The 100-acre site includes three lakes and 13 acres of woodland which is a picture when the bluebells are out, perfect for a gentle stroll and making the most of this wonderful setting. Conveniently situated close to the A30, the cottages at Great Houndbeare Farm are perfectly located for getting out and about and exploring this wonderfully diverse part of East Devon. The market towns of Ottery St Mary and Honiton are within easy reach and offer a good selection of independent shops as well as larger supermarkets perfect for stocking up on the everyday essentials. Honiton is a lively market town famous for its lace and pottery and being regarded as the antiques capital of the south west. Ottery St. Mary, often simply called "Ottery," boasts a storied past that stretches back to Saxon times. The town’s name derives from the River Otter, which runs through it, and the parish church dedicated to St. Mary. The 14th-century church, one of the town's most prominent landmarks, is a stunning example of Gothic architecture, resembling a miniature version of Exeter Cathedral. The town is also famed for its association with the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, who was born here in 1772 with the town celebrating this connection with an annual Coleridge Memorial Festival. A short drive will take you to the coast with its charming seaside towns of Exmouth and Sidmouth worthy of a visit. Explore this stretch of the UNESCO World heritage Jurassic Coast either on foot along the South West Coast Path or one of the many circular cruises which run from Exmouth marina.
