  • "This is a lovely spacious apartment, well equipped and comfortable and in a great position near the Hoe, Barbican and city centre."

The owners are fantastic hosts. In addition to their generous welcome pack, John offered to pick up us and return us to the station when they heard we were travelling by train.

Many thanks Paul for your very kind review. We do very much appreciate you taking the time to do this. It was super to meet you both and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Drake’s Retreat. John & Shelagh Property Owner

Drakes retreat is a lovely apartment , it has everything you need, even tho it’s a one bed apartment it is very spacious very comfy and cose, John & Shelagh are great hosts ,the one thing I will say is with it being a basement apartment there are a few steep steps to walk down so if you are on the older end you have to be steady on you legs ,but other than that we had a great week ,would highly recommend ,

Many thanks Annie it was great to meet you both We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in Plymouth Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week despite a lot of rain."

The owners were very welcoming helping us carry the luggage in and showing us round. They were always on hand in case we needed anything. The flat was very clean, comfortable, roomy and with lots of storage space. Great shower. Plenty of kitchen basics included plus fresh bread, butter, milk and home-made marmalade. Also flowers. Didn’t need the car as everything within walking distance or used the frequent buses, Lots to see in Plymouth including the huge National Aquarium, Box museum, the Hoe of course and the Barbican. Good for shopping too

All you could want is in easy walking distance. The accommodation is very comfortable, spotlessly clean and spacious. The owners Shelagh and John made us very welcome and were on hand upstairs if we needed anything. We would thoroughly recommend.

  • "I would highly recommend this property."

We were given a warm welcome by the owners John and Shelagh and shown round the property and provided with many tips for trips out and local pubs and restaurants. A nice touch was the milk, bread, butter and homemade marmalade which was well received after our long journey from Yorkshire. It was also a bonus having private parking at the rear of the property. The property is very well situated for the Hoe, the Barbican and the City Centre all that can be easily walked to. There was a lot to keep us occupied in Plymouth as first time visitors and I would recommend downloading the Plymouth Trails App onto your mobile phone to help you find your way around. It is also a good base to travel over the border into Cornwall which we did on a couple of occasions to visit Looe and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Thank you so much for your very kind review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in Plymouth, your first visit. We always find it strange that Plymouth is not necessarily seen as a holiday destination when there is just so much to see and do. We will certainly follow up your suggestion of a Visitors Book, as you say it is great to read of other peoples visits & their suggestions for places to go. Thank you once again. We hope we may see you sometime in the future Our very best regards John & Shelagh Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Drakes Retreat."

Beds and sofas and chairs are all exceptionally comfortable, the kitchen is very well equipped, and everything was extremely clean and in good condition. The flat is a very short walk from Plymouth Hoe. There was an excellent box of local informtion, and John and Shelagh could not have been more friendly and helpful with everything, taking in our supermarket order, helping us unload, advice on exploring the area. Plymouth is a really interesting city with a fascinating history surrounded by beautiful countryside. My only reservation about praising the lovely holiday we had at Drake's Retreat as much as it deserves is that they will then be so fully booked that we will be unable to return and we'd love to!

Thank you so much for your lovely review of Drake’s Retreat Rachel. It was lovely to meet you both and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in Plymouth. We would love to see you both again and wish you both well for the future John & Shelagh Property Owner
