  • "The inside of the lodge was beautiful, clean and comfortable, however there was extensive noisy, muddy building work taking place a few feet away from the lodge itself."

A new road is being put in alongside for access to numerous new lodges which are being brought into the fields behind. Hence the area around the lodge is no longer what it was.

Thank you so much for taking the time for your lovely feedback about “Poppy Lodge” that you found it beautiful, clean and comfortable, a “home from home.” Sorry that you experienced disruption during your stay caused by the park owners upgrading the site. As you said yourself during our many conversations and texts that you “understand that this is completely outside of your control,” I explained that we had absolutely no knowledge of any of this. We were glad it was only for a short time and that you were able to enjoy the rest of your holiday and that you would like to return to glorious Devon and the park to see the final result of the upgrading works when it is all completed, as you said “I am sure it will be lovely.” We look forward to welcoming you back. • "We had a lovely stay at Poppy Lodge."

Welcome pack was the best we’ve ever had. The lodge was very clean and comfortable. Very well equipped. It’s a lovely base for visiting other areas, only 10 mins drive to Ilfracombe and it looked to have a regular bus service. Unfortunately there was some ground work happening directly outside the Lodge during our stay but this was completely out of the owners control and she kept in touch regularly with us about this situation. It didn’t spoil our holiday. We would return.

  • "The accommodation was excellent and the owner very helpful in her communications."

It would have been good if there had been a directions' notice for Meadow View lodges 1-20; there were for all the others. The wooden steps from the decking were not so easy to see going down them because they rather blended into each other in appearance. There was a need for a white/yellow line along the edge of each one.

  • "Do not recommend"

Thank you for taking the time to do a review. We are however very disappointed at your score and comment, particularly as you had stated that “the lodge is beautiful” when we spoke and that you would not give us a bad review! We were sorry to hear that your time with us was disturbed by construction traffic and work by the Site owners to improve the park. As you were fully aware we had NO prior knowledge of any work being done while you were staying at Poppy Lodge, and we did let you know that there was some rubble in the field prior to your arrival. The issues you raised were nothing to do with the property (lodge owners) and completely out of our control. The vehicles passed 20+ other lodges to get to the access to the fields in front of Poppy Lodge and others yet, according to the park you were the only ones to complain!! We did offer you a good will gesture which you chose to reject. Property Owner

  • "Poppy Lodge is the best holiday home we have stayed in."

It is lovely and bright, clean and peaceful, with lovely views over the meadow. The welcome pack was varied and generous. The games provided in the cupboard was an added bonus for evenings or wet days. All in all, we found Poppy Lodge to be a lovely home from home - we couldn’t fault it! We thoroughly recommend this property.

Thank you for taking the time to write your wonderful review, and score, so glad you thought "Poppy Lodge" was "lovely home from home" and liked all the added bonuses and your welcome pack, we do try and make everybody feel welcome and want them to enjoy their holiday. Very pleased you were able to relax and enjoy your holiday in this beautiful part of Devon and hope to see you again sometime. Property Owner

  • "I found the double bed uncomfortable."

It was too firm for me. Also, the key safe is located using the ‘what three words’ system that I don’t understand. It would be better to say the key safe is on the fence post opposite the door. It was good to find that the single beds are suitable for adults.

Thank you for taking the time to do a review, however we were very surprised and disappointed at your comments considering we had spoken and you sent a text saying “we are having a lovely time at your lodge.” You even asked if your friends who were staying in Mortehoe could stay at our lodge. Sorry you found the bed too hard, all our other guests found it to their liking, saying how comfortable the beds are and people have felt refreshed in the morning ready to explore beautiful Devon. When we spoke I did mention that Sykes had sent you an email with very clear instructions marked “Collecting your keys”, you said you must have a look for the email! Please do, so you can see for yourself. Hope you had a good journey home. Property Owner

  • "We have never stayed at a property with so much attention to detail."

It was everything we wanted to experience. It was luxurious and secluded. Very close to the coast and other areas. We actually stayed when it was the hottest September on record and it was so enjoyable. The owners were in touch in order to ensure that we were pleased with their property, and of course we were.
