  • "Lovely stay, good location."

Nice to have a small welcome pack though. A few teabags, coffee and some milk, there wasn't even any salt and pepper. .Room thermostat was a bit hit and miss, couldn't turn it down at all one night. Would come again though. Thanks.

Hi Geoffrey, Thank you for your feedback. I am so sorry you didn’t receive your Welcome Pack. We do leave a couple of nice gifts for guests but it seems that there was an oversight during the changeover. I’m so sorry about this. Regards, Andrew Property Owner

The property

Lying in the charming riverside village of Lympstone in South East Devon, overlooking the River Exe estuary from a prime position next to the picturesque clock tower, this three-storey cottage offers an excellent holiday home for a family of six.

9 Harefield Cottages is perfectly placed for a holiday full of bike rides, trips to the beach and exploring the cobbled quays and streets of Lympstone, great for a classic family break to Devon.

Enter the property via the long galley kitchen, with terracotta tiling and a striking marine blue fitted kitchen, you rustle up delicious meals for the whole group in here with use of the electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer and make cleaning up a breeze with the slimline dishwasher.

A cloakroom is revealed behind a sliding door, with a basin and WC as well as a washing machine tucked in here too.

Travel along the hall to find the dining room where evenings can be spent talking about the best moments of the day over dinner, before retreating to the sitting room to snuggle up on the sofas with a family favourite film to watch on the TV, and a gas flame-effect fire to add a warming ambiance.

Head up the cottage stairs to find the master bedroom boasting a king-size bed and views over the estuary, with a bunk room up here too, and three steps down the landing bringing you to the family bathroom and a cloakroom too, both featuring lovely skylights creating lovely spaces to freshen up.

A final set of stairs (reasonably steep) reveals the second-floor twin room, perfect for children with two small single beds and more lovely views to admire from the windows.

The front enclosed patio is the perfect place to relax as you take in the surroundings with a morning cup of coffee at the outdoor seating, or enjoy an evening tipple to round off another great day.

Find one of the many footpaths that criss-cross the village of Lympstone to explore the lovely streets and browse the local amenities, with shops, pubs and restaurants to discover, cobbled quays, a pretty harbour and Grade II listed buildings to admire.

Enjoy a bike ride with all the family along the Exe Estuary Trail, an almost entirely traffic-free, level route passing right through Lympstone so you can head north on an excursion up to Topsham and stop to see the sights here or grab a bite to eat, or take the route south to Exmouth and continue on to the beach at Sandy Bay.

The Blue Flag award winning beach of Sandy Bay Beach is a wonderful spot for a beach day with the golden sands sheltered by the surrounding cliffs, which also present opportunities for scenic cliff top strolls, with the beach popular for windsurfing as well.

In Sandy Bay there's also the World of Country Life and Hawkbridge Birds of Prey Centre, both great places to visit with the little ones.

Delight in days out to Topsham with its strong maritime history and cosmopolitan atmosphere enjoying an eclectic mix of specialist shops and fine dining restaurants, or enjoy one of the warmest climates in the UK in Exmouth, marking the beginning of the beautiful Jurassic Coast with its long sandy beach, grab some fish and chips and enjoy them as you take in the views out to sea.

Make wonderful memories in Lympstone with your loved ones at 9 Harefield Cottages.
