  • "1. The kitchen utensils are very good ,almost ott, but the addition of a small plastic basin to fit into the existing large sink would be very useful and save a lot of water, also some j/ cloths or dish cloths."

Clearer info., rubbish disposal & recycling.( we transported our recyc. back to Surrey. We were very happy with our stay, W. Row.

  • "Little Starboard is comfortable and very well equipped."

It's in a good location, and only a ten minute walk to the centre of Kingsbridge. We enjoyed our stay. It would have been 5 Stars had it not been for the internet. There seems to be some restriction on it, making social media access difficult. Pictures won't download etc, etc.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time at Little Starboard. What a shame that you were unable to rate it as 5 stars due to the internet restriction, which we, and the owner were unaware of. This has now been removed, and we could easily have remedied this for you during your stay if you had mentioned it especially as we had dealings with your party during your time here. We hope we can welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "We arrived just before 3pm, at the same time as the cleaner so not the best start to our holiday."

No communication re this. Cleaner was very quick but not very thorough. She also arrived before 10am on the day of departure which wasn’t very helpful either. The property isn’t in the nicest park of Kingsbridge. The car parking space wasn’t allocated and therefore wasn’t always available leaving us having to try and park on a not particularly nice street at times. Various items of crockery, cutlery, oven mits etc were soiled/sticky, with remnants of food etc on them. The shower tray didn’t drain on arrival so we were left from Friday to Monday without being able to use the only shower in the property. The TV screen was marked/scratched but subsequently cleaned by maintenance so presumably just dirty. Sykes were very helpful and reassuring re all of the above. The person that called from Coast and Country was rather defensive and dismissive. No additional toilet rolls, bin bags, cleaning products were left in the property. There are also no tea towels or hand towels for the kitchen. With the unfortunate bits out of the way the property is very nicely decorated with very comfortable beds and sofa. There’s plenty of crockery, cutlery etc to use during your stay. There’s also plenty of cupboard, fridge/freezer space. No wardrobes but good sized hanging rails and lots of drawers. It’s so light inside and there’s a lovely courtyard garden with a nice view from one corner. Bed linen was nice and plenty of bathroom towels were left. Kingsbridge and the South Hams are lovely. Kingsbridge has some good delis, a cinema, ice cream shops and various independent shops to mooch around. There’s lots of great beaches; South Milton, Bigbury, Mothercombe. Lots of lovely places to eat nearby. The Oyster Shack is a must, you’ll need to book in advance though. The ferry to Salcombe is lovely and the staff had great local knowledge for lovely things to do during our stay. We had lovely weather to really enjoy the area. We’ve booked several cottages through Sykes before and all has been well, I don’t think we’ve booked directly with Coast and Country before. Would we stay again, I’m not sure, I’d like to think this was a one off bad experience it’s a little disappointing that no one has checked in with us to check everything was resolved. We’d definitely stay in Kingsbridge again as it’s a really nice part of the country.

also needed a thorough clean, thick dust on the TV and Standard lamp and mouldy instant coffee in one of the caddy jars. Brilliant location and very quiet.

Everything was so clean, and it was fully-equipped with everything anyone could need. We needed to turn on the heating on day 2 but it was registering “call for engineer”. We rang your office and by the time we returned after an afternoon out it had been fixed. Your whole service was second to none - thank you for making our short break so effortless

Great location to walk into town. Great location to use as a base to explore the gorgeous area. Our only problem was we couldn’t find the switch for the bathroom heated towel rail to turn it on. Everything in the house was to a high standard and we would love to return. Thank you.

It was also spotlessly clean which is particularly reassuring at the moment. The location is also great, just a 5 minute walk to the estuary and into town to the shops, restaurants etc. There is also a playground just 2 minutes away if you have little ones. We loved our stay and would highly recommend this place to others.

A little disappointed with the approach to the Bungalow having to negotiate 2 flights of steps and having to park car away from the property making transport of luggage difficult The one double bed requires a topper of some sort because not at all comfortable The cleanliness and facilities were very good

Thank you for your comments. We have taken these on board and made the description regarding the access clearer. There is a mattress topper for the bed, and we are sorry this was not in place for your stay. The bustling town of Kingsbridge is a short walk away, with a good selection of shops, cafés, other eateries and an award-winning pub, as well as a museum and two art galleries.

Visitors can enjoy scenic walks along the Kingsbridge Quay, wander through the narrow alleys off Fore Street.

Here, you can enjoy a visit to the maritime museum, the 20th century Edwardian property Overbeck's, with fascinating art & history collections, the ruins of its castle, Fort Charles, overlooking the estuary and close to North Sands Beach, one of two stunning sandy beaches you can spend the day relaxing on, and you can't visit Salcombe without trying some of its incredible gin at the Salcombe Gin Distillery.

From here, you are within easy reach of the National Trust's Snapes Point, with walking trails along the estuary, panoramic views and opportunities to see fascinating wildlife, while just across the estuary, on the other side of Salcombe's harbour, is the small town of East Portlemouth, with a stunning sandy beach and positioned on a hill, where you can enjoy views as far as Dartmoor.

Keen walkers can join the South West Coast Path in both directions, taking in some outstanding coastal views along the way, with a venture east taking in the incredible English Riviera, a section of the South Devon coastline thought to resemble the magnificent French Riviera.

The seaside town of Paignton is a short drive away, with a zoo and environmental park, Splashdown Quaywest water park, Victorian pier with plenty of entertainment and its selection of picturesque beaches, which form part of the incredible English Riviera.

A wonderful base from which to explore the true highlights of South Devon.
