  • "We had an amazing time at Fisherman’s Cottage!"

The cottage was even more beautiful in person than in the photos, with meticulous attention to detail that showcased the fisherman’s theme. It was spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and provided everything we needed for a relaxing week away. We were thrilled to find electric chargers on-site, including a fast 21kw charger and an additional 7kw charger, which made charging our electric car a breeze. The location was ideal—peaceful and quiet, nestled amidst beautiful grounds, yet conveniently close to both the north and south coast beaches. There were numerous scenic walks nearby, perfect for our dog. We also appreciated the competitive pricing compared to other cottages in the area. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone seeking a peaceful getaway in the countryside.

  • "This is a hidden gem our idea of a perfect holiday!"

Alfie the estate manager is a bubbly and kind person and made us so welcome! Thankyou for letting us share your piece of tranquility. Will be going back in the fishing season. The cottage has so much attention to detail.

  • "We loved the accommodation which was beautifully decorated and equipped."

All you could want in a 5 star property. Our teenagers particularly enjoyed great tv, wifi, hot tub while we also loved the location and private field and river for a very happy dog. Location is bit isolated from towns or shops, but that worked well for us. Still only 45 minutes drive to Devon's great beaches. Cost more than we would normally pay for a week in a cottage, but we thought it was definitely worth it, especially if you think you deserve a treat! We are already planning a second stay.

CHULMLEIGH

Winkleigh 6.3 miles; Barnstaple 18 miles; Exeter 25 miles.

Chulmleigh is a delightful village in the heart of Devon, with a real, old-fashioned community spirit. With its narrow cobbled lanes, rows of thatched cottages, courtyards and welcoming inns it is a pleasure to wander here in this relatively unspoilt part of Devon. It is a year-round destination, with summer gardens and winter walks to enjoy. The 180-mile Tarka Trail starts in nearby Eggesford Forest, which is on the banks of the River Taw, and follows a pretty route through woodland, and offers some spectacular moorland views. Chulmleigh is particularly good for birdwatchers, who can spot kingfishers, cormorants, goosanders and dippers along the quiet riverbanks. Fishing is a popular sport in the area, with salmon and sea trout in the rivers and coarse fishing on Catham Lakes and Huntacott Water.
