  • "We had a good stay in the quiet, comfortable and warm flat."

The owner showed us how the heating, tv etc worked. We did feel that we could have been told how steep and narrow the lane was and how awkward it was to turn into the drive with 2 white pillars each side of the entrance. We had a good meal at the Cockhaven Arms and visited Totnes, Newton Abbot, Dawlish and Teignmouth. A good base in a lovely county.

Thanks so much for your feedback. It’s very important to us that guests should tell us about any concerns they have in or around the property. The nature of the village the property is in, is fairly typical Devon and consideration needs to be given when driving around. I know when we spoke before your arrival I was able to advise you on the best route to take. We’ve had considerable work done to the driveway to ensure guests have plenty of room to drive in and turn around but the large original gateposts at the entrance to the drive, though comfortably passable do require a bit of knack and knowhow. We live next to the holiday property and we’re always happy to advise and offer help. Again, thanks for your feedback, it was lovely having you stay. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Valley View."

It was very comfortable, especially the bed, and had everything we needed. The huge TV was great to watch in the evening! Our hosts were very friendly and made us feel most welcome. We’d definitely visit again as it was very dog friendly and a great base for exploring Devon. We found the bath towels to be very small and worn so I’d recommend that guests bring their own. Other than that, an absolutely perfect stay.

  • "Wow where to even begin!"

Such a lovely pair of hosts, when we arrived the apartment was spotless. There were also some essentials waiting for us which you'd likely forget to bring like washing up liquid & toilet roll some nibbles and a bottle of prosecco! So thoughtful. Anything we needed was attended to very quickly. The views were amazing and we were close to so many places id definitely recommend maidencombe beach, Paignton zoo and the donkey sanctuary as well as the beach in the welcome pack! Thank you so much for making our holiday so easy I think we would definitely come back if we come to Devon again!

  • "Could be better."

.. The location is favorable, as it allows easy access to nearby resorts with just a short drive. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They provided plenty of basic provisions, and we were grateful for the welcome cookies and bubbly. However, we were disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the property. There was a significant amount of dog hair left behind by previous occupants, scattered throughout the apartment, and it needed a thorough dusting. The kitchen showed signs of wear and tear, with many fixtures and fittings in need of replacement. The cutlery and tableware were marked and required cleaning before use. Additionally, the gas cooker often emitted a whistling sound and appeared heavily worn. Furthermore, the bathroom door wouldn't close properly, leading to some awkward moments. The WiFi connection was frequently unreliable, especially in the evenings, which made it challenging to enjoy family time watching Netflix. Moreover, the TV had a distracting red line running down the screen. Bishopsteignton is a charming and peaceful village situated on a steep hill, which can make it difficult to access, particularly for families with young children. Overall, I believe there is significant room for improvement here. Some of these issues could have been overlooked if the basics had been taken care of. Considering the price of just under £700 for a week's stay, this is not a place I would recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We are sorry to hear of some of the issues you raise, which are in stark contrast to the other positive reviews we've received for this property. As you’ll see to date, comments on the property have been complimentary so far and yours is the first which isn’t so. We've spoken to the owner who disputes your statement on the fixtures & fittings and cleanliness and feels these comments are unfair and unjustified. The microwave and fridge are new, there are plans to replace the gas cooker after the season but even though some of the dials are worn, the appliance functions perfectly well. Cutlery, pots and tableware are checked during each changeover. The bathroom door will be checked as will the TV and we thank you for bringing this to our attention. The owner chose not to provide a smart TV or apps such as Netflix due to the strength of wifi in the area. The owner takes their letting of Valley View very seriously and prides herself on giving good holiday experiences – this is reflected in the feedback we have received, and we have every confidence this will continue to be the case moving forward.
