  • "Excellent stay!"

Very comfortable and well equipped property in a super village location. Although the weather was mixed we enjoyed doing different things in the area each day and rarely used the car as there are frequent, cheap trains available from the railway station opposite. It was a truly relaxing stay and the communication with and friendliness of our host was great at all times.

Delighted your stay was so relaxing and you enjoyed the facilities at the apartment. Property Owner

  • "We had a good holiday the accommodation was lovely, very clean and very well equipped and though it is mentioned in the listing about a railway line, I don’t think it says enough about how busy or noisy early in the day it can be."

The back of the property and from the lounge was indeed tranquil with the river setting and a lovely place to take coffee and read.

I am pleased to know that you had a good holiday at Riverview. The railway line is indeed close to the entrance side of the property and we hope that the triple glazing would help minimise any noise nuisance. I am sorry that in this instance you were disappointed. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Riverview."

The apartment was well equipped, tastefully furnished and clean. It's perfectly located and a great base for exploring Cornwall. Lostwithiel is a lovely small town with lots of amenities and it had a fabulous atmosphere whilst we were there during the Queen's Jubilee weekend. When not joining in with the local festivities, we enjoyed sitting out on the balcony soaking up the view and the sunshine. Having a train station outside was handy for our day trip to St. Ives. Riverview is but a stone's throw from the Eden Project and nearby Fowey and Polperro are worth a visit. We would definitely recommend!

  • "An excellent week's stay at Riverside and just about to book again for next year."

Initially, when we arrived we were slightly surprised that areas in the kitchen and cloakroom were not as clean as expected - but a short burst of activity soon resolved things. It almost looked as though it had not had a proper clean before our arrival - we were the first booking of 2022 we understand. However, that exception apart, a new en-suite bathroom had just been put in, and everything else about the apartment was magnificent. A perfect position, easy access to the town and all places of interest in the locality with lots of great walks. Foodies Cafe is great, also Asquith's for a lovely evening meal, as was The Crown at Lanlivery. We loved the view over the river from the lounge, also the view over the railway from the kitchen. We slept incredibly well too. All in all, a great place for a week out of season.

Delighted that your stay was so enjoyable. Very disappointed that the standard of cleanliness was unacceptable. Thank you for letting us know and we will endeavour to ensure this is rectified. Property Owner

Parking was not a problem, we have a 8 seater bus, and it fitted fine, parking is under cover, but there is a dentist hut facing which is closed , so you can park there, but it gets full of a morning with people getting the train, but not a problem of a evening. The price we paid was a bargain. Two minor points to which the owner might attend: 1. The shower tray at the En suite was very slow to drain, and 2. The dimmer light switch in the lounge may need to be replaced, as the lights intermittently flicker and go out despite being turned on.

  • "The accommodation was listed as a 6 person apartment with parking."

The accommodation itself was great, very comfortable and thoughtfully prepared. However our visit was spoiled by the parking. Parking is clearly an issue at this location and we were pestered by neighbours constantly asking about cars (not ours) parked in 'the wrong place'. We have a large car (one that accommodates 5 people, as I imagine most people renting this accommodation will have) and we really struggled to park it in the given slot. We were reliant on the neighbour parking her car well over in her slot in order to be able to get out of the car once parked, meaning if she hadn't done that we would have not been able to access the car. I know there is little that can be done about the size of the car port slot, but I think the description should indicate that the space is for a small car, and not a people carrier or SUV, which is frankly the most likely vehicle that a family of 5 or 6 will have. We were told by the landlady to park in the Dentist parking slot, but this is only available at the weekend. During the week of our stay there was then no parking. This really ruined our holiday, and I see that other visitors have raised this. Had I known that parking was going to be a problem I would have booked elsewhere. The neighbours were very nice, but we met all five of them and they were asking about the parking all of the time. Hassle for them, and hassle for us. Not a holiday!

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to leave us your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you had problems with the parking during your stay. We have now amended the property description to state that allocated parking is available for one medium sized car. Further parking can be found close by to the property and in the town center. Furthermore, we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Riverview. Property Owner

About the location

LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
