  • "The cottage was OK, we were aware the owners may not be there and if the case key would be in the door and this was the case."

It was disappointing that having read previous reviews there was no welcome pack like we had had in other cottages. The property would benefit from a banister attached to the wall re the staircase. The information folder read more like a rules and regulation folder which was off putting, most people renting a cottage would be respectful anyway and not leave appliances on or the heating on unless needed. The TV was rather temperamental as either the aerial needed adjusting or the TV was in its way out as there was a lot of interference on it in the evenings. The fridge freezer was also noisy and could be heard downstairs in the bedroom. The location was peaceful and lovely views across the fields. Only approach via the road from Great Torrington which is opposite the church as all other approaches the roads are very poor quality and really shake the car and occupants.

  • "Our second visit and equally enjoyable."

Wonderful location for peace and quiet. Found 2 interesting local sites to explore on foot (short walks) - the reservoir which can be walked around (and fished I believe, with rod licence), though take great care with children, and a site of historical interest (left down the lane a short distance to a parking area and sign though no need to take the car!). A shortish walk through the woods to the site itself (red markers no longer present). Information boards explain history. Otherwise property location is perfect from which to explore coastal locations north and west. Accommodation well appointed. Friendly and helpful owners.

  • "This is is a lovely property with extensive views over the surrounding countryside."

The interior is tastefully decorated and well equipped. The hosts were helpful and friendly, but not intrusive. A comprehensive information guide is provided with tourist leaflets, books and DVDs for rainy days. The cottage is well located for exploring the coast, moors and Devon countryside.

  • "Lovely place to stay for a relaxing week surrounded by countryside and seaside towns."

Very welcoming and helpful owners. Nothing to fault other than some surrounding roads are VERY narrow indeed and only semi paved so only really suitable for off road vehicles. (Avoid the approach via Gas Lane!)

  • "It’s a lovely cottage."

The only thing that we struggled with was not having a bannister on the left wall just would make going up the corner bits of the stairs easier. Other than that we had an amazingly relaxing stay the cottage is lovely and nice and cosy warm.

We loved the “upside down” layout - the views from the open plan living area upstairs are fab! It’s incredibly peaceful yet 10 minutes from Great Torrington and a good range of shops. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. We’ll be back next year!

  • "We were looking for a quiet countryside base but with good accessibility to the North and North-West coasts."

The cottage provided that with the bonus of genuine comfort. Very happy with our choice. This was a deliberately planned relaxed holiday, not trying to get to all the attractions in one visit, so it was important the cottage could provide a peaceful and attractive setting in its own right. It ticked all the boxes and we enjoyed our experience. Recommended.

  • "Beautiful cottage well equipped in lovely area."

This was spoilt for us with heating being set for Summertime and presuming you are out all day Only hot water in the morning so no shower in the evening available. No chair in the bedroom so where do you put what you are wearing on the floor?? We won’t be returning Why not charge a little more to cover cost of electricity

The heating and the hot water are fully automatic and timed for our guests convenience however, these can be overridden should further heat or hot water be required, usually verbal instructions are given as they arrive and written instructions are in the cottage in the information pack. Any guest having any issues with any aspect of the cottages can come to the farmhouse where we will endeavour to resolve them. Property Owner

Everything was perfect apart from one small thing. We were unable to use the dvd player as neither us or the owner could get it to play. He was going to fix it, but didn't. It would have been very useful on our one wet day.

  • "The cottage was wonerdful, obviously built to a high specification."

It was warm, cosy and well equipped. The beds were extremely comfortable and together with the quiet surroundings, I had the best nights sleep I have had in years! We were fortunate enough to visit when there was no moon in the sky, because of the cottages location, the milky way was clearly visible in the sky at night, unfortunately there are not many places left in the uk where you can see nature at it's most awesome.

  • "We had a good time, the hosts are lovely and it's a great place to stay - the only reason it doesn't have a full smiley face regarding facilities is that we always book a place where internet/wifi is available."

We won't go anywhere that has not wifi because we use internet photo editing software, I have to be in touch with my work and for many other reasons. We were very disappointed (and had to use my husband's phone as a hot spot for two days) because the internet was patchy and intermittent - you can get internet but you have to be in a certain place in the building which isn't useful if you want to use your laptop to edit photos that you've taken! The laptop doesn't easily perch on the lovely beams!! But having said all that, we would like to reiterate that the place is beautiful and the hosts were very helpful and friendly. We did speak to them about this issue and they told us how they hope to resolve the issue in the near future. That would make it a 10/10!
