  • "Lovely cottage , had everything you needed and more ."

The only thing is you need new pillows as they were very flat and uncomfortable.

Hi, so pleased that you enjoyed the cottage and your holiday. Just this week, we have got new pillows, duvet and topper for the bed to provide a very comfortable night’s sleep for our guests. Property Owner

The only recommendations we would make is to put the kitchen appliance instruction manuals in the kitchen, its where most places keep them. We found the bed mattresses to be ok but could be better.

  • "Lovely cosy thatched cottage, great location."

Superbly equipped and every eventuality has been anticipated and catered for. Even has a little garden to enjoy the weather and tranquility. Constructive criticism: the only things we can say are the main bedroom light switch is a bit loose. There are a few cobwebs on light fittings and behind things (e.g. stereo in lounge) and the double bed matress was a bit firm for us. The parking isn't ideal, but we understand not much can be done about it. None of these detracted from our enjoyment whatsoever. We would rate this property 97/100. If those very minor issues were resolved (parking aside) then it would be 100%!! If we are ever visiting that area again we wouldn't hesitate to re-book. Wonderful!

  • "Like Mary Poppins, Practically Perfect in Every Way!"

Exactly what we needed. Peaceful location, clean, tastefully furnished, comfortable, warm and cosy. Everything we could possibly have needed had been thought of. Our little boy loved all the books and board games too (a whole couple of boxes of goodies in his room!). Lovely big tv for movies on rainy days and a cosy logburner which heats the whole house! (We needed to turn central heating right down to be able to sleep!) Perfect for a family with 1 child - not sure the single room would suit an adult. Garden was also a bit small, which didn't matter at all in winter, and the most had been made of the space. Helpful owner who responded quickly to a query we had. Location was superb for accessing Dartmoor and lovely North Coast beaches were less than an hour away. We'll be back!

Its situated down a quiet lane right on the edge of town. Good local amenities a short walk away, ie. Fish & chips, Spar, cafe, pub. We're glad we chose to stay in this part of Devon after attempting to visit the coast one day where it was so full of people there wasnt a parking space to be found!! Whereas in the countryside it was nice and peaceful.

We was busy every day, lovely area and of a night we would go to the white hart which was a lovely well ran pub. We thought the cottage itself was lovely and would highly recommend to others. The only downside to our stay was that we thought the garden could of done with abit of TLC.

We ended up leaving the bathroom light on! I suffer from a hearing problem and found with the television volume fully on and with subtitles on, eventually, I still could not here the television clearly. Disappointing just to catch up on the news! Not unique to North Tawton, but the mobile phone reception from the cottage was very limited. Apart from the weather a good break. Thank goodness we were traveling east on the Friday!

! Very well equiped especially the kitchen, I even did a roast! Really was a home from home. The beds were heavenly, like sleeping in a marshmallow, likewise the sofa was comfy and great for everyone to snuggle up together. Loads of books and dvds/cds to use. The mini hi-fi didn't work but we put the cds into the tv and they played. The log fire would be lovely on a cold winters night. Lots of leaflets and info about local places to visit, restaurants etc. Friendly village location. We visited Lydford gorge just 20 mins away, Okehampton, Exeter 1 hr and highly recommend Woolacombe beach, also an hrs drive. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone and would love to stay again!

The cottage was well equipped and very nicely laid out with heaps of character and lots of useful info on the surrounding areas. The only thing I would suggest is getting a new mattress for the double bed as it was uncomfortable. The garden and views were very pretty but the garden did need a little TLC, as it did not look like the photos... just little points to mention. All in all a nice cottage in a good location and walking distance to the village which had good amenities too.

  • "We both had an extremely pleasant stay."

The location was lovely as were the local community, always met with friendly faces. We had an issue with the rubbish collection insomuch as the recycling material was not collected. It may be that clearer instructions are needed as the definition of "recyclable material" could vary from Council to Council. Prior to arrival it may help future guest if they were made aware of what domestic essentials they need to provide ie washing up liquid, toilet paper etc. We make this comment because our previous Skykes Cottage had this. We hope that these comments are taken as constructive as we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and they are meant to assist not complain. The only reason we would not stay again is because we like to explore new places each time so it has no reflection on the beautiful Larksworthy Cottage. Thank you.

The property

This pretty thatched cottage is situated on the edge of North Tawton town, down a quiet narrow country lane in a terrace of similar properties within walking distance of shops and pubs.

An ideal base for exploring Dartmoor and its historic villages, this beautifully-presented cottage is perfect for couples and small families.

The sitting room is warm and cosy and leads to the dining room.

The exposed beams and stone fireplace give a sense to the history of this lovely cottage.

Upstairs, the king-size bedroom feels romantic and spacious and, together with the single bedroom, the cottage can sleep a small family of three.

The small garden at the rear of this cottage has a decked area with seating under the trees, a peaceful sheltered place to have a family barbecue in the evening.

As well as walks from the doorstep along flower-clad lanes, there is the splendour of the Dartmoor Tors or the gentleness of Abbeyford Woods to explore on foot or by bicycle; both are also fantastic for dog walking.

Nearby, Okehampton offers lots of history including a castle and a Victorian shopping arcade, whilst the north and south Devon coastlines are only a short drive.

A fabulous, well presented cottage in the heart of Devon, where a warm welcome awaits.
