  • "We had a good holiday at The Old Ambulance (this was our second visit)."

It is a spacious, well-equipped property. We did find the mattress and pillows to be uncomfortable but this may be a personal preference. As someone who is over 6 feet tall I found the cooker hood to be dangerous. It’s sharp corners were at my eye level. Replacing with a round hood would probably help.

Hi and thank you for taking time to leave some feedback. We have mixed reviews with regard to the mattress’s being that they are orthopaedic memory foam and are debating changing one to see if that one gets a better a response. Hope to welcome you again soon. Wes and Jen Property Owner

  • "Fabulous place."

Sometimes, the pictures look better than the actual property but not in this case - the pictures don’t do it justice. The house is stunning, the location is very central in terms of getting around Somerset for different activities and the price was incredible for what we got. Myself, husband, 2 friends and 2 pooches thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back again. Thank you so much!

  • "Great place to stay and location too."

Accommodation was perfect with the 3 similar sized double bedrooms and good sized bathrooms. Kitchen was perfect and equipment and appliances great. Just one observation. The cleanliness was good but there were a lot of cobwebs high up around the ceilings, around the window reveals and along the skirtings. This suggested they weren’t being cleaned away regularly or there were quite a few spiders. It seems it was the latter. We had a lot of spiders in the property, especially upstairs. Big ones!

Thank you for sharing some feedback with us and are both glad you had a great stay. We live not far for the Old Ambulance House (also surround by fields) and it’s a seasonal battle with the webs as our eight legged friends come indoors as the weather cools. We will of course address this area more in the future. Wes and Jen Property Owner

Enough room for 5 of us plus 2 dogs. The outside space was great for us all. We used for a base to visit the coast and did some sightseeing. Our favourite place was Wells Cathedral. Would highly recommend for a nice relaxing stay with access to lots of different villages close by.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We look forward to welcoming you again. Wes and Jen Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our short stay here."

The house has been newly refurbished and was very clean and nicely presented. The back garden is spacious and the view looks over fields. The kitchen was well-equipped and we appreciated our welcome goodies. Our only fault was that the beds were rather low, all double beds and a little uncomfortable (although presumably new mattresses, so no lumpy bits or springs etc). It would have been better to have some twin beds for families, we thought. The directions were very detailed and as good as they could have been, but it was still a little tricky to find. Perhaps better to arrive in the light in the winter! Overall, though, a very pleasant stay. Thank you to the owners.

Hi, thank you for the great feedback. We’re both glad you had such a great stay and that you got the see the resident owls. We look forward to welcoming with you back. Wes and Jen Property Owner

  • "We had a great weekend at the Old Ambulance House!"

The property had everything we needed as well as some very thoughtful extras. Our dog Charlie loved the outdoor space, the net/gate idea is so effective that we didn’t need to worry about him getting out on the road…he was much more interested in the bunnies and birds anyway! Great farm shops nearby, fab costal walks and towns to explore. Perhaps it may be worth mentioning to future bookings that the local pub (The George Inn) has a 5 week waiting list for a weekend table; we didn’t know so tried to book the week of our stay, it looks lovely though! Thank you for a lovely stay - We wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Hi Teresa and thank you for such a positive review. We are glad you had such a great stay and look forward to welcoming you again and as for the local pub some weeks it’s available and some weeks it’s four or five weeks in advance. unfortunately it was the latter for your visit. • "On 1st sight the accommodation looked good."

...however sofas not as advertised only enough for 4 people not 6 ! The skirting boards were falling off electrical wires exposed (outside) generally scruffy especially the window sills ( not wooden but plastic gaps exposed at each end) bed downstairs had a slat missing and others kept falling out only usable by 1 person. Woefully inadequate hanging space/wardrobes...2 hooks don't cut it! Shower downstairs had chunks of skirting /finishing missing. Great clumps of dust hair etc behind drawers and beds. V bad smell coming from under the sink ...we had to throw out any washing up pads etc before using. Sink in downstairs bathroom took ages to drain...also strong smell when plug was pulled. V disappointed overall....we didn't leave any feedback

Hi and thank you for taking your time to review us, although this did come as a surprise after all the previous good comments before and after your stay. But we would still like to take this opportunity to respond, although we would have welcomed some contact during your stay to put some of the minor grievances right. As the old ambulance house is in a secluded position and is off grid we have had to use a septic/treatment tank that needs emptying every 18 months. When emptying, it causes the drains to smell and unfortunately it was done the day you checked in. We did our best to rectify all the problems it created, but as a side effect of having a treatment plant the drains can periodically smell. As for the bed this was in fact damaged by the previous guests who failed to inform us of this, had you let us know we would put this right straight away. The hanging space in the two main bedrooms upstairs both have wardrobes with plenty of hangers and as I’m sure you will agree, the downstairs has limited space and we have tried our best to facilitate where we can. We did change the sofas in the last couple of weeks and are waiting on Sykes to update the photos. This was unfortunate that the photos were different but should be updated this week. I know you stated that you didn’t leave us any feedback, but like I said previously we would have welcomed it and tried to improve your stay where possible. Wes and Jen Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at this property in a beautiful part of the country."

Lots to do in the area for all the family. Having the downstairs bedroom and bathroom was ideal for my mum. The property is done to a high standard but there are a few things that could make it more comfortable. The sofa area seated no more than 4, at a push. Definitely another sofa needed to make it comfortable for a party of 6. The fridge also wasn’t large enough to hold food for 6 people. The upstairs was spacious. It might be useful to have one of the king-sized beds as a zip-lock so that it can be made into 2 singles if required. The outside space was ideal for our dogs and children - lovely big garden. Would benefit from some nice outside seating as, again, this would make it more comfortable for a party of 6. Just a couple of small tweaks would make this property exceptional.

Hi Sarah. We’re glad you had a great stay and have taken the time to review us. We have listened :) and added a few improvements to The Old Ambulance House with larger Sofas more garden furniture and an extra Freezer for more storage. Wes and Jen Property Owner
