The owners are welcoming but not intrusive, on hand if there are any issues, not that we had any. We enjoyed our refreshing break at the Lynhay so much we intend to return fairly soon. Thank you D &D

"Absolutely lovely cottage, with easy access to the moors."
Plus an absolutely lovely range of birds that were feeding in the garden. Cottage was always warm and cosy and is a well designed and furnished. Lovely surprise to have scones, cream and jam on arrival. We would happily stay again.

"The Linhay was fantastic."
We were welcomed with a Christmas tree and lights, which was lovely for our trip in December. The accommodation was clean and provided us with all essentials. Log burner was a treat for the cold evenings. It was out 10 year wedding anniversary and it was made special with the stay at linhay. We will certainly be back.

"We had a lovely stay at The Linhay once again and didn’t want to leave."
A really peaceful location and comfortable accommodation with everything you need. Woke up to birdsong every morning - it was an extremely relaxing and a great base for getting out and about. Looking forward to our next stay!

We particularly appreciated the outlook, peace, wildlife, access to moor and inside the comfortable bed and luxurious shower. We are missing it now home but hope to return!

"Fantastic stay at the Linhay, everything you need for a relaxing break."
Dartmoor on your doorstep. Lots of lovely walks to do, or places to visit. Back to the Linhay to completely chill out. Will definitely visit again.

"Wonderful hosts a d the best holiday retreat you will ever find"
-
"Just perfect."
Down a quiet lane, surrounded by countryside. Comfortable, warm, and most importantly for me dog friendly. Even the Oct weather cooperated, was lovely laying in bed hearing the rain lashing down, but waking up to a fine morning. Saw pheasants, squirrels, and lots of song birds. There are both cattle and sheep on the nearby moor, but honestly that’s to be expected. Couldn’t fault, would love to return one day.

"A lovely cottage that contained everything needed for a comfortable stay."
Situated in a very quiet location it was convenient for many walks and interesting places to visit. I would recommend it to family and friends
-
"Remote location - perfect for walking our lab."
Very helpful owners. Ideal location for visiting towns or country. Walk around Lydon Gorge (both ways) to really appreciate the location and do at least one long walk along the Dartmoor Way taking in the church on top of Brent tor. A must if you are fit and keen walkers. We now miss the piece and tranquility (and the cheeky pheasant and his intended!).!
-
"We really loved our stay at The Linhay - I can’t imagine we’d want to stay anywhere else on Dartmoor."
It was so comfortable and peaceful and we enjoyed watching the different birds from our window! The cream tea that was waiting when we arrived was such a lovely welcome. We enjoyed being able to walk out onto the moor and it was perfectly located for us to easily get to all the places we wanted to go. We will be back!
-
"Lovely cosy accommodation in a beautiful and peaceful location surrounded by wildlife with direct access onto the open moor, perfect for long dog walks."
Danielle and David are charming hosts. Lydford Gorge is on the doorstep with NT tea room (open in season) and the Castle Inn is dog friendly and does great food. Our week was blessed with glorious spring sunshine, but regardless, we’ll be back. An ideal base to explore what Dartmoor has to offer.
-
"Lovely location, very quiet."
Stunning walks right on your doorstep. Easy access to pretty much all of dartmoor. The property was well laid out and well equipped. Friendly hosts who respected our privacy. The only complaint i have was the squeaky floors. Definitely recommend though.
-
"A brilliant holiday apartment."
Tastefully decorated and furnished and so well equipped. Well maintained. Good location and lovely hosts. The communication from Helpful Holidays was excellent.

"We had a wonderful stay at the Linhay."
The cottage was spacious for two people and a small dog, it had everything we needed and was very well presented, clean and comfortable. We were greeted with a cream tea which was just what we needed after our trip there. The hosts were friendly and welcoming but not intrusive. We felt like we could ask should there be anything we needed and it would be no problem, but the cottage was so well equipped we didn't need to ask for anything! The location of the cottage was great for exploring Dartmoor with our dog, with walks straight out onto Gibbet hill and Black down. The cottage is quiet, peaceful and isolated, surrounded by farm land, nature and bird song. It's ideally located to visit many of the sights of Devon and Cornwall and return home to a comfortable rest.
-
"A wonderful place to stay with everything you need and more."
The property owners are friendly and welcoming. The location is great for walking on Dartmoor and to explore Devon and Cornwall.
-
"Brilliant location for walking, whisper quiet at night and a very comfortable place to stay."
-
"We had a great time at this lovely place, will definitely return soon!"
-
"Cosy and well equipped comfortable hideaway with access onto the moor and a short walk from the gorge."
Weather was wet during my stay, but the accommodation felt like a home from home, so I still had a fabulous time. Recommended for those looking for a peaceful location. Around 1 1/2-2miles into Lydford which has 2 pubs, a farm shop and small shop on the campsite (depending on season). The Linhay feels private, but is also near the owners house who are lovely and on hand if anything needed. If you have a dog, you will need to accompany it when it has to go outside. Would be happy to return again.
-
"The Linhay is a delightful cottage very close to Lidford Gorge and in a beautiful setting."
Our host made us very welcome and the cottage is very well furnished with everything you need. Thoroughly recommended.
-
"The perfect away-from-it-all retreat, thoughtfully and tastefully appointed with plenty of great walks and places of interest nearby."
And, of course, the lovely friendly and welcoming host family. If you want somewhere quiet where you feel you are living among the treetops this is the place for you.
-
"The location was perfect for exploring Devon and Cornwall."
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The Linhay was well equipped and so peaceful right on the edge of the moors.
-
"The owners, Danielle and David, were very welcoming."
The location is great - straight through a gate onto the moors. The accomodation was very comfortable and had everything that we needed. Would highly recommend.
-
"Couldn’t fault it ."
It was wonderful.
-
"A really lovely and peaceful hideaway for two - comfortable and spacious, with direct access to the moors for walking etc."
Lots to see and do locally, with great pubs for food and drink. Very friendly and helpful owners who live next door, but plenty of privacy too. Wonderful wildlife spotting possibilities, including directly from the main living area. Thoroughly recommended.
-
"Location was perfect easy reach of many beautiful walks and the cottage itself ..."
Location was perfect easy reach of many beautiful walks and the cottage itself had everything you could possibly need and was very cosy
-
"Warm, cosy, comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean with welcoming hosts."
We loved the rural situation and being able to walk out of the door, through a gate and out onto the Moor and so nice to come back to a welcoming log fire. It was our perfect Christmas escape. Wonderful.
-
"Quiet peaceful and well appointed."
Feature for us was the busiest bird feeding station ever with a diverse range of visiting birds. The only downside was the lack of a direct access to the garden area which meant we could not let the dogs wander in and out as they like to do. Plenty of areas to walk the dogs on the property though. The hosts were friendly and welcoming.
-
"Our Hosts were very warm and welcoming."
Lovely rural setting on the very edge of Dartmoor itself. On the doorstep to Lydford Gorge. Great for walking. Local Inns all good for food and accommodated our little dog without any problems. Our real favourites - liver and bacon in the Bearslake, and steak and blue cheese pie in the Castle Inn.
-
"Totally all we wanted brilliant and such great hosts"
-
"Our 2nd stay and as with the first it was again just perfect."
Comfortable accommodation in such a great setting. Gate from property direct onto Dartmoor. Location is great for Lydford Gorge and Tavistock for shopping. The location means you can go south, west or north for those days out.
-
"Cottage was lovely, setting was lovely, area is beautiful."
We had a really nice time. Minor, minor issues - it would have been great to be able to open the door and let the dogs straight out into the garden. Also might be worth mentioning there are chickens in the grounds.
-
"Absolutely brilliant, gorgeous location, and accommodation was just great."
Can't fault it . Highly recommended, you really must stay here . We will definitely be back for another holiday. Thanks for a lovely holiday, and dog friendly too . !!!. These two dogs enjoyed exploring Dartmoor and the surrounding area.
-
"A lovely Cottage with every thing we needed, peaceful and quite."
Being on the very edge of the moor our dog thought he had gone to doggy heaven. only one sore point, my head, as one wall had a slope which came down to within 2 ft of the floor. Ok when you got use to it. G Denness

"We spent a relaxing week at the Linhay and were really impressed with the accommodation."
The facilities and furnishings are all of a high quality and the owners are friendly and helpful. We’ll defiantly consider a repeat stay when we visit beautiful Dartmoor again.
-
"An excellent property which is equipped with quality items."
Good location. Excellent local pub for food. Congregation at Lydford Church very friendly and interested in visitors. Lots of places to visit within reasonable driving distance.
-
"Great holiday experience."
If anything the property description and photographs didn't quite do justice to the Linhay, a lovely, comfortable and stylish apartment set in beautiful surroundings.
