  • "This was a nice cottage but not as nice as other Skye cottages we have stayed at, it would be nice if people who have dogs that stay at this cottage made sure they cleared up after their dogs instead of leaving their dogs mess for someone to tread in like my husband did which is not at all pleasant,I understand this is not the owners fault it's not nice."

The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we could possibly need. The hot tub and the pool table were great to have and the location was beautiful and very peaceful. We would recommend anyone to go here….amazing!

  • "A beautiful cottage with everything you will need."

The pictures don’t actually do the cottage justice, its immaculately clean with a well equipped kitchen and very spacious rooms, with 2 lovely enclosed gardens - one small which is accessible via the lounge room and a large rear garden which has far reaching views. We loved having our breakfast in the rear garden watching the playing lambs. The lounge room is very comfortable and the pool table is a great addition. It’s a great base to explore the area then coming back to relax in the hot tub. We have had a great week and would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage and look forward to visiting again.

  • "Spacious, well equipped and everything good quality with comfortable beds."

The location is good for exploring North Devon and only five miles from Westward Ho, a beautiful beach and nice seaside town. The House had been made welcome for us with Christmas Tree (Christmas Week booking). The owners were very helpful and friendly.

Nice jacuzzi surrounded by smaller buildings so even in windy condition you can enjoy it. Pool table is a nice addition and keeps everybody busy even in bad weather. Cottage is away from the city in quiet location but still only 5 minutes from shops so great. We enjoyed our stay there very much

  • "This is a beautiful and comfortable property."

We spent a delightful week and enjoyed the peace, the views and the hot tub. It is well located for visiting the beach at Northam Burrows and other popular tourist spots such as Rosemoor (RHS), Hartland Point, Bideford, The Tarka Trail and others. The house is spacious and well equipped. My only criticism is that, despite the sloped access to the front door, inside the house there were several deep steps from the hallway to the dining room and from the dining room to the kitchen. My mother is now elderly and disabled. She uses a stick in the house and a mobility scooter when out and about. The bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and same level were great, but the steps were a persistent problem. I noticed a recent previous guest reviewed with the same point.

  • "A pleasant cottage in a quiet location but close to amenities in Bideford."

Lots of steps internally mean it would be a challenge for someone with mobility issues. Stairs to upstairs are also very steep. A problem with the electrics was promptly dealt with by the owner. We also pointed out the lack of a shower mat which made the shower lethal & she promised to rectify for the next guests. The inside of the property was spotless but the outside decking areas were a bit grubby. The dog really enjoyed it & the garden was secure- though a large dog might jump the fences! Mine tried… overall we had a nice break.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. We are sorry you had a problem with the electrics. We identified it was a problem with the tumble drier and we can confirm that we now have a new one. We agree that the multi level and steep steps and stairs could cause issues to anyone with limited mobility and our property description does highlight multiple levels. The cottage is however very old, full of character and built at a time when accessibility wasn't a consideration. We have also taken on board your comments about the shower mat, the first time this issue has been raised since the cottage became available for holidays in 2018 and one is now provided. Finally, the decking is 5 years old. It is regularly powerwashed and treated but being a natural material rather than manmade it is impossible to make it look like new. Property Owner

The back garden quickly became our favourite area to just sit , relax and enjoy the vista. The local pub is a 15 minute walk anywhere else is a short drive . If your looking for a change of pace and a quiet break this is the place.

There were no unexpected surprises, everything was as we thought it would be once we had made our booking. Waking up to the sound of the lambs in a morning was an added bonus. Good location to explore North Devon especially with 3 dogs who love a run on the beach. For anyone who needs electric hook up, we found a fast charge at the petrol station near Aldi/Asda.

We enjoyed watching the sheep and lambs in the fields and a nice hot soak in the hot tub even on the cooler days.
