"Very comfortable with high quality furnishings including beautiful pictures."
Would be good to add some to the kitchen as it was blank in comparison. Thanks for the very well fitted kitchen which allowed us to cook home cooked food. It was hard to find the property due to the one way system and only finding the sign on the way back out. Would be good to advise holidaymakers of the upper parking location before they arrive in case there is no room down the bottom and unloading from the top is easier. Decking could do with jet washing regularly to stop it going green and slippery. Would have loved to have been able to walk the dog directly on to neighbouring countryside without getting in the car.

"This was a lovely property - comfortable and very well equipped."
I love the lounge with its view. The beds were really comfortable and there was lots of equipment in the kitchen to be able to self cater. I was a bit worried having read some of the reviews but the property is lovely and was very clean when we arrived. We enjoyed using the pool and had a lovely meal at the little on site pub.
Getting hot water was a bit of a challenge (although the electric shower worked fine) and it would have been good if the hot tub could have been cleaned mid week (it started going green). Also not sure what had been in the drawers in the main bedroom before our visit but they need a clean (as there was a smell of wee).

Regarding the drawers in the main bedroom, they were purchased new not long ago. Our cleaning team have been through them thoroughly following your comments. As for the hot tub, it is completely drained and filled with every changeover. The water quality is tested daily and adjusted accordingly.

"We have stayed in a few lodges on this holiday site and this, by far, was our favourite."

"Bath Shower is poor with water flow being very low."
The other shower is ok. The cleaning was not very good. The bedrooms carpets were not hoovered properly. Behind the sofas the floors were covered in dust. The long sofa is worn out and does not have support underneath. Frying pan handle was very loose and is dangerous as eventually it came off. The cooker hob knobs have no markings to tell you which plates you are using and what setting they are on. This is very dangerous and someone could be burnt. Bathroom door top hinge was falling off so we couldn’t shut the door. Tom got the maintenance guy out to sort the hinge. All doors were hard to shut due to being fitted poorly. Both bathroom door locks dont work. Shower plughole was blocked with loads of hair. I had to clean it so the shower could drain. Matt in lounge smells of dogs and dog hairs on it. Toilet in shower room was moving and leaking from soul pipe as not fixed to wall or floor. Plumber called out and it was fixed to the floor and wall. Carpet in back bed room was soaked due to leaking water from soil pipe in bathroom. Tom got maintenance to come out to clean the carpet. But the bedroom now smells of damp. Washing machine made a grinding noise when trying to pump out. We reported but no one came to fix it. I fixed it by cleaning the pump filter after waiting 3 days for it to be fixed. It was a button in the filter. The drying function didnt work as it kept stopping and showing F13. The outside light by the jacuzzi doesn’t work, the bulb needs changing. On a good note the wifi was very good and the site is good with nice pub and amenities, but you have to provide your own bats and balls for table tennis and pool is £1 a go.
Thank you for your feedback. The property has had a number of deep cleans and has been painted throughout. The rug upstairs has been replaced. There is a new hob installed in the kitchen and a new frying pan (along with the others that were already there.)
There is a new process in place by the cleaning company whereby they have a checklist to ensure some of the issues you raised are addressed. They will also be checking inventory and checking for damage.
To my knowledge we did have maintenance personnel come to the lodge several times during the visit to try to correct the problems that you raised. I was not made aware of the issues with the washing machine, but we have tested it several times and it is working. It is a washer/drier combined, so the drying cycle does take quite some time compared to a dedicated drier. The bathroom doors have been fixed and locks installed.

"The property was lovely however whoever cleans and maintains the property have let you down."
There were cobwebs in the corners of the bedrooms, a bag of dirty washing was left in the twin bedroom and a dirty towel was hung on the back of the door in the main bedroom. There was a hole in the duvet cover in the main bedroom and the pillow/pillow cases felt damp.Most of the doors going into the main bedroom and bathrooms need to be sorted as they do not close properly. All this being said it did not adversely affect our holiday too much and would probably stay again.

"We were very satisfied with the lodge and all the facilities therein."
It was clean and very comfortable, with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The ONLY thing that we could mention is the state of the decking/balcony, which was covered in spider webs. They were not new! The decking could have been swept down and cleared of small debris and webs. Other than that small gripe, we were more than6 happy with our stay and would definitely return.

"Absolutely loved staying here over Christmas."
Felt so homely and comfortable, everything you need is there.
Lovely touch to have a Christmas tree and some Christmas decorations. Complimentary biscuits and sweets, tea and coffee.
My teenage son chose the bedroom with the TV in so he could plug in his Nintendo switch so he was happy. Hot tub was lovely.

"Very clean and well presented, fine for our little family."
Facilities on site were good. swimming pool was used 3 times.
Plenty of space for us all, a great little base to venture out.
A Few minor points that need addressing, The Washer/Dryer does not work properly. It cuts out while drying meaning lots of hung washing around the place, not ideal in the colder months.
TV is a bit intermittent, sometimes the screen doesn't boot when you turn it on, just needs turning off and on. But may be on it's way out.
2 rooms didn't have light bulbs fitted, we were not using one of the bedrooms so it didn't matter to us, but general maintenance check advised.
I will likely book this property again in the future.

We have checked the washer/dryer and it is working, it just takes longer to dry versus a dedicated standalone dryer. It doesn't constantly spin, and stops periodically to empty water. There is an adjustment button to set the time for drying, which ranges from 4 hours to 40 minutes.

"1. The hot tub was amazing."
It was ready for us when we got there. Although we only saw it cleaned once during our 4 night stay. The privacy bamboo curtain needs replacing badly and it had lots of insects on it which sometimes gets in to the tub.
2. The kitchen was fully equipped. Had most of everything you need to cook. Even a nespresso machine and lots of pots and plates, cups and glasses. The main light in the dining wasn’t working. There were 2 small fridge freezers which was plenty for 4 of us. The chocolate cookie was a nice touch. Thank you.
3. The beds had mattress toppers on them which were comfortable enough. The sheets didn’t smell fresh though, like someone used them already and found some hair on the beds. The top light on the room next to the shower cubicle doesn’t work nor do the lamps. We tried 2 of them and both didn’t work. This was reported but the electrician never came. The extra oil radiator does not work either.
4. The wifi was really good all throughout the lodge. There is a smart tv were you can cast your phone or watch netflix/youtube etc.
5. The sofa in the lounge (as mentioned by previous occupant) dips in the middle. You can use the cushions to prevent sinking into the sofa but then again the throw pillows badly need washing as well. I don't think they have been replaced or washed recently.
6. Parking was a pain as we came in and it was drenching with rain and the four spaces close to the lodge were occupied. We didn’t realise till the next day that it is SO MUCH EASIER if you park at the top road instead. This should be highlighted in your booking info. Although it does mention it has 23 steps going up into the lodge, it could have been mentioned there are only about 10plus steps going down if you come from the top road instead. Again, finding the lodge was a challenge as it’s not properly marked on the road itself.
7. Lastly the shower in the tub was extremely hot or in our case it was on the first day and on day 2 to 4 it was extremely cold even after running it for a few minutes. The electric shower was okay in the other toilet.
8. The heating system was confusing to use. On our first day we didn’t have heating on but we eventually worked it out by turning the hot shower in the toilet. Maybe You need to have a much efficient system where you can use both hot water in the shower and heating in the lodge.
9. Overall, we enjoyed our stay mostly due to the hot tub and cooking our food in the kitchen.its also a good base to explore south devon and Plymouth. Would we stay again? Probably not.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the kitchen and hot tub. Regarding some of the points you raised, we would assure you that we have a professional cleaning company perform changeovers, including laundry services, and this is absolutely done for every stay without fail. The hot tub is also professionally managed, and is checked every day for the right chemical balance. It is drained and cleaned during every changeover.
The screening by the hot tub is popular with guests as it provides privacy, but does get battered in the wind if guests do not retract them when the weather is windy. The screening has since been removed and a replacement is being arranged.
We have replaced a couple of lamps in the lodge and a light fixture, this is a recent occurrence but has been addressed. It is our understanding that our maintenance company did attend the property when your request was made, although we could not make the changes in time.
In terms of the electric shower and central heating, that is a limitation of the size of feed going into the property. The manual within the lodge indicates that the central heating needs to temporarily be shut off whilst running the electric shower. We have recently installed an extra large hot water tank with two "boost" buttons to supply the lodge.

"The accommodation was perfect."
We really enjoyed our stay. We felt welcomed with the lovely scones, jam & cream and the treats laid out on each bed , towels, sweets & shower-gels was a lovely kind gesture.
The lodge was well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable break. A nice welcoming folder with lots of information from local attractions, to places to eat and also local vets, medical & dental practices.
We loved the hot tub which was easy to use and checked regularly throughout our stay.
The positioning of lodge gave privacy as it’s surrounded by trees and a beautiful view in comparison to other lodges in the holiday village.
The site is very dog friendly, our dog is a loved family member so to be able to take her with us in the pub/restaurant ( there is seating areas away from dogs) was a loved bonus.
We have recommended to family and friends and most definitely would love to return next year.

The issue we had with fridge & toaster were sorted very efficiently and a new fridge, toaster & kettle arrived the following day.

"Kitchen equipment not up to standard
Fridge far too small for self catering 4 bed property."
Bottom shelf of door had clearly been stuck with Superglue only to break when milk placed on it. Virtually no freezer space.
Cooker rings had no numbers showing and instructions inaccurate
Washer/dryer washed but didn't dry
Unable to make towel rails work and no instructions
TV in bedroom didn't work
In same room bedside light didn't have socket to plug into so unusable
For amount paid this property it did not meet the standards we have found elsewhere
Thank you for your feedback. There are now two fridges in the property, one is new. The TV in the bedroom is connected to a DVD player, and that it its purpose, rather than being connected to an aerial. The same bedroom has an extension lead for plugging in the bedside lamp, perhaps this wasn't spotted. As for the kitchen, previous guests have commented how fully stocked it is, from a coffee maker to a slow cooker, plus all the pots and pans you would need to cook a full Sunday roast. I am not aware of anything else that we should add, but will bear this in mind. I am sorry you had issues with the drier, we are looking into that.

"We had a fantastic stay in 59 Valley Lodge!"
The lodge was immaculately clean and very well presented. It had everything we needed and more (pots, pans, kettle, toaster, slow cooker, dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, fridge with small freezer, hairdryer, ample towels, clothes airer, iron and ironing board, 3 large sofas, large tv, central heating (which can be overridden by using the dial on the wall if not required), outdoor seating etc). Every bedroom had plenty of space to put clothes away and a full length mirror. If I was to make a suggestion it would be a new mattress on the double bed as it was quite hard but all the other beds were wonderfully comfy and replacing the privacy screens next to hot tub as the one we tried was broken. The bathrooms were lovely and showers powerful. Previous reviews mentioned problems with WiFi but all four of us managed to connect phones and tablets and logged into Netflix on the TV with no problems. Signal strength was great. The owner kindly left haribo sweets, clotted cream fudge, biscuits, tea and coffee for us. The hot tub was lovely and warm, ready to use, when we arrived through to leaving.
In the resort everyone was friendly. The heated outdoor pool was great (Sessions bookable online when you have password from reception. Same procedure for indoor pool.) Pub onsite was reasonably priced and food was good.
Access to lodge best from the top carpark as steps much less steep.
We would not hesitate to book this lodge again and would definitely recommend it!

We have recently put a mattress topper on all the beds but will monitor the situation to see if further action is required. Thank you for alerting us to the issue with the privacy screen, we will action that as soon as possible.
We are glad that the wifi met your needs, we have addressed this with the provider but have also installed a backup 4G router in case the primary source of wifi is problematic.
The cleaners work very hard to keep the lodge tidy and I know that receiving positive feedback means a lot to them, thank you for taking the time to comment on their efforts.

"Site is tired,swimming pool is showing its age."
.Outdoors pool is far too small for the amount of lodges . There are no recycle bins in the waste areas.
The lodge (59) very well equipped ,but the fridge is to small to store food for six people
Thank you for your feedback. I would just like to clarify that there are recycling facilities near the pub and shop on site. The interior swimming pool and gym area have recently undergone refurbishment, during the pandemic shutdown, as has the pond area and the pub. The pool and other facilities as well as site maintenance is the responsibility of the owners of Honicombe Manor Park rather than individual lodge owners, but we do make sure we pass along feedback.

"We really enjoyed the holiday, the lodge is lovely."
Furnished well and clean. We would definitely book here again.
Previous reviews have said it smells of dog. It does not.
A couple of things to point out.
I would advise parking at the top of the hill rather than the bottom, the route is shorter and easier to the lodge.
The shower in the main bathroom is either boiling hot or freezing cold. No in between. This really needs looking at. The power shower in the other room is fine.

"I booked this cottage as it seemed right for what we needed for a chilled week away."
Unfortunately the place smells really bad of dogs it wasn't very clean .
The showers were cold couldn't get any hot water through them so we rang them out .a man came he said you have to run it for 10 min then it will get hot some did this warm water came through but within a minute it was cold again . So all 6 of us were having to have a strip wash as we couldn't have a bath or shower . The owner had put a code lock on the heating so it only came on at certain times so if you stayed in in the day it was very cold. The beds were like boards very uncomfortable didn't sleep at all .the settees in living room when you sat on them you went in a big dip in middle so had to pile cushion on top and sit on them . By Thursday we had no water and none of us could take any more so we came home. Would not recommend this place to anyone very disappointed and felt insulted as they sent me £40.00 refund. I only stayed 4 days out of 7 and it was £516.00. Disgusting
Thank you for your feedback. With respect to your comments around cleaning, had we been aware of this during your stay we would have happily sent the cleaning crew around to address your concerns. We make every effort to ensure the lodge is clean and tidy.
When you raised the issue regarding hot water, we had a member of the team arrive promptly to investigate but unfortunately no problems were found. The water does not have to be run for 10 minutes, so this must have been a misunderstanding. We tested it after your stay and it took 20-30 seconds. We will certainly keep an eye on this situation as we do not want future guests to experience an issue. Also there is an electric shower available in addition to the bath/shower in the main bathroom, this is not dependent on the boiler and heats quickly.
With respect to the heating, it is of course possible to adjust the heating, it is not locked. All you have to do is turn the dial on the wall up and down. The only thing that is locked is access to the heating schedule, which is needed to regulate temperature when the lodge is unoccupied. The dial on the wall overrides the heating schedule.
When it comes to the comfort of the beds, this is a subjective area. It has not been an issue in the past but again we will keep the situation monitored. In the meantime I have put foam mattress toppers on every bed in the lodge.
I do apologise for a short interruption to water supply on Day 6 of your stay. This lasted less than 2 hours but was unfortunately beyond our control because it affected the whole area. It was quickly rectified, but due to the inconvenience we offered a discount.
Despite your disappointment we hope you enjoyed the area of Tamar Valley.

"Disappointing lack of good regular hot water supply."
Electric shower poor. Excellent standard of decoration throughout and lots of useful equipment. Hot tub lovely experience. Better directions needed if arriving after dark. Lack of good handrails on quite steep stairs to and from the property. Trees need cutting back to actually enjoy the view. Overall a lovely spot well maintained

"Fantastic stay at a fantastic lodge, even the weather was fantastic, the only thing I would add to the lodge would be a maiden."
The washer is a washer/dryer but in good weather it is nice to put clothes outside. Other than that you couldn’t ask for anything more.

"We had a wonderful week, the lodge and site were fantastic and the host couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful."
The only thing to note is that it was advertised with WiFi but the connection was so weak (even with only one device connected) that you couldn't do anything with it. Had we had known this we would have downloaded some programmes etc in advance.
