  • "The cottage had everything I needed, it was like a home from home."

The cottage outside looks tired but I saw it up for sale so that may explain why. The garden furniture was tired. I would have definitely booked again the location and parking was a bonus. Lovely stay

  • "Lovely cottage and decor but woken at 5 30 am every morning as blinds let in too much light."

Prefer king sized bed, plenty of room for one. Patio rather scruffy, swept it myself, also cleaned outside of kitchen window as lovely view spoiled by dirty window.

  • "2nd time we've stayed here."

All great except: Matress in master bedroom not comfortable we ended up having to sleep seperatley just to try and get some sleep. Need additional blackout curtains in main bedroom (I know theres already a blind but light still comes in) No knife sharpener Everything else was superb. But I'm not sure we'll be back for a third time due to the bad sleeping situation. Maybe wev'e been spoiled with the Hypnos sprung matress we have at home.....

  • "We had another lovely holiday stay in Half Moon cottage."

Its a fabulous place to stay. Comfortable space with everything you need. Great location. Minor issues were sorting the heating as it was a cold week and use of the oven could do with instructions. These were eventually remedied so not really a problem. I would thoroughly recommend staying here. It's just great!

  • "A beautiful well equipped cottage."

Great views of the bay and surrounding area. Within easy reach of local amenities, although the hills were steep! Perfect for our Christmas break. Would definitely recommend and come back if it wasn’t at the top of a hill (I’m asthmatic)

  • "Lovely clean property and well equipped."

Good to have a parking space with the cottage. Nice outdoor area and secure for a dog (with no Houdini tendencies). Lovely selection of books, maps and games if needed. Laundry room was a bonus as ideal for boots, coats and dog towels. The wood burner made the chilly evenings pleasurable. Outside light (once we had changed the bulb) was useful when returning after dark as no street lighting at the back. Would describe the location as the top of town meaning a hill down and a hill back up. But for us that was not an issue. This also means there is a view from the bedroom window across the valley where it catches the morning sun. Overall a very enjoyable stay at Half Moon Cottage. A property we would use again when we next visit Lyme Regis.

  • "Halfmoon cottage was really lovely."

We were pleasantly surprised. The property was really clean. Beds were comfortable. Welcome hamper was a nice touch and very useful. Only negatives were that the courtyard could do with a bit of a tidy up and the outside light needs to be looked as it was flickering constantly which was rather annoying. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend.

  • "3 adults enjoyed the stay very much."

Just the right level of decor and facilities for us. Very comfy beds. Ideal to have utility and laundry just as you enter the property and for taking off boots and cleaning the dog. Having a car parking space is just so handy and the walk into town and the seaside is easy if hilly. There is a little woodland walk just next door ideal for dogs. Nice bathrooms too. A few little maintenance issues need tending to or to be aware of : the kitchen ceiling lights can fuse if running the fans, microwave and oven but easily rectified, the fan in the bathroom isn't working. It is a nuisance to have to take recycling to the Bridport recycling centre as the car park and Morrisons only take newspapers and things like Pringles containers not glass, plastic etc!!!!! Lovely places to eat : Eddy at The Mill, the Black Dog tea room at UpLyme is thoroughly recommended to and walks at Mapperton (pick up leaflets at the tea room there) and of course Charmouth beach if you have a dog.

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed the property, and will look into the small maintenance issues reported. The rubbish collection is a commercial scheme and is sorted at the recycling depot. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

Lovely weather on our stay which was great as you can easily walk down to beach and restaurants. Could do with a small bbq on patio and rather hot upstairs at night ,could do with some fans.

Really central to beach and restaurants, very steep walks for those with mobility issues. Parking space an absolute bonus and outside seating area.

  • "Although we loved the cottage, I would never have booked it if I'd known that the main bedroom ran over two rooms in the neighbouring cottage."

More importantly it overlooked their garden and seating area - a recipe for disaster on a summer night. This should be explained in the description. Luckily nobody occupied the adjoining cottage but I was on pins throughout our stay! Think it should also have been made clearer that the cottage is very high up and the hills are hard for two mid -70 year olds to negotiate.

We had a lovely stay for Easter weekend we will be back. Just a note to less able the cottage is on top of a very very steep hill and you have to go up and down to get to the shops and the beach

  • "A comfortable little cottage that was very clean and had good modern appliances."

Rather near a main road for our liking. Single duvet is feather, so take your own if you’re allergic. However, beware of cancellations to your booking! We were forced to cancel a Christmas booking as my mother’s carer had to go away unexpectedly. Although we re-booked for March and would willing have paid the extra amount, the Agency insisted on charging us for both the Christmas week and the March week. We also asked that, if the Christmas week was re-booked by another guest, we could be let off but to no avail. We felt this was rather sharp practice and was not a very ethical way to behave.

  • "The cottage was lovely."

We had everything we needed. There was everything we needed in the cottage, and it was in a great location. We were thrilled to listen to the owls at night. It did get quite cold at times, even with the heating on. We would have paid extra for wood and kindling. The children loved the games thank you and it was a comfortable place to relax after a day out. One criticism would be the duvet in the double room was too thin. Unfortunately we broke an egg cup we are sorry and will reimburse.

The instructions to find the cottage could be better ( particularly as arrival time meant finding it in the dark) The heating was not on when we arrived and although there was a log burner there was nothing to light a fire… not very welcoming Apart from that it’s a nice little cottage and comfortable beds

  • "We have stayed in this property 12 months previously as it’s a lovely property, perfect position with parking but this time we feel it needs some TLC, main bedroom blind very stained with black damp stain."

Windows need some attention. Sofa also quite stained. Guttering was pouring down soaking the outside wall and coming down the internal porch wall leaking out of the light switch and ceiling light. The heating is on a timer heating the house most of the day which is not needed, also we returned one day to find the en-suite light had been left on (not by ourselves) and the key safe left open at it’s opening number where we had left it locked with numbers mixed up. Despite this it is a lovely, cosy cottage and we did enquire to book for the same time next year but unfortunately the price has risen by £300 for exactly the same time.

The property was clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. It is one of the nicest holiday cottages that we have stayed in, full of light and well furnished. We also enjoyed eating outside in the garden. The position is good, close to town but quiet. Would love to stay there again should we be visiting lovely Lyme Regis.
