  • "A very well equipped and comfortable cottage in an idyllic location."

Not far from the SW coast path but quite remote. An OS map is certainly useful when navigating the network of narrow lanes to and from Brook Cottage although the B3186 between N.Ferrers and Yealmpton is fairly near. The arrival goodies were much appreciated. We had a very restful time and will miss the peaceful setting, seeing the llamas and wonderful birdsong.

Stayed for a week. 4 adults. Bedroom with bathrooms on separate floor. Cottage was well equipped. Peaceful. Lovely setting. Lovely walks. Good communication with owner about arrival/departure. Enjoyed the weeks stay. Weather helped as was able to sit out in the lovely garden which has Alpacas in the next field.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Quiet and very comfortable accommodation for 6 people."

Excellent facilities and friendly staff .Good location to access Plymouth , Torquay, Exeter and local beaches. Guests need to access property via narrow tracks so could prove challenging for some drivers.

Thank you for your comments. We’re glad you liked Brook Cottage. I should just point out that, while there are some bridle and other tracks near the cottage, the access route is via tarmacked roads rather than “tracks”. These lanes are regularly used by cars of all different types and sizes, oil and refuse lorries and supermarket delivery vans. Property Owner

We loved the garden and stream, with views of the herd of alpacas. The Ship in Noss Mayo was so good we ate there 3 times in the week, and found the walk wasn't too strenuous despite the gradual hill back.

  • "Lovely cottage with well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds."

Spacious garden that we didn't get to make the most of in October but I imagine would be lovely in the summer. The route to the cottage is via narrow lanes but we managed fine in a VW camper van and met very few cars. Parking was also sufficient for a van. Location was great for coastal walks.

  • "Our party of 5 all loved the cottage & it's beautiful surroundings."

It is remote & serviced by narrow lanes as described, which can be daunting at first but got used to them, you just need to slow down & be prepared to reverse when required! This remoteness means no passing traffic & this makes it a little sanctuary with almost only the sounds of nature. The cottage was very spacious, in very good order & very well equipped. The parking for the 2nd car wasn't the best as the garage is tight to get a car in & out of but in the big picture it's not a showstopper. There are 3 great beaches nearby (Wembury, Mothecombe & Bigbury) all worth a visit and lending time at.

  • "The cottage is lovely, very comfortable with everything you could possibly want and we were 3 couples and 3 babies."

The garden is great, the chickens and Alpacas are fun and the valley beautiful. Matt, who looks after the place is brilliant, nothing is too much trouble. It was perfect for us. It is a bit out of the way but once you have got used to the roads (they are narrow) it was not a problem. The nearby beaches are stunning, we were lucky with the weather and manage to spend most of our time on them. The Ship Inn in Noss Mayo is also worth a visit (even with 3 babies!)

  • "I would not recommend this property as it was extremely hard to find ."

We had to reverse up two lanes twice about 400 mtr . As the lanes to the cottage are not passable. We found this very nerve racking and as such we did not drive out the whole week and had to walk everywhere . The most annoying part was the Sat Nav route is a road that makes the drive very simple and could be easily usable with some attention . We did no see the hosts at all the only contact we had was from there very nice grounds men. In the cottage at least three cereal bowls were badly chipped and two plates.

We are very sorry you had trouble with the Devon lanes. However, there are frequent passing places and many people who live in and travel to our beautiful and tranquil hamlet do manage them daily without any problem, including regular supermarket delivery vans. Thank you for bringing the chipped crockery to our attention. Property Owner

The owners left us a bottle of wine and fresh eggs fron the farm as a welcome treat. The cottage is a true gem, it’s spacious, cosy and has a beautiful garden at the back with a babbling brook. The fireplace was a big plus. The location is secluded and very idyllic, surrounded by the infinitely green rolling hills and is in close proximity to the coast and the walking paths. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay there and would like to return in the near future.

However as the week progressed the travelling became more familiar and easier. The property was immaculately presented and extremely well equiped and very comfortable. The courtyard, brook and garden beyond were a delight, just a shame the weather didn't encourage their use. The owners and support staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Feeding the Alpacas and Chickens was great fun for the whole family. Highly recommend.

  • "It was a lovely cottage, in a beautiful part of the Devon countryside."

Peaceful, and relaxing with access to the coast via walks, or car and close to other places to visit. Nice and spacious cottage with a lovely sized garden. Great to see the free range chickens wandering, and also all the alpacas in the fields. Matt was very helpful, giving directions for walks, and letting us know he was there if needed, but not intrusive. Most roads were typical for the area, narrowish, but plenty of passing points, and no stress from other drivers. It is worth knowing that the location of the cottage does require travel down some very narrow single track roads, some cars may find them a challenge, we managed fairly well in my Nissan Juke. They do tell you one of the two possibles route in is only suited to 4x4 vehicles, which we avoided due the their advice.

It suited our needs perfectly (two children under 6; a grandparent and parents). The cottage was clean and spacious and had a well equipped kitchen. The site contacts were quick to respond and helpful if we had any queries. One of the team took his time with us feeding the alpacas and chickens (which was definitely a highlight for our children). There were lots of lovely and varied places to visit - beaches, towns, walks and other attractions to visit. We really did love our holiday and didn't want to leave!

  • "We enjoyed our holiday at Brook Cottage very much."

The farm is delightful and we enjoyed the peace and quiet enormously as well as watching the alpacas and free range chickens. The house is spacious, well equipped and very well maintained and a beautiful setting. We enjoyed walking to the coast path and Stoke beach which is really lovely, and saw many butterflies and birds throughout our stay as we were very fortunate with good weather on most days. Wembury was wonderful for rock pools. We arranged an Asda delivery which worked out really well and meant we didn't have to go shopping at all. Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday.

  • "Brook Cottage was as described, 5-star accommodation set in the beautiful countryside of South Devon."

The directions provided by the owner were excellent and it wasn’t difficult to find, although some of the lanes to access it were quite small and, for us at least, it was a drive rather than walk to the beach, these were also easily located. Our favourite beach in the Hams is Bigbury on Sea which took us between 25-35 minutes but armed with a picnic and beach chairs/swimwear we spent two (different) days there. Parking is quite expensive (£12/day) but if you go equipped you don’t need to spend anything else other than ice creams. Mothecombe was lovely though at least a 5-minute walk down - if you’re not fit (and I am not!) then you can at the very least double that on the way back as the steep lanes were quite hard - if you’re fit (like my teenagers) then you won’t notice it so much. Hope Cove was another great visit and there are two or three lovely pubs serving food, a small car park and fantastic views and coastal walks. We were lucky with the weather and had a wonderful week away with the family, made all the more pleasant by returning to such a beautiful cottage. We will be back

The village pub, with fantastic views across the water towards Noss Mayo and the creek, serves good food and drink. The area is blessed with many walks that meander along the waterside and across the fields, while to the north Dartmoor's high tors and open spaces beckon those who love wild country.
