It was large and airy and clean. The second bathroom a little issue if tall as having a shower was a little difficult. Definitely would stay again.

Thanks for your positive feedback. Sadly nothing more we can do about the roof/beams but glad that you enjoyed your stay. Karen and Mike Property Owner

  • "Lovely location with views of rolling hills."

The properties are modern, and decor was nice and neutral. We stayed in an apartment, but would opt for a house/cottage next time as I was conscious of noise (we have two little ones), and I could hear noise from the apartment below. The park is great, our kids enjoyed playing there. We didn't make use of the tennis court, but from what we could see it looked good. Location - close to Dartmouth, it only took us five minutes to drive there and enjoy all it has to offer. We also enjoyed the local beaches. Facilities in the apartment - we did feel it would be helpful to have some basic supplies such as dishwasher tablets, detergent pods, tea, coffee, sugar, so that you have some key items to start off with if you haven't made it to a shop on the way. We have stayed in many cottages and usually have a little welcome gift waiting such as a pint of milk, fresh bread and biscuits. That cab be a nice welcoming touch. We also only had one black bag for rubbish, and no recycling facilities. There was an iron available but it had stickers all over it to say it hadn't passed the safety test and not to use it. We contacted sykes who did get another one to us, but there was a delay due to the bank holiday. We also thought it would be helpful to have a site map or signs on the way in to direct you to the names/locations of each accommodation as it's not that easy to know where to go when you arrive. All in all, other than the minor bits noted, we enjoyed our stay and will visit again (but stay in another of the properties that would better suit young children).

Hello I'm so sorry to hear about the issues with the welcome pack. This should have been in place as confirmed by Sykes and they have apologised for this omission during the changeover. In addition, we had all the electrical appliances PAT tested at the start of the year but was not made aware of any issues. We have now checked this with Sykes office and have organised a new iron to be delivered to the apartment. Many thanks for making us aware. Kind regards Karen and Mike Property Owner

  • "Lovely Modern spacious Apartment with well fitted Kitchen with all appliances and facilities you require for an enjoyable stay."

Apartment spotlessly clean and well kept. Only comment against where the low beams and the two flights of stairs up to the Apartment. In the smaller Bedroom there was no wardrobe to hang clothes only some hooks. This might not be a problem with members of the same family staying, as they could share the one in the Main Bedroom, but for a non family member the only option they had was to keep most clothes in their suitcase. Access to the Apartment would not be so much of a problem for younger people (we are 80 yrs +) but for the elderly carrying luggage from the Car Park space up to the Apartment was very strenuous - Car Park space allocated was not that close Thankfully Marie from Reception was really helpful taking our luggage up to the Apartment for which we were very grateful. This could be mentioned in the Apartment details that access could be problematic for the elderly.

  • "We had our second stay at 7 Manor House and it was even better than the first."

We are a family with two young children and the property really suits us as a family. It has plenty of space, is light and very comfortable. Beautifully decorated and furnished and the bedrooms are like staying in a hotel. Everything you’d need is provided and the views are lovely. There is a small park on site too which is perfect for young children. The bigger en-suite shower is a great new addition too. We loved our stay and couldn’t recommend it enough. We will be back again soon!

  • "The property was excellent, with modern fixtures and fittings and located in perfect area for visits to beaches and Dartmouth town."

Local supermarkets and park and ride are 5 minutes away and nearest golf course is also 5 minutes drive. The only issue we encountered with the property were the low beams especially in the main bedroom and kitchen area (I’m over 6 foot tall) but this is a minor issue when compared with the superb accommodation. The property was beyond our expectation and I would have no qualms in recommending staying at the premises for any other holiday makers. Plenty of space and very well maintained. Unfortunately Devon county council decided to shut main roads for repairs during our stay so lots of diversions via very narrow lanes but it was fun.

  • "Loved our stay in this beautiful property, did not want to leave!"

I found it to be even better than the photos! Very clean and everything is high spec and beautifully finished. Rooms are perfect, lovely bath with dim lighting and complimentary Molton Brown products which was a lovely touch. Wonderful lounge/kitchen/diner, great entertaining and social space which was perfect for me and my 2 year old son. Very well equipped, had everything we needed and more. The complex is very well kept and the staff on site were incredibly helpful. Great location for things to do, right in the countryside but supermarket and amenities close by. Blackpool sands is a 10 minute drive, the river dart country park is great for kids and we also had lunch at Nkuku which is beautiful, for a full enjoyable experience, maybe without young children ☺️ followed by the steam train from Paignton to Kingswear (great fun) and then boat to Dartmouth for crabbing and ice cream. The only possible improvements… The complex’s key safe was a bit tricky but a member of the site team offered to take the key from me when we checked out and it would be great if a washing up sponge/scourer could either be provided or listed as an item to bring. A wonderful weekend and thank you Mike and Karen for sharing your beautiful property. Suzy

  • "Very enjoyable stay lovely property, only issue for me is the owner has control of the heating and hot water."

It's an all year round property so in the winter months you should have control over the heating and water. It's a large open living space and you need to be warm too enjoy it.

Thanks for your comments and pleased to see you enjoyed your stay Concerning the point on the hot water I wanted to clarify that the hot water can always be topped up at any time by guests using the manual boost function by the hot water tank. Concerning the heating, I was made aware of a problem on 23 Dec by the Hillfield Site Management and responded immediately by changing the settings on the living area radiators. I do admit that there was an error on my part as one of the settings had not been updated before your arrival, so apologies for that. Also on 23 Dec I gave my mobile number in case of any further problems but heard nothing more so assumed all was well. Since then, I have been in touch with the Hillfield Site Management and the Instruction Manual in the apartment will updated to cover adjustment of the Radiators Property Owner

Receptionists were lovely and very helpful. Will definately think about returning.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay."

We’re a family of four with two small children so the open plan living area worked so well for us. Mind your head on the beams! Everything we needed was provided although a small plea to Coast and Country please supply bin bags as we are required to regularly empty bins! The apartment is lovely, great size en suite (shower is small and door a bit fragile) bathroom is great. Lovely furnishings and decor. Location is brilliant a short drive to the town centre, Blackpool Sands beach. Views are amazing and a small park on site. We would stay again and recommend this apartment we loved our stay!

Thank you for your feedback Sorry for the delay in responding but we wanted address your comments about the shower in a positive way so we are pleased to inform you that a new larger shower - with robust door, has just been installed in the en-suite. I'm afraid we can't do anything about the beams but hoped that you didn't have too many sore heads during your stay With our best wishes for Christmas & the New Year Mike & Karen Property Owner

Extremely clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The kitchen/living room is a lovely large room, made very homely with a kitchen having all the equipment you need to self cater. The bedrooms and bathrooms were also spotless & very comfortable. The only negative we came across was the shower cubicle was smaller than average but that is only a minor point and wouldn’t hesitate on returning as it is an amazing place to stay. We had no issues with parking as some reviews had commented about, we had a designated space. All in all a wonderful apartment, a credit to the owners!

Thank you for your kind comments Sorry for the delay in responding but we wanted address your comments about the shower in case you return We are pleased to inform you that a new larger shower, has just been installed in the en-suite. 10/15 minutes drive to Dartmouth & Blackpool Sands. 30/40 minute drive to Salcombe. The apartment is furnished to a high standard, the only negative for me was the low beams in the living room & bedrooms, which I manged to crack my head on a few times. The development has a tennis court and children's climbing frame & swings. Unfortunately Hillfield Village no longer has a swimming pool, although the indoor public swimming pool in Dartmouth is only a 10 minute drive away.

Thank you for your feedback and aplogies for the delay in responding I'm afriad we can't do much about the beams and hope that this did spoil your stay We are looking at re-instating some bunting around the beams to make them more noticable in the future With our best wishes for Christmas and the New Year Property Owner

  • "Mostly we very much enjoyed our stay."

The pictures on the listing have a lot of items that are not in the property, such as lights around the mirror and some accessories that make it feel more homely. But none of these items are in the property which made it feel a bit bland. The shower cubicle is absolutely tiny and is a major reason I would not recommend this property to someone. There is also nothing to put a drink on when you sit on the sofa so we used a tray on the basket that was on the middle of the room. A few of the beams also caught my head and I believe someone who was 6'1 or above wouldn't be too grateful so maybe this should be more highlighted on the listing. The parking also is not ideal, as we were the last parking spot and there are no proper lines and most days we came back after the person next to us and they had made it tight for us. Proper painted lines or inserted wooden post would be more helpful. Emptying our own bins? We're on holiday. We've paid to go on holiday. We don't expect to have to empty our own bins and take them to your bin location, it's almost like you want us to do the job of the cleaner. As I said we did enjoy our stay overall. The views are great and the property is spacious, and with a few changes it could be a 9 out of 10.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologise for the delay in our response. We did originally have more accessories in the appartment as shown in the photographs but we were asked to remove them due to Covid related restrictions. We will now request permission to return them as we miss them too. Regarding the parking spaces; we note your comments and will take this up with the site management. The emptying of the bins is a site wide policy introduced at the time of Covid. With our best wishes for Christmas and the New Year. Mike and Karen Property Owner

This is our 2nd visit to the same apartment and the high standard is the same throughout. We love Highfield Village. Very quiet, no Loud noise allowed after 2200hrs, which is great, I've got two kids 9 & 4 and this really helps us at bedtime, we we are from a busy part of the North West and just sitting outside and listening to the quiet is amazing, thank you. Only downside, wish Coast and Country would give a discount if you book again for following year, same as centre parks etc. Overall, very high standard apartment in a quiet and high spec purpose built village in beautiful surroundings.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. Sorry for the delay in our reply. We acknowledge your suggestion about repeat bookings but as the appartments are privately owned as opposed to a large corporation this wouldnt be viable for us. With our very best wishes Karen and Mike Property Owner

The only observations we would point out are no lift and 35 steps to get to apartment and low beams in main bedroom and one in kitchen. This was not an issue for us but it could be for some people. It may be helpful to mention this in the apartment description.

The whole village complex is of a very high quality and is run by friendly knowledge staff. We have immediately booked again for next year. My only criticism is parking was an issue, sometimes we got back after our evening out and couldn't park our car. This issue was solved my the on site staff immediately. There is building work going on and there were no outside facilities, we were made aware of this by the staff and it didn't affect our holiday. Overall, surperb village, outstanding cottage, done to a very high standard. We have booked again for next year

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at 7 The Manor House and thank you for booking for 2022. Concerning the comment about the parking facilities, firstly we are sorry to read that you had difficulty finding a space, but we are happy to read that the on-site team managed to resolve this for you promptly. This issue of parking has been raised with the site management and we understand that additional parking will be available from the start of the summer holidays. There are definitely problems with dogs barking constantly at various times. This was reported to reception but they said it was the dogs belonging to a strange woman and the council had been informed. Much as we liked our accommodation this constant barking would put us off booking again. Your comments would be appreciated, it has been on reviews this particular problem.
