Great Houndbeare Farm

Surrounded by picturesque Devon countryside, Great Houndbeare Farm is a charming collection of six cottages, sympathetically arranged around a Mediterranean styled courtyard with lavender beds, arbour-covered walkways and a feature pond with water fountain. Each cottage has its own character and has been thoughtfully arranged to provide stylish and comfortable holiday accommodation. Ranging from two bedrooms to five bedrooms, with an onsite games room and ample parking, the cottages provide a wonderful location for families, friends or couples looking to enjoy all that this wonderful location has to offer. For those looking for a relaxing retreat, two of the cottages have their own hot tubs and each have their own garden or private outside area with delightful rural views. The 100-acre site includes three lakes and 13 acres of woodland which is a picture when the bluebells are out, perfect for a gentle stroll and making the most of this wonderful setting. Conveniently situated close to the A30, the cottages at Great Houndbeare Farm are perfectly located for getting out and about and exploring this wonderfully diverse part of East Devon. The market towns of Ottery St Mary and Honiton are within easy reach and offer a good selection of independent shops as well as larger supermarkets perfect for stocking up on the everyday essentials. Honiton is a lively market town famous for its lace and pottery and being regarded as the antiques capital of the south west. Ottery St. Mary, often simply called "Ottery," boasts a storied past that stretches back to Saxon times. The town’s name derives from the River Otter, which runs through it, and the parish church dedicated to St. Mary. The 14th-century church, one of the town's most prominent landmarks, is a stunning example of Gothic architecture, resembling a miniature version of Exeter Cathedral. The town is also famed for its association with the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, who was born here in 1772 with the town celebrating this connection with an annual Coleridge Memorial Festival. A short drive will take you to the coast with its charming seaside towns of Exmouth and Sidmouth worthy of a visit. Explore this stretch of the UNESCO World heritage Jurassic Coast either on foot along the South West Coast Path or one of the many circular cruises which run from Exmouth marina. For beach goers, both Exmouth and Sidmouth have sandy beaches and are popular destinations for those who enjoy swimming or paddling in the sea with water sports such as paddleboarding and kayaking available. When it comes to eating out, the area has a rich variety of village pubs and farm shops giving you the opportunity to try the local food and beverages, with many specialising in fresh seafood. Other popular days out include Exeter, one of the most vibrant, attractive and historically interesting cities in England or Lyme Regis, renowned for its iconic Cobb harbour and fossil rich beaches. With a selection of cottages to choose from, Great Houndbeare Farm is a fabulous choice for enjoying all this and much more on your next trip to Devon.
