  • "A lovely character apartment in an elevated position overlooking the town and river."

    We were very comfortable during our stay. The owner, who lives below, was brilliant and went out of her way to help with any queries that arose during our holiday. We were very impressed with the extra touches provided in the apartment, certainly the best we've experienced in our many years of travel. Highly recommended!

  • "Such a special flat to stay for a week in."

    Lots of welcome little touches for us when we arrived (like milk, biscuits and cereals plus other bits too). Beautiful view from the balcony and the beds were very comfortable. Be warned though you need to be physically fit to get in and out of this flat especially with luggage and the walk down and back to Looe from this flat is 'challenging' for those not used to steep gradients and lots of steps. Overall and real gem and I'd love to come back. Missing it already!!

    The property was well maintained and the little touches that Maggie did welcoming us was very pleasing. Maggie made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for her. Although the kitchen was basic, it was well equipped and suited our needs. The views of Looe were fantastic from the balcony and parking space. Well worth the climb!     This is reflected in the wonderful feedback this property typically receives and the return visits of many guests . It can be seen clearly on the property images how elevated this property is, which benefits the fantastic views that guests frequently comment on. I'm sorry if this was not what you were looking for on your stay. The steeper steps lower down have gravel embedded in the surface to offer a good grip to minimize any slip risk, even in wet weather. The photographs were taken by Sykes and are very representative of the kitchen, which is a small area but offers the essentials as described on the listing. ~ as are the bedrooms and bathroom. I cleaned the property myself to the highest standard and I'm very surprised to hear you had any issues of this nature when you arrived as I had given it personal attention shortly before. Had you mentioned any of these problems at the time, either to myself - or Sykes I would have attended immediately to put things right. As you can see from the large number of feedback for this property - cleanliness is a priority and not something guests have made any complaints upon in the past ~ quite the reverse The flowers were fresh for your booking, as was the water they were in. The plug holes are treated between every booking to ensure they are clear. I would like to offer an apology as you did find the coffee sachets provided to be out of date, these have been removed and I will keep an eye on this in future to ensure this doesn't happen again ~ the tea and sugar are replenished after each visit. I'm sorry The Knoll was not the right holiday home for you, however I'm pleased it has not served to put you off visiting the very beautiful Looe in future.

  • "Loved this property."

    The many lovely and thoughtful extras provided by the owner made it a 5 star plus. We loved sitting on the balcony in the evening with a glass of wine enjoying the view and at night when we parked the car the sight of the river with all the lights was breathtaking.   • "Spotlessly clean."

    However the property seemed to be designed for good display photos leaving no room for our things. Every shelf there was had picture perfect stuff on it. Although the ‘kitchen’ was tiny it was well equipped and the only cleaning utensils I could find was a dust pan and brush but that was enough to sweep the kitchen floor with. The main issue was the heating and hot water. Although Maggie tried to stress we only have to ask to have the heating/hot water on outside her 3 hour morning and 3 hour evening regime I personally found the idea of doing that very uncomfortable. Therefore we were cold early morning and cold after 9pm, as well as having to wash in tepid water if out of the allotted timings. Overall the flat was show room quality, definitely quirky but the surroundings fairly grim and perhaps the very steep hills to walk into town should be stressed in the on line blurb.

    Thank you for taking the time to review my property. I am very sorry to hear that you were cold during your stay. With weather being so erratic it is difficult to know when to turn the heating on, which is why I ask my guests to keep me informed if the property is not warm enough. In regards to the accuracy of our listing, the steps and surrounding hills are shown clearly in the photos. The flat is fully equipped with vacuum cleaner, hand vacuum and cleaning materials should they be required, however I don’t expect my guest to clean. I wish you had contacted me or Sykes during your stay and we could have resolved these issues quickly for you. I am at a loss to understand your comment that the outlook is grim ? The views of the beautiful river and surrounding trees is greatly admired by my previous guests and loved by me. I am sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay. Property Owner

  • "The flat was ideal for Looe."

    Plenty of room in bathroom and shower, plenty of crockery etc. Off-road parking was fine, getting to and from the parking area OK most of the time. Easy access to Looe shops and restaurants although you do have to be physically fit to walk down to Looe and back up to the flat. Maggie was very helpful with her instructions

  • "A lovely stay in a brilliantly equipped apartment."

    Great views of Looe and the river from the balcony and such a quiet location away from the town centre but within easy reach all the same. Maggie, the owner, was very attentive and contacted us prior to our stay with directions and a few bits of information that would be useful. She left fruit, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, and biscuits freshly for our arrival. Very highly recommended!

    The apartment was in walking distance to Looe. The apartment was comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. The owner made us very welcome, and I would heartily recommend her.

  • "Spent a week at The Knoll, wish we had booked two."

    Ideal location for access to Looe Harbour and beach and all the local shops and bars/restaurants, just bring your walking legs with you for the walk back up! Maggie is wonderful host, everything you will need is in the apartment , from a sewing kit and picnic set to beach towels and room fans plus we were left milk, cereals, biscuits, tea and coffee. Lovely views from every window, a truly stunning place to stay.

  • "The location is good though you have to enjoy climbing hills!"

    The view is lovely & the existence of a wooded hillside garden (through the green door) is a real bonus. Be aware that there is no oven &, due to its position, hot items are very tricky to get out of the microwave. Maggie is very considerate & accommodating. All in all a very successful holiday.

  • "This is a great little hideaway in East Cornwall."

    Great little apartment which is ideal for 2 people. Only 10 mins walk from middle of Looe but beware walk back is very steep ! We were made to feel very welcome by owner who lives very near and all things required for holiday are ready to hand ....shops nearby and apartment fittings etc. Had aweeks break and enjoyed it immensely.

  • "A lovely comfortable apartment."

    Pleasant little balcony with great views looking up the West Looe River; we saw some stunning sunsets from there. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was fine, with modern spacious shower. Some points for prospective clients to note: East Looe is a 5-10 minutes walk, but it's down a very, very steep hill with many steps. Getting back would be a real struggle for anyone who's a bit unfit or with mobility problems. But it is only £4 for a taxi and we understand there's also a bus, though rather irregular. There are also steep narrow steps down to the front door. The parking spot is OK, but a bit small/awkward if you have anything larger than a mid-sized car. The kitchen is tiny and lacks an oven. The hob is only two rings. Don't expect to be able to cook a family meal there - unless you're a real wizard.

  • "The owner was very generous and put milk in the fridge for our arrival, there were some biscuits, tea bags and coffee as well."

    This meant we didn’t need to go shopping as soon as we arrived. There were toys and books for our little boy to play with, all age appropriate. This all contributed to a very pleasant holiday.

  • "Great apartment, views are amazing."

    Quality fixtures and very comfortable. The walk from the town is very steep and you need to be reasonably fit , but a taxi to the town & back was only £4 each way !! Maggie is lovely and very helpful. I’m sure we’d be back one day.

  • "The steps accessing the property are indeed exremely steep."

    The property is so high up.......once a passerby alerted us to the bus service we were much more inclined to access the town....car parking was at a premium, as was expected.

Ideally positioned within the popular fishing port of Looe, The Knoll is a lovely first-floor apartment offering a pleasant base from which to explore Cornwall.

Boasting fantastic views of the East Looe River, this delightful dwelling is perfect for couples or those with young families who seek an unforgettable escape to the coast.

Step inside this homely abode and be welcomed into the warmth of the sitting/dining room, perfect for relaxing on the sofa as you unwind with your favourite shows on the Sky TV.

Head on out to the balcony and admire incredible views of the river whilst indulging in a warm cup of coffee and taking a moment to embrace your wonderful surroundings.

Wander through to the charming galley kitchen and grab ingredients from the spacious fridge/freezer as you begin to prepare a tasty evening meal with the help of the electric hob, for the whole family to enjoy at the pretty dining table.

Wash off the sand from a fun-filled day at the beach in the airy shower room, retreating to the quirky double bedroom decorated with lime green walls and a striking black bedframe.

Carry on along the unspoilt paths of the National Trust owned Lantic Bay, before taking a detour onto the idyllic Readymoney Cove and the 16th century ruins of St Catherine's Castle.

Meet magnificent birds of Prey at Bird Lady of Fowey or travel further afield to Liskeard for a day at Porfell Wildlife Park & Sanctuary.

Wander the well-manicured grounds of The Lost Gardens Heligan, or learn of the conservation efforts of the nearby Eden Project.

Swing through the skies at Adrenalin Quarry or see the enchanting waters of Golitha Falls, a firm favourite amongst many outdoor enthusiasts.

Admire art at The House of Murals or travel back in time with a trip to Duloe Stone Circle.

Looe is an ideal base for walkers to explore the South Cornwall coastal path, east to Rame Head and Plymouth, or west to Polperro and Fowey.

Polperro is an unspoilt picturesque fishing village, and a peaceful stroll to one of the harbourside pubs will transport you back to a different era.

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
