"We had a fabulous stay at Moon Lizard."
The whole space has been very well through out. The fixtures and fittings are finished to a high standard. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, as is the whole house, and the treats left for us were a very tasty and thoughtful touch. The living space is great for casual entertaining, and suits all ages. The little nook proved useful for the annoying (and inevitable) unfinished bits of work. Although we didn’t venture out much due to poor weather, the outside space was great for the smalls of our group to get a bit of fresh air between downpours, and we imagine would be fabulous during the summer. As mentioned by another reviewer, we had no mobile service and I would recommend that before arrival any documents be made available offline to help speed up initial entry. Once connected, the WiFi was more than adequate. Huge thank you to Wendy and Jamie for the great communication, too. I hope all your guest enjoy their stay as much as we did ours.

"Splendid modern home."
Well equipped. Comfortably warm (essential for late October holiday). Lovely views. Very accommodating owners who lived next door. Ship Inn and The Swan provide great meals nearby, though we did most of our own catering. Highly recommended.

"Absolutely perfect for our family holiday; across 3 generations, with the youngest aged just 9 months."
The bedroom configuration options meant we could have 3 double bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. Always a tricky thing to find.
The property was spotlessly clean, and extremely comfortable. We were blessed with good weather, and the bi-fold doors were fabulous, allowing the outside in, and connecting the outside space to the open plan living area.
The office area was an unexpected bonus, as one of the party could continue working from home at times (he is self-employed, I hasten to add!)
We didn't venture far, and found the village to be very peaceful, with friendly inhabitants.

The cottage was very comfortable and had everything you needed. A good location with lots of things to see and do. Thank you for the lovely cake you left and perhaps some milk would be useful to just be able to make a drink after the journey. Lots of good recommendations for eating and we tried several of them.

"Lovely clean and modern style property."
Easy to spend a week relaxing and nice views of the coast from first floor. Like the open plan dining and living space which is ideal for cooking and watching TV whilst chatting with the family. Useful office space area and internet which I found helpful to keep up with running my various tennis league websites updating scorecards etc!
Area around the property is nice although took some getting used to the narrow streets and parking challenges but guess you have to expect that in small cosy coastal villages. Met Wendy the owner who lives next door. Happy to offer any help and advice. Would recommend.

"This was our second stay at Moon Lizard which we really enjoyed again."
It's a lovely house to return to and had been looking forward to it a lot. We have 2 teenagers who really enjoyed it too. It's a very peaceful, comfortable and relaxing house with everything you need plus a wonderful view. Wendy and Jamie are great hosts who live next door and are easily contactable should you need them. We hope to return again.

"Stayed in March so mixed weather, some days sunny (bifolds and bedroom’s sliding window open which was lovely) some days very wet (consistently warm with underfloor heating)."
The little things: bed was extremely comfortable, bedding was lovely, towels were very good quality, lovely showers (and bath!) and Netflix.
Wi-Fi was very intermittent, particularly upstairs.

When we arrived Wendy had left a few treats for us which was so lovely. She even popped round to check everything was ok when we arrived.
The weather we had during our stay was fantastic so made our holiday even more special.

"We had a wonderful week in Newton Ferrers in this lovely accommodation."
There was ample space for our family of six and all three generations with lovely big windows looking out on a very special view of the harbour. The house was very comfortable and well equipped to feel like a home from home.
All three generations were well catered for with things to do in the local area including beaches, walks, a lovely farm shop, fantastic pubs, lovely bike ride in Plymbridge forest and we would recommend a visit to Tinside Lido too! The property isn't far from Plymouth itself where there is a lovely seafront, National Aquarium and lots more that we didn't get round to doing!
All in all highly recommended and thank you to the very kind owners for being very quick to respond to any queries.

"We loved Moon Lizard from the very first moment we arrived."
It was lovely with beautiful views from the bedroom windows and terrace. The bed linen was fabulous and the kitchen had everything we could possibly have needed. We were particularly taken by the sustainability of the place from the heat source to the hair and shampoo bars in the bathrooms. We learnt a lot and have taken ideas home with us. The welcome cake and bubbles were very welcoming, we will definitely return.

"A great property in an ideal location."
The house was exactly what we were expecting. The host was on hand if we needed her, and the communication was very good, with plenty of house and local information sent to us prior to our visit.
The river looked stunning in the valley, especially early morning on a rising tide. The village is so peaceful and a perfect place to wind down.

"This property is exactly as described online."
It was amazingly warm, well equipped and had fantastic views from all windows. The owners were on hand to deal with any queries/problems and had supplied some lovely welcoming gifts, a delicious homemade cake was just one of the things left for us.
Our only tiny quibble would be the amount of relaxed seating, for six adults the two settees were a bit on the snug side. Otherwise we had a great stay.

"The house was lovely, well equipped and so peaceful."
Moon Lizard had everything you could want for a relaxing holiday although, personally, we didn’t find the sofas very comfortable, they felt like you were being pushed off all the time. Thats not meant as a criticism at all, we hope its a useful comment. The house is in a lovely setting looking over the River Yealm and there are a lot of walks to explore in the vicinity. Some of the walks include some steep hills so you need to be reasonably fit to do them. The walk across the causeway to Noss Mayo and back relies on knowing the low tide times but is well worth the trip. We chose not to venture far because we just wanted to relax but there is a lot of places you can visit from Moon Lizard. Our hosts, Wendy and Jamie, were very kind and helpful, even taking in an order for us on arrival day and supplying clean bedding and towels midway through our two week stay. We would love to visit again sometime in the future.

"This property met all our expectations."
All 3 bedrooms have views of the River Yealm and the lounge and kitchen area are modern and spacious. Jamie & Wendy were excellent hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them. The bottle of bubbly, home made scones and jam plus cream were a very welcome surprise. Both Jamie and Wendy provided good information on places to visit which would be suitable for our 3 year old grandson. Newton Ferrers is a beautiful village with a post office,small convenience store, pharmacy, butcher and pub. The locals are extremely friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. All in all we had a fantastic holiday.

NEWTON FERRERS
Plymouth 8 miles.
A tranquil, picturesque village in the South Hams area of Devon, on a bend of the River Yealm leading up from the South Devon coast (1 mile). The perfect haven for sailors, for those who love messing about near water and for those who appreciate stunning and civilised countryside. There is a local butcher, chemist, post office and grocer in Newton Ferrers and an organic farm shop just two miles away. The village pub, with fantastic views across the water towards Noss Mayo and the creek, serves good food and drink. The area is blessed with many walks that meander along the waterside and across the fields, while to the north Dartmoor's high tors and open spaces beckon those who love wild country. The city of Plymouth with its shops, Marine Aquarium and Barbican quayside area is just 8 miles away while beautiful Totnes with its 'alternative' view on life is a must. If the beach rather than boats is what you seek, you won't do better than the beautiful sands at Mothecombe and Bigbury just a few miles down the road. Both are accessible by road or boat from Newton Ferrers. There are a number of excellent golf courses nearby.
