"It was generally good."
Few things could make it better. Downstairs toilet seat not fitted correctly, had to hold up when in use. 2nd bedroom lacked storage as a lot full of house stuff like sheets. Kitchen missing a few things like extra chopping board and sieve. As reported light in ensuite needs replacing so it was quite dark bit ok. Hard to use ensuite and plugs for drying hair. Key safe hard to open. Clear out and bin old tatty leaflets, replace with better ones. It was clean and had a lot of useful stuff. Good car parking.

"A lovely property in a great location."
Comfortable beds, well equipped and lovely little extras like a sensor light on the landing. Newly appointed showers and a spacious main bedroom that could accommodate a travel cot really easily. Nice views across to hillside covered with sheep and the sea to the side. Short walk along a side road and footpath to the beach.

"Lovely property!"
I'll be delighted to go again.
Location is great, literally a five min walk to the cove itself. Superb views from the main bedroom.
Facilities wise, they've thought of everything you might need.
Photo's don't do it justice, really lovely home from home.

"When we arrived the property had a really musty smell especially downstairs, we assumed it had not been used for some time."
There was no visitors book so we didn't know when it was last occupied. We were able to leave the front doors open when we were in the property as the weather was good and this resolved the issue for us. There was a folder from Coast and Country but very little about the house. We worked out the wall heater in the lounge that we needed to use a couple of times. Plenty of hot water but again nothing to tell us there would be, timings etc. Unusually for a property, nothing to tell us what to do with rubbish, re cycling etc. We found the site bins at the opposite end of the building to where we were parked by chance and then found the key for them in the dining end of the lounge. We were then able to put our recycling and rubbish in the appropriate bins. The bed was comfortable. Thank you for the welcome pack.

"The property was so lovely and we really enjoyed our stay."
The only thing we would comment negatively upon is that we were disappointed that the “ outstanding sea views “ referred to didn’t reflect the glimpse of the sea from the bedroom window. The pictures are deceiving on the brochure.

"The floor needs a good mopping."
Apart from the floor in the downstairs area, everything was very clean and well appointed. I was the first one there and straightaway any socks I wore around the house would be brown on the bottom. Such a shame as everything else was perfect! It was a short walk to beach and path and had everything we needed.

"Although we had a lovely week at the house and it’s in a good position (7 minutes walk to the beach) with beautiful views I’d just like to report that the house does need a good clean and sort out."
The oven was filthy along with the kitchen bin. The kitchen drainer doesn’t drain and was filthy in the drainer outlet and the plug in the kitchen sink doesn’t work either. The scissors were broken and the cafetière had no filter top. The drawers in the kitchen and living room are filled with random rubbish, leaving no space to store anything. There was mould on the skirting board in the downstairs bedroom and widows in the main bedroom. The air drier was cheap and inadequate and kept falling over and was not fit for purpose especially as it’s a house for six people. The lock on the upstairs main bathroom didnt work. Also the carpets do need a good Clean, there is a little vacuum but it wasn’t really strong enough for the carpets.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed the position of Paddlers Rest and enjoyed your stay in the area. There really are some wonderful views to be enjoyed from the property and the patio and gardens.
As owners, we are devastated to see your further comments and as such we have immediately raised these with Coast and Country to be addressed as a matter of urgency. We await their response as the property is fully managed locally in Salcombe.
We have arranged for replacement scissors and a new cafetiere to be delivered. We understand that sometimes things are broken during bookings but these are not always reported leaving us unable to rectify. We do endeavor to do regular checks but can't manage this weekly. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
It is the intention that the contents of the drawers should be kept to useful additions, foil/sandwich bags etc. with games and books in the lounge. We have received positive feedback for having these items in the past. I suspect that perhaps items have been left behind by previous guests which we will look to have reviewed as soon as possible.
Paddlers Rest is a very important part of our lives and we do hope that all guests enjoy it's wonderful position and comfortable accommodation as much as we do. Thank you again for your useful feedback which has all been actioned with immediate effect.

"Very comfortable duplex apartment with modern kitchen and bathroom/shower room."
The property was clean and provided all necessary conveniences. The welcome pack was very much appreciated after a long journey. Lovely area and close to amenities. All the local pubs are dog friendly. Our only issue was that the beach at Hope Cove was closed to dogs after 10 am so we had to travel to Thurlstone Beach which was a short drive away or you could walk along the coastal path to Thurlestone but please be aware the cliffs are eroding and there are sheer drops so to keep away from the cliff edges and keep dogs on a lead. Salcombe was a short drive away also with lots of shops and restaurants and very dog friendly too.

"Lovely place in a very nice village."
Nice clean property and the hamper was a lovely surprise.
Would return to Hope Cove again.
Only negative was shower in en suite leaked on main floor so did not use it as did not want water leaking downstairs.

"Prior to our stay we saw a very bad review of the property which worried us None of it was true."
The place was spotless, tastefully furnished and very comfortable. We and our dogs had a brilliant stay.

"This property is not a cottage."
Although,the property was warm and well positioned for the area it had not been cleaned properly and the fridge was full of water. The hand held shower head was broken, the hair dryer glowed bright red when used (only once). There was a lack of toilet rolls and bin bags, something that could not be sorted out straight away due to Christmas closure’s.
If we new this property was in an apartment block with noisy people staying in the property above us, we would have not booked our stay here.

We will of course pick up any cleanliness issues with the cleaner to make sure this does not happen in the future, we can only apologise that these bits were missed for your stay. Having looked at the wording on the website, we cannot see it described as a cottage, however we will go back through the description, in detail and amend anything, that we feel will make the listing clearer. We do hope that despite the matters you have raised you enjoyed your holiday in Hope Cove.
