  • "My family and I had an a wonderful week staying at Moorings in beautiful Kingswear."

The property was immaculate, cosy and the views from the balconies looking out over the river Dart are incredible. You could spend hours just watching the boats and steam train! The beds were so comfortable, we all slept very well. Would highly recommend. We will definitely book again.

Dear Steven. Thank you for your very positive review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back to Moorings in the near future. Regards, Michael & Heather Property Owner

  • "We stayed at moorings for 4 nights and we had such a lovely time."

The house in person is even more impressive than it is in the photos. The sensational views really were the star of the show, we were amazed every time we looked outside. Although the walk up to the house is uphill and can be difficult the beauty of the house really made the walk worthwhile. The house was decorated beautifully with every room bringing such a modern feel into the house, the layout of the house was really lovely as well, across the 3 floors every single room was spotless and the cleanliness was immaculate. We really can’t recommend Moorings enough, we had such a lovely time exploring kingswear, Paignton and Brixham and not to mention the lovely steam train ride. Watching the lit up ferry go across the river at night time from the master suite was such a wonderful sight , it really was remarkable. The ferry was easy to use and a really good experience to get over to Dartmouth. Although there was no set parking for the house we were always able to find a spot to park near the property, we parked one car outside the house and one a little bit down the road , parking was no problem during our holiday. We were so gutted to leave this stunning house and scenery however because of our lovely experience we are planning on going back next year for a longer time. We can’t thank the owners of Moorings enough, everything in the house was easy to use and we truly did not want to leave. Thank you!

Thank you for your very positive review of Moorings. It was great to hear you enjoyed your stay so much and we look forward to welcoming you back for your next visit. Michael and Heather Property Owner

  • "All we can say is we had an amazing time."

The house was lovely and the view was amazing, just wish we'd had the weather in order to use the balcony more. The walk up to the house was a work out but the meal at the ship Inn was well worth it and the food and beer festival that was on across the water was too. Highly recommend, thankyou so much.

Thank you for your review. It's great to hear you enjoyed your stay and found Moorings to be so comfortable. The amazing views are one of the key reasons we chose the house. Looking forward to welcoming you back for another stay. Property Owner

Very clean.Kingswear is built on a series of steep roads so walking up and down to the village or ferry needs a certain level of fitness. That did not bother us as we went out in the car each day.We were always excited to return to such a lovely home that has been rennovated to a very high standard.

  • "Loved our stay at this residence."

Booked for a party of 6 to enable us to combine a weeks holiday with my grandson's passing out at Dartmouth Naval College. Beautiful views, all amenities at hand. House catered for everything we required and spotlessly clean. Beds really comfortable. Lovely outside space, which we didn't make use of due to the weather, but a great asset when the suns shining. Would be great to enjoy a barbeque on an evening. Steep hill when walking, certainly increased our fitness levels. Always managed to get a parking space very close by when we returned from outings in the car. Neighbour very friendly and helpful. Understand the ferry prices are increasing substantially in the near future, best to get one of the packages for the week but does add to the cost of your stay if you intend using the ferry frequently. Overall we would highly recommend and enjoyed our stay in this lovely property.

It was ideal for our family with the fantastic views never growing old and a modern house. Whilst the walk back up from the river is not to the faint hearted this didn’t distract from a great accommodation. We will definitely look to return in the future.

  • "As a party of 4 adults we had a very enjoyable week at Moorings."

The house is lovely and modern with a great deck overlooking the most fabulous views of Dartmouth. We were very lucky with the weather being dry and sunny and used the deck everyday for coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening. Walking up and down the steps or road way down to the ferry was hard work but good exercise! We would recommend visiting Dolium in Kingswear - great Italian food and wine. Inside the house, as the lounge is quite large - maybe a bigger TV? Even with all of us being glasses wearers we struggled to see any text shown on it! Overall a great holiday home.

Can’t really find a negative, apart from the seriously challenging walk back up to the house. Not really a negative, excellent cardiovascular exercise and all part of a wonderful experience! The house, the views, the area of Kingswear and Dartmouth are all stunning! Booking with Sykes, instructions, directions were all very efficient. We shall return!

Would highly recommend to all. The pictures of the Moorings were a true representation. In fact the rooms seemed larger than they look in the pictures. The views are amazing and the sun was on the balcony most of the day and until late into the evening. The kitchen had everything you could possibly think of and more. We will definitely look to book again.

  • "Amazing place to stay."

The view from the house is stunning. Very clean and well maintained. Enough space for the large group that we were. Took some time to find the place as it’s not on google maps. Small shop a short walk away that has all the essentials. Short ferry across to Dartmouth that runs very frequently gets access to larger shops, restaurants etc. Only issue was the boiler had an issue on the last 2 days and we lost cold water. We could contact Sykes at odd hours which was good. We had to check out before it could be fixed so had to take a cold shower before leaving. But given it’s the summer that was ok and we were given more time to check out. Overall would highly recommend.

Yes, there are lots of stairs, and it’s at the top of a steep hill, but the views from all rooms are magnificent. There is always something to watch on the river. It was a pleasure to be away from the very busy Dartmouth. The house is decorated in a restful style. It was sad to leave at the end of our holiday.

Was a super place to accommodate six adults and one toddler. If you get the weather the balcony gets the sun all afternoon and the pub down the road does nice food. The hill is steep so can be difficult for anyone with mobility issues but it is worth it for the views. Would love to come back to the house again in the future

Rather tardis like because it looks quite ordinary from outside the front door but has been refurbished to a very high standard. The views are fabulous and the top en suite bedroom is particularly stunning. There are quite a lot of stairs but this is Kingswear and steps add to the charm. Parking is normally fine which can be a problem lower down the hill, (although the road was closed for part of our stay for resurfacing ). It is a bit of a ‘keep fit’ walk back up the hill but we definitely look forward to staying again!

  • "Wow the view is amazing from The Moorings."

The property itself is beautiful & nicely fitted out. Home from home - just what you want these days. It’s very easy to get over to Dartmouth on the passenger ferry & if you go over a few times buy a book of 20 tickets, as these cost £11.50 versus £1.50 each way. My parents loved the property too but being in their 70’s & 80’s found the master bedroom stairs very challenging & opted for the double room on the 1st floor. They also had to take the long route down to the train/ ferry (30 minute walk) as the quick route was far too steep for them. We loved the Steam Packet Inn so definitely try this when you are there, it was so good we went 3 times in a week. Great pizzas, excellent starters & a small selection of delicious fish - booking is a must & u have to pay a deposit. Thoroughly enjoyed our week & would return to The Moorings it is perfect for a family holiday by the sea. We also tried the sea Kayaking & would recommend this too.

  • "The house was great."

Location fantastic with amazing views. All the instructions were clear. The house was both functionally perfect and also homely and the perfect base from which to go exploring the beautiful countryside around. Only slight issue was around parking and I can imagine that at the heart of the summer it could be a nightmare...

  • "What a spectacular view and the house itself was exceptional."

It had all the facilities we could have asked for, and very comfortable beds. The top bedroom is probably not ideal for taller people due to sloping ceilings in bedroom and shower. The downside is the parking. We never managed to park outside the property as a car was parked permanently outside the front door which is a drawback if you have small children/shopping in tow.
