‘Hillside’ 57 Valley lodge is a detached alpine style lodge situated in an elevated position within the peaceful scenic grounds of Honicombe Manor Holiday Resort in the Tamar Valley AONB and is also very close to the Tamara Coast to Coast walking route The property offers a welcoming and comfortable home from home after a day's exploration.
Set in 20 acres of scenic wooded valley this reverse level property can accommodate a family group of up to eight people.
There is a spacious open plan living area on the first floor with comfy sofas leading to a large balcony with table and chairs and a well equipped kitchen with dining table where you should have everything you need to cook up a delicious meal.
If you don't fancy cooking, the on site Bar and Restaurant The Honicombe Arms offers a good selection of quality reasonablely priced meals and drinks and is well known locally for it's Sunday carvery and fish and chip Fridays as well as hosting live music and entertainment throughout the season.
On site the leisure facilities include giant chess, an outdoor heated pool (summer months) ,a swish indoor heated pool , gym, games room and tennis courts , all included in the rental.
Location and the local area and connections : Situated in Drakewalls in between Callington and Gunnislake the lodge is approximately 35 mins from the stunning historic South Coast fishing village of Looe ( which featured heavily as the location for the TV series Beyond Paradise) Gunnislake Railway Station offers an easy ride into Plymouth should you wish to shop , visit the historic Barbican area with its pubs and restaurants and nightlife or book a relaxing boat trip with Plymouth boat trips (highly recommended) or visit The National Marine Aquarium an ideal destination if the weather is not kind.
Hillside 57 Valley lodge is close to the lovely riverside village of Calstock where you can hire a canoe or kayak (see Tamar Trails website) or launch your own paddleboard from Cotehele quay , enjoy a pint in the lovely Tamar Inn and watch the world go by .
There are also concerts held at the lovely Calstock Arts , a beautifully converted Chapel on the banks of the river, and the Calstock Wetlands provides an interesting walk for bird watchers.
National trust Cotehele is a must for lovers of glorious gardens , it is an historic Tudor house beautifully preserved and it's grounds sweep down to the Tamar river with a mill on the historic quay Morwellham Quay , once a thriving port linking the mines and towns of East Cornwall and West Devon, the Victorian village will take you back in time and there is also soft play facility for the little ones too.
Tamar Trails family outdoor Adventures offer mountain biking and cycle hire as well as Tree Surfers and the Zip line will take you high into the trees on a forest adventure Tavistock , an ancient stannary and market town on the edge of Dartmoor is around 15 mins away on the banks of the river Tavy , there are many pubs and restaurants here, notably The Cornish Arms in Tavistock which is very highly rated.
Kit Hill Country Park is just a few minutes away and offers great walks and panoramic views from the summit of this granite topped hill, perfect if you have your dog with you.
Adrenaline Quarry is situated near Liskeard and offers coasteering,a 490m zip wire and water park fun as well as motorised go carts.
Restuarants and pubs: Locally as well as the Honicombe Arms on site there is The White Hart Chilsworthy , The Rifle Volunteer Drakewalls, The Tamar Inn Calstock offering good food and The Rising Sun Inn Gunnislake is well known for it's open mic nights and music scene and ales,and there are many more village and Country pubs in close vicinity
