This wasn't a problem for us but may be useful for prospective guests to know in case they think they can ramble for hours with their dog from the door.

  • "Beautiful property, everything was there that you could wish for, lovely decking with great views, we saw deer and phesents."

The only down side were the steps and slope. We are fit 80 year olds but it was a struggle with luggage and food shoping, and we had to walk to get the trolly from the cottage when we arrived. We also left a note saying there were two glasses missing from the inventory as we didn't want to be blamed for breaking them, also no blue bag for the laundry. But we did have a lovely holiday and wall to wall sunshine all week.

  • "Beautiful cottage for our short stay in Devon - lovely location and easy access to Dartmouth and walks - ideal for our group of 4 and one dog."

Lovely log burner, furnishings and accessories which made for a cosy stay (as weather a tad rainy)

  • "Fabulous cottage."

very well equipped, very comfortable. Quiet location. Only downside, it's a bit of a walk from the car park, especially in the devon rain.

  • "An amazing setting & high end property BUT disappointed."

..not the home from home comforts we expected. Heating & hot water cold in the evenings...had to boil kettles for child's bath & light the ineffective log stove. Greeted by a dog poo bag by front door so didn't venture in to the delightful garden. Property accessed by 24 steps or long/ steep ramp...NOT good for pushchair/ wheelchair users! (& NOT warned about this!) Sorry blue bag not available for us to deposit soiled laundry? Couldn't access rubbish/ recycling area as gate broken.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry you had some issues. The Hotel is owned and run separately from Kestrel and so we aren't responsible for their facilities or the rubbish area, but I will pass your comments on to the Hotel Management for their attention. The Guest handbook in Kestrel has details about how to operate the log burner - we usually find it throws out a lovely heat. There are also electric oil filled radiators in all of the rooms if you need heating on at any time other than the set central heating times. The hot water comes on at set times - please ask if you need us to change the settings to suit your family. We can make changes remotely very quickly. I'm sorry you encountered some dog poo bags - we do ask all dog owners to clear up after their dogs and dispose of the bags. We do hope you will come back and visit again. Property Owner

The cottage is cosy, quiet and everything we needed for a holiday with our toddler and dog.

  • "We were a bit disappointed that the heating did not work during the colder nights."

However the cottage was very comfortable and had all the comforts of home. The log fire was a welcome addition. The cottage is set in a lovely location for views, access to the coast and tucked away from the other cottages. My only other suggestion would be a stronger rug by the main door for muddy shoes.

  • "We had a lovely time at Kestrel."

The cottage is beautiful, clean and cosy, and is clearly much loved and well looked after. It is ideally located for Dartmouth and other local destinations, as well as being perfect for just hiding away. It was perfect for our dog and baby and we will definitely be coming back!

  • "Kestrel is a lovely, clean, modern, well equipped and spacious house overlooking the tennis court at Dartmouth Golf and Country Club."

We loved our stay here as it was an ideal base having 10 minute drive to Dartmouth or 20 minutes to Blackpool Sands. We didn’t use the DGCC facilities but could have, if we wanted! We used the cooking facilities to prepare meals some nights whilst eating out at others. The only thing we required but could not find was a hoover or sweeping brush to clean up on last day as required by conditions of house and Coast and Country notes!! All cupboards locked with no access but left as clean as we could! Lovely property and we’ll be back and recommend thoroughly!
