  • "The joining instructions are out of date as the drive is not shared with the farm."

The kitchen utensils are the bare minimum and I don't think that putting knives into a container filled with Oasis is hygenic. There is no shower mat. I reported that the heated towel rail is not working and the basin in the bathroom was not draining properly. To my knowledge neither of these things were fixed while I was there. Overall lighting is poor, particularly in the kitchen.

  • "What a lovely Barn to stay at."

Had everything you could possibly need! A lot of thought has gone into Robby Barn. A lovely unexpected welcome basket on arrival too. Very cosy and comfortable living area and the bedrooms too with well equipped en-suites. The village the barn is set in is rural and beautiful and plenty of the well known Cornwall landmarks within reach, a car is needed to do this or simply chill out at the barn with lovely scenic walks nearby. A barn for everyone! We were 3 adults and a 2yr old and stayed for a week. Would love to return some day

It was clean, and equipped with all that you needed. Lovely welcome basket full of goodies was great. Thank you! Only one thought was possibly have more seating outside and not just the picnic table. But that's just us being picky, didn't have an impact on a great stay.

On arrival a lovely welcome pack was awaiting us, which was much appreciated. The barn is in a beautiful spot and very tastefully thought out. The flowers were a lovely touch. Thanks to the owner for sorting out failed light bulbs. Hope to be back again.

  • "As soon as we walked into Ribby Barn, we were blown away."

Sometimes there are negatives when you first arrive at a holiday home, but this has no negatives whatsoever. Everything was perfect, from cleanliness, comfort and so peaceful. Kitchen fully equipped, all appliances easy to use. Lovely welcome pack left by the owners, which was a surprise. Beds super comfortable, main bathroom was superb, and beautifully decorated plus well finished. If you like remote, this is the place for you. The stars at night were like a canopy. Lovely garden, with a table and bench under the trees. Yes, it is up a track, with a no through road, but even with farms around you could not hear a thing. The walk down to the village took about 20 minutes, perhaps a little longer, uphill on the way back, but worth it. We could not praise the owners enough. This is a little gem. Lerryn itself is so so pretty, one shop and one pub. The car park is free, but gets busy, especially at the weekend. We spoke with the owner the day before arrival to sort the keys out etc, very friendly and informative. Love, love, loved it. THANK YOU.

We were very grateful for the extremely generous Welcome pack, all of which we enjoyed. The cottage provided everything we needed and was very comfortable. Its situation provides peace and quiet, nothing but birdsong to hear. We spent quite a lot of time down by the creek at Lerryn, enjoying a take-away coffee from little shop. Enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery and also visited Lanhydrock. Didn’t eat out anywhere in the evenings, preferring to cook ourselves and settle in front of the fire We would certainly recommend this cottage

Fantastic base to explore the area. We loved having the garden and enjoyed playing cricket in it, every evening. 15 minute walk to the Ship Inn through a lovely orchard. Couldn’t fault the accommodation, and lovely welcome basket on arrival. I’ve not used a cafetière for years but ordered one to be delivered for when we get home as we used theirs everyday… would highly recommend this property - we had a lovely holiday - thank you!

  • "This is a really lovely property in a rural and pretty part of Cornwall - it makes an ideal base for exploring places like Fowey, Looe, Polperro and the Eden project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are an easy drive away."

We travelled with two young children and the enclosed garden was ideal for them to safely run around in. The property itself felt spacious, the shower was good and the beds were comfortable. There was plenty of kitchen equipment as well as a supply of fresh scones, milk, tea and wine on arrival. Some additions that would have made it more family-friendly would have been the availability of stair gates and a high chair (the Skyes website said a high chair was available but this was not the case), but we managed to cope without. Our only regret was that we only booked one week rather than two!

  • "Excellent, clean barn."

We had a lovely stay. Loved the welcome goodies and the flowers. Beautiful surroundings. Cleaning products and sanitiser provided. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. The kids loved the stepping stones at Lerryn. The Eden Project is a must as it's so close. Suggestions: (only minor) Up to date leaflets about things to do in the area and a welcome book would be useful...eg: local restaurants, nearest supermarkets, taxis, hospital, emergency doctor, etc... (I'm aware most people will have access to this on their phones but I'm old school!) Suggested walks to do with maps A small saucepan would have been useful Salt & Pepper Mills Garlic crusher and a few more utensils.

The cottage was very good and lovely and warm and cosy, the kitchen could have done with a bigger or second radiator as that was the only area that was cold but we just left the door open to the lounge' also there was no welcome book about the cottage but the owner was there and explained about the TV & Wifi etc there were a few essential things not in the inventory like bread bin, Pint glasses and normal glasses (there were plastic ones but not the same to drink from) and dishes to put in the microwave to warm food up no recycling facilities at the cottage so we ended up bringing it all back to do at home it said fuel was included in the rent for the fire but we only had about 4 logs , I am glad we took a bag of coal as we used that as well other wise a very nice cottage

The accommodation was lovely and in a secluded setting. You would need a car if staying at this cottage as it is quite tucked away from the nearest village. There were just a few kitchen utensils that I felt were missing but apart from that it was an amazing cottage and would recommend staying there. Hope to be back in the near future.

Great communication both with Sykes and owners. Met by owner on arrival and shown where everything was. Lovely welcome bowl of local tea, coffee, cream tea and wine. Walk down to village was about 15 minutes via pathway. It can be steep in places so if you have mobility problems would be easier to drive down. We booked for meals at The Ship Inn for meals which is advisable. The local store by river was lovely ,providing hot pasties, home made cakes etc. Wi-Fi worked well but due to location no phone signal. Would love to visit again.

About the location

LERRYN

Lostwithiel 3 miles; Bodmin 10 miles.

For those seeking peace, tranquillity and the unspoilt splendour of Cornwall’s ‘softer’ southern coast there can be few finer spots than Lerryn. Sitting at the very point where the River Lerryn joins the highest tidal reach of a creek leading up from the Fowey estuary, the village has a timeless, natural beauty no matter the season. Footpaths meander through the woods and along the river bank while out on the water the small boats owned by local residents provide another means of travelling down stream to Fowey (3.5miles) for shopping or just something to do in wonderful surroundings. The village boasts an award winning pub/restaurant and has a small shop and post office. Nearby Lostwithiel is renowned also for its good restaurants and antique shops. The stunning Eden Project (8 miles), the Shipwreck Harbour at Charlestown, the lovely fishing village and harbour of Mevagissey, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the stately home and gardens at Lanhydrock (NT) can all be reached in under half an hour while Padstow and the rolling surf of the north coast are just over 20 miles away.
