  • "We had an absolutely perfect stay, such a well appointed house."

The dogs had a wonderful time and we just relaxed. Loved being away from it all, beautiful surroundings and so peaceful. Can’t fault the cottage/cabin, had everything we needed. We will definitely be back to stay again xx

Quiet and comfortable and in easy reach of the coast. Biggest 5 stars was a list of things you could do and that were available in the property which is a refreshing change from a list of things you can't!! Especially made a relaxing stay with 2 dogs so thank you we all loved it and would wholly recommend

It is so peaceful and would highly recommend. Only thing I missed was a hoover to get the bits up off the carpet b4 we left as I always like to leave our place of stay as clean as I can.

Thank you so much for your feedback and we are so pleased you had a peaceful time away. I do have a hoover ready to come down to the lodge as the last 1 broke so I'm sorry for the inconvenience not having it there sooner. So glad you had a lovely time away. Property Owner

Ideal base to venture out and about. Great fishing ponds within 1 min drive. Spoke to Clare the owner, very nice lady, will go above and beyond to make sure you have a great break. Cannot fault the place, even down to having a dog bed, poo bags and dog towels . It was perfect, thank you Clare and Ian.

  • "Lovely place, peaceful and good location."

Good outdoor area for kids to play or run around. Beds very comfy, master bathroom really lovely. Seating very comfy. We appreciate the games and dvds. Good tvs. WiFi was great. There were fans which we really appreciated. Nice picnic table to sit at with parasol on a hot day. Dog blankets were great, the provider poop bags and dog bowls. Fridge freezer a great size for family of 4. Thankful of the dishwasher. Largely very clean and tidy. It's been maintained well. Just a little dusty around master bed at the back and down back legs. Single beds a little too narrow. Would have liked to have had a hoover, especially with two young kids and a dog about. No washing machine so recommend pack more than you might need. Bath mat was slippery so suggest getting a new one. Would also recommend plastic kids plates/dishes and cups... Just in case. Overall we had a really lovely stay. Could have stayed another week. Easy to find and we were close enough with a 20 min ride to most local places and food beaches. Lovely hearing the birds sing and the local chickens! Felt very relaxed in the place. Rarely heard the neighbours as it's far enough apart and liked the privacy of the hedges and shrubbery near by. Really pretty place.

Thank you very much for your feedback it's very much appreciated. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and had a great time. Unfortunately the hoover broken the week before you arrived but a replacement will be there very soon. We try our very hardest to make the lodge a home from home experience and are happy when guests enjoy their holiday there. Thank you again for your feedback Property Owner

  • "Lovely peaceful lodge."

Very well equipped with good quality furnishings & kitchen equipment. Huge smart tv in lounge, DVD player with DVD’s, Alexa, jigsaws etc. Very dog friendly Dog bowls, bed, towels, even poo bags provided. Very remote so a few miles to the nearest shop, but this was not an issue with forward planning. A suggestion would be a fan for the bedrooms as it can get quite hot. Plenty of lovely places to visit not too far away. We visited Bude, Westward Ho, Boscastle & Tintagel. All lovely places. There’s also an outlet nearby if you are looking for a bargain. Spoke with the owner Claire as we left something behind. Very nice person who is happy to post it to us for which we are very grateful. Would definitely return & recommend for a getaway from it all holiday.

Thank you for your great review, I can reassure that we have fans in the lodge just in case the summer comes back. I was more than happy to post your forgotten items and hope to welcome you back soon. Kind regards Clare and Ian Property Owner

Couldn't fault it at all. Lovely setting. Would like to add that it does have a walk in shower, as I couldn't find that on the website and being old folks that was a bonus. I would advise anyone staying in lodge to make sure you have all the food you need when staying as the nearest shop is about 4 miles away.

.. on asking Sykes if there were hairdryer and cafetiere, was told 'there is a kettle' (Accurate but not helpful) there were actually two hairdryers. these small details are helpful when you have a small car boot. Both items were actually available in the property - some update needed to Sykes site. Let the owner know that the foyer ceiling light flickers after about 5 minutes. Also the patio door would benefit from a squirt of WD-40 on the locking points. Otherwise a VERY NICE property

Thank you very much for your feedback. The 2 items you asked sykes about are both in the lodge, I will look into updating this information. Also I will look into the other problems mentioned. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We always provide our phone numbers so if guests have any questions before arrival or during their holiday they can always contact us. Property Owner

Massive TV with was great but unable to take advantage of the Apps as not registered. Could do with a medium saucepan to complete the set no need for the set of steamers for us anyway. Loved the grey knives super sharp. Loved the new lazy boy sofa very comfy not overly keen on the fluff hair & sand under it. Appreciated the foil & clingfilm in the kitchen for lunchtime sandwiches & all other usefully items to hand in the kitchen. Thought the decor was looking a little tired & in need of a fresh coat of paint to justify the above average weekly cost but it didn't deter from a very enjoyable time spent at Stonewood Lodge. • "The lodge was spotlessly clean."

The Beds were comfortable with very nice linen. All one could need was provided although a grab bar on the wall over the bath would be of help to the aged. There is a lake just down the road to which you have access. It is a lovely walk around it and if you fish it has a lot of large carp. The area is lovely if you like walks etc and the distance to nice places was fine. RHS Rosemoor is really lovely and Hartland point is a really scenic spot. Bude is a really nice place and the ice creams are great. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The Tomtom sat nav did not accept the postcode and tried to send us to Bideford. Might be the reception. If you are arriving from Bideford going South on the A39, about halfway to Bude there is a sign on the right to a lane on the left going to West Yagland. About a mile down there is a crossroads. Go straight across and just down there on the right is Hartland Forest Golf Club. The lodges are numbered and sign posted. We had a very happy week there.

Had the weather not been bad then it would not haveattered a lot but it meant that we had issues cooking and trying to watch TV in the evenings. Other than that, extremely happy with the stay.
