  • "We had a wonderful stay at the farm, the owners were friendly, accommodating and even upgraded us due to the poor weather forecast (though luckily the storm missed us in the end)."

They were very dog friendly and our Frenchie loved it. We were also given some delicious complimentary home made biscuits alongside milk, tea bags, coffee and sugar. An incredible stay at an idyllic farm.

  • "The owners were very friendly and we were welcomed with a lovely Cornish cream tea."

Everything we would need was provided including torches and umbrella. There was even milk in the fridge to tide us over. A lovely short break

  • "It was fun and different."

For me i hated the roads to get to and from the hut but the hut itself was very cute and a lot of fun and the home made cookies we were left were wonderful

  • "The Shepherds Hut was lovely, cosy and peaceful and had all the essentials needed for a relaxing stay."

Nice little seating area outside. The field the hut was in had no animals grazing so was perfect for walking my dog. Owners were friendly and helpful and information folder useful.

  • "Nice little shepherd hut, tucked away out of sight."

Exactly what we wanted. The weather could have been better as there isnt too much room to swing a cat around if it is raining or cold in the evening.....but then it is a shepherd. One step up from our normal tenting holidays. Would love to think we will come here again. Thanks to the owners

  • "Fantastic place to stay."

Everything you need is there, the owners are lovely and very friendly. The hut has everything you need. The surrounding countryside is stunning. We saw Tawny owls and the sky at night was breathtaking, you could easily see the milky way. Loads to do around and about. Also the most comfortable bed I've slept in anywhere.

About the location

LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
