  • "This is a lovely holiday property, as we knew it would be, having stayed in a similar house on the same small estate of holiday homes."

It was very clean and comfortable, stylishly furnished, and had everything you could possibly need for your stay. We love this particular part of North Devon, with lovely views of the sea (easy to walk to) and golf course, plus access to places like Barnstaple, Bideford, RHS Rosemore, and several great beaches, such as Woolacombe, Croyde bay and Saunton Sands. We may hope to stay again one day in the future.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay at Devonair. We do all we can to make our guests comfortable, and it's really encouraging to receive such positive feedback. We hope to welcome you again soon. Property Owner

  • "Overall a positive and enjoyable experience."

Ideal for two people or a family. We had issues with door locking mechanisms and sticking cistern inlet valve. Salt and pepper mills would have been appreciated.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. And thank you for taking the time to telephone me so that I could explain that you were trying to open the wrong patio door to the back garden, and guide you to which door handle to press. I sensed your embarrassment when you read aloud the sign by the handles on the doors, saying "please open this patio door first". I was also able to guide you to the silver button on the top of the ceramic toilet cistern which operates the flush. Unfortunately, hygiene restrictions mean that we cannot leave food or condiments for successive guests to to share. It was lovely to chat with you and to hear what an amazing time you were having, and how impressed you were with our beautiful home. We hope to welcome you back very soon. Property Owner

It is in a good location to get to Westward Ho by bus or walk. It was a good base for us to explore North Devon. There was only slight traffic noise in the back but otherwise very quiet. The owners left us a lovely cream tea and milk as a welcome which was very much appreciated. Would definitely recommend.

Thank you for the lovely feedback. Our cleaner will be very appreciative of your kind comments re cleanliness. We are delighted you enjoyed the cream tea on arrival after a long journey. Easy walks to the beach, golf course, shops and restaurants - e.g. the Atlantic fish bar does wonderful fish and chips and the Pig on the Beach serves really tasty hand made pizzas. The house itself is warm and very well-equipped with the best shower we’ve ever had in a rental. Lovely touch was finding a Devon cream tea in the fridge on our arrival and a bag of dog treats plus tennis ball for our four legged friend. We’d highly recommend this house and location - we’ll be back!!

  • "Excellent property, well equipped with good quality furnishings and kitchen equipment, and sparkling clean."

Lovely comfortable mattress. Just one little niggle, we couldn't understand why in October the towel rail in the bathroom wasn't connected to come on. It was a pain trying to dry our towels especially on the last two days when there was no sun and it was raining. A serving bowl would have been nice only a very large glass fruit bowl. We had a really nice week the weather was kind and we got out and about. We got to access point to the beach from the toll road looked over the top and decided it wasn't an option, we are both in our 80's and didn't want to risk a fall on the slippery rocks! We did do the Baggy Point walk from the National Trust car park. Our cockapoo thoroughly enjoyed the beaches.

Thank you for your lovely feedback about the cleaning standards and the Hypnos Mattresses. We invested in the best mattresses available when we furnished Devonair so that our guests can enjoy a wonderful night's sleep. The heated towel rails to each en-suite bathroom are operated by pressing the button immediately below each towel rail. We have now added this explanation into the guest information file. We hope to welcome you back to Devonair soon... Property Owner

I had twin boys 13 so they loved all the arcades and activities available. The accommodation was clean, cosy and everything was provided to what you need. The owners had left us scones and cream with a doggy bag for our pooch which was lovely. The beds were very comfortable and we loved the upstairs living with a lovely view from your balcony which we loved sitting on when the weather was dry. We had a issue with the DVD player I messaged the owner and he responded and tried to help which was great. Thanks for a lovely stay we would definitely recommend to friends and family.

We are so pleased you had a wonderful stay at Devonair. We leave a selection of DVDs for guests to view on any rainy Devon days. • "Lovely house to stay in overall was well equipped and had everything we needed."

The layout was upside down which I get due to the views you have from the balcony. However in the bedroom downstairs you could hear everything upstairs. The only access to the back garden for the dog was through the bedroom so once someone was in bed it was a nightmare letting dog out for the toilet.

Thank you for your kind comments about the sea views. Rear garden access is provided through the patio doors and the conveniently located side gate. There is a large communal grass area to the front of the property which guests tend to take their pooch out onto, when they need the toilet. You'll understand that not all Devonair guests are pet owners, so it's preferable to use the public space for this purpose, rather than use our beautiful little garden as a dog latrine. We are not dog owners, and bought Devonair as our family holiday home, and when we started welcoming guests, it never occurred to us that they would allow their pets to use our garden as a toilet. Now that you've brought it to our attention, we have decided to go completely ‘pet free' from 2024. Apologies to other respectful regular visitors who have a pooch, but we just can't bear the thought of our beautiful garden being abused in this way. Regarding your comments re noise, the house was a newbuild property in 2020 with AAA rated insulation and sound proofing. When we go into someone else’s home we always take our shoes off - we have to assume that you were walking around our beautiful home with your shoes on, which is very disappointing. Property Owner

  • "Excellent property in terms of facilities, cleanliness and comfort."

Only a few minor points to make 1) Provide a pedestal fan as the upper floor does get quite hot on a hot day even with the windows open 2) the garden backs onto a bus stop over the hedge - did get a bit noisy on the Saturday night.

Thank you for the excellent feedback about cleanliness. Our housekeeper is an absolute godsend, and works so hard to give our guests an amazing experience. We are pleased you enjoyed some warm weather during your stay. When we stay in Devonair, we love to open the balcony doors and the kitchen windows and enjoy the sea breeze. To be honest, we don't think an electric fan could improve on the Devon fresh air. With regard to the rowdy people waiting for the bus, you were incredibly unlucky. Very few people ever use the bus stop, and there are two buses an hour, so hopefully they weren't there too long, and your Saturday evening returned to peace and tranquillity as soon as they had departed. We hope this brief encounter didn't spoil your holiday - you were so lucky to have a whole week of unbroken Devon sunshine. We look forward to welcoming you back to our beautiful home, soon. • "Devonair is a beautiful townhouse situated in a lovely cul-de-sac with space for a car right outside which is a bonus."

The location is really nice as far enough away from Westward Ho to avoid crowds but close enough to walk in to the seafront in around 20 mins all on the flat. We were pleasantly surprised by the cream tea, tea and coffee supplied. Its upside down living with a spacious open lounge and kitchen upstairs. The balcony is really lovely to sit out on and we enjoyed lots of time sitting out there. However there isn't much of a view and you are directly opposite other townhouses. The downside being that if a loud party are enjoying time on their balcony at the same time it maybe difficult to relax. The place was really clean, comfortable and modern in its furnishings. Included is a few games and books to keep you entertained if weather isn't the best. There is a lovely private garden to the rear which we were also able to enjoy until one day when a large group arrived and blasted music whilst enjoying the hot tub next door! Its good though if you have a dog and includes a few little bits in a box for them. The kitchen was well equipped with good quality crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc for cooking your own meals but personally just could have done with some basic supplies. Empty Salt and pepper mills were in the cupboard and there was no oil for cooking. Also the guest book was completed by previous guests stating they had broken the can opener which wasn't replaced so we had to buy one. The only heating was underfloor and this was fairly easy to control however when we wanted to change the temperature it did take quite a while to cool down or heat up. The towel rail in the bathroom never heated up so when we came out of the shower it was cold and we couldn't dry the towels so could have done with the heated towel rail or a little fan heater for instant heat when needed. Also for the price would have been nice if shower gels etc were supplied. We only used the double bedroom which had good storage. The bed was comfy with nice quality linen and it was great having a TV in there too. It has a nice size twin room too although we did notice a damp smell in that en suite. We did try to attempt the short cut to the beach through the estate via the golf course and burrows but it was very boggy so we gave up. I imagine it would be nice to walk across when its dry in the summer. Westward Ho is a lovely small seaside town with the most amazing large beach and a handful of restaurants and pubs. We also find it an excellent base for visiting lots of beaches within 30 to 40 minutes drive in Devon and Cornwall. Both Barnstaple and Bideford are close by for shopping and other dining out options. This place is such a great home to stay in and feels more upmarket than some of the other places so we would happily return and despite minor issues which really are just personal preferences we would recommended it to others. Book and you won't be disappointed with your stay. Just one final point take a look in the information booklet which day the window cleaner is due as they took us by surprise early one morning!

Thank you for the feedback and for giving us a 100% feedback score. We are always grateful when guests raise concerns so we can put things right. For this reason our housekeeper always rings every guest on arrival to make sure everything is ok, and would gladly have attended to these points, including replacing the can opener. 1st April to 30th September is our summer season, and the heated towel rails are switched off during this period to reduce our carbon footprint. We do provide a fully integrated washing machine, a washing line and two clothes horses for you convenience. Thank you for all of the positive comments, and we are pleased you had a wonderful stay in our beautiful home. Property Owner

We did find the bedroom backing onto a Bus Stop and busy road quite noisy though and wasn’t expecting that !

Thank you for giving Devonair a score of 100% in your feedback. It is really appreciated. With regard to your comments - behind the property there is green open space and a natural hawthorn hedge in which you’ll find birds nesting. Most guests leave lovely comments to say how nice and peaceful the location is, given the property is detached from the hustle and bustle of Westward Ho!, and they also comment on the pleasant walk into town, along Golf Links Road. As the name of the road suggests, Golf Links Road leads down to the historic golf course. (The Royal North Devon Golf Club has the oldest Links golf course in England). The buses are infrequent, and the bus only stops in this area if some is waiting. We hope you enjoyed the beautiful views out to sea, and to Lundy Island, and we hope to welcome you back to Devonair again soon. Property Owner
