"To much furniture, all old and needed to be replaced, shower cabinet needs to be replaced."

"Yes, I had a nice short break in your comfy cottage, both of your small lamps on the dresser were out of action no bulbs present 2 change the duds for."
No batteries 4 the remote for the music system, luckily I had 2 that were ok. No tea towels present. Apart from that, I had a very nice break thank you
Hi thank you and I’m really sorry to read that were issues with the batteries and tea towels. I will contact the letting agents immediately about this We love Fernhill. It’s been in our family for 15 years and we cherish the settings, the scenery and all that Dorset has to offer Thank you for your review Property Owner

"Kitchen cupboard door needs attention, and kettle."
A freezer compartment would be useful. Having a coffee table with a flat surface is safer for avoiding spillages. Your instructions for (bath) water heating would be improved by mentioning red light (red light = on?) Swimming pool availability? It wasn't a big problem for us but it seemed like it had been unavailable for a while.

"Hi there, We stayed from 29 th of June until the 7 th of July."
The house was really dirty when we came in. Doghairs were everywhere. We found a dirty a dirty sock and even a hard dried out sausage under the couch. The water boiler was full of fungus, the plates and glasses in the kitchen were not clean at all. There was no warm water in the kitchen to do the dishes! The beds were really sweaty, felt like we were wrapped in a plastic microwave..there was a broom..a plastic one with a big dent in it.Used it twice and it snapped. We even had to buy our own pans because the ones in the house were dirty and scratched. This is really risky for your health!! We were glad we left after a week. The environment was lovely but i wouldn't even recommended this house to my worst enemy.
Hi sorry to read your comments and honestly I am shocked. We’re with an agency and pay a lot of money to have our holiday home professionally cleaned and all linen is changed with fresh towels. We shall put in a formal complaint now. I’m confused by the comment re the boiler - full of fungus? We will speak to the holiday letting company as we don’t know how you can access the boiler. We also have copious amounts of hot water so again I don’t understand this comment either Fernhill is beautiful and it’s a special holiday home for us and our family. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your time there. We appreciate the feedback and will be contacting the letting agency now. Property Owner

"No access to the garden from the house, you had to walk around a slippery path and up 3 steps to get to it."
Uncomfortable cane furniture, nowhere to stretch out after a long day walking. Bed uncomfortable, no bedside table or lamps so when you turned out the main light you had to fumble in the pitch black to get to bed. We couldn’t get the Oven to work even with the few instructions provided. The microwave sounded like it was on its last legs! DVD player didn’t work. No problem with cleanliness. The hotel nearby isn’t dog friendly. Lovely location but uncomfortable house. We cut our holiday short by 1 day as we couldn’t face it any more.

"We enjoyed our stay."
Good location for us. The property was comfortable. A few items require a bit maintenance. The hotel took a booking for use of the swimming pool. It wasn't as expected: not evidently heated and there dead amphibians and worms in the pool... (Maybe it should be advertised as summer use only, as there appeared to be lack of maintenance?)

"Potential to be great but let down by the cleaning, all rooms have cobwebs etc around coving/ceilings and downstairs smelt very musty, facilities were good with an additional downstairs bathroom, kitchen small but ok but do need to somehow get an ice box or freezer, living room feels cluttered with all the varying furniture, but as said could be great if few issues resolved."

"A nice little house."
We felt that there could have been more comfortable seating in the lounge as we were a group of 4 adults. Also there was no cheese grater or a choppping/bread board. Alot of the mugs had tea stains. Could do with sterilising and there were alot of cobwebs around the property so cleaning could have been better. Overall we enjoyed our stay. A lovely little spot.

"We couldn't work the oven or the microwave."
We eat out on Saturday night so we didn't know. When I rang for help on Sunday, I spoke to a lady on the phone who was very apologetic but couldn't help as the office was closed. On Monday, a very nice man called Mark came around and showed me how they worked. Apparently he is on call 24/7. The cottage was more rural than we expected. We had wonderful weather and we really enjoyed Lyme Regis
We're sorry to hear that you had an issue working the oven and that this wasn't passed onto our local our of hours maintenance team. We hope this didn't spoil your stay. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

"War alles wunderbar!"
Schöner Platz und viel Grün rundum, sehr erholsam. Einzig der defekte Toaster hat uns Schreckminuten beschert, als der Feueralarm wegen der Rauchentwicklung losging ;-)

"Thank you for the welcome pack - much appreciated."
House was in a good spot, perfectly placed for our Coast Path walking. It was just the right size for three sisters, and easy to warm up. Kitchen better equipped than some larger houses we've stayed in. Bus stop on the road right outside the complex was really useful. When we had an issue with finding the light switch (!) the Sykes out-of-hours respondent was super helpful - thanks. A couple of things would make it even more comfortable: There's a strong smell of dog, which must be fairly constant given the Febreze provided. If you got rid of the throws on the sofas, it would help a lot. We didn't use the bigger sofa at all as the smell was so strong. The mattress on the small double is the squeakiest I've ever encountered. A folder of info about the house itself - eg. how the cooker, microwave etc work, would be more useful than the Lyme Bay generic folder. In fact, we were confused to find that the house is managed by LB Hols when we'd booked via Sykes. I'm sure there's a good reason, but it would be good to be told. Thanks.

"Whilst the location was lovely and we enjoyed the deer in the garden it was not a particularly comfortable experience."
The furniture downstairs and throws on them left a lot to be desired. The second double bed was also uncomfortable and we couldn't open the wardrobe door. I feel there were too many "things" downstairs that also made the space look cluttered. Apart from this our stay was a good one in a wonderful area that we enjoyed exploring. Thank you Jayne and Martin

"Would have found a small freezer compartment useful."

"This was a lovely quiet cottage and kept very well."
My husband was ill the whole week we were there and therefore we were in it much more than we would have been and found it very peaceful with everything we needed - perhaps minus freezer, but the beds were very comfy (if noisy/squeaky on the one double bed!) We wouldn't hesitate to return or to recommend it to anyone else.
