"I stayed at this property in hot weather when we were out every day."
This years stay was end of September, cooler rainy autumn weather abd more of a convalescence. The front door looks new but has a large gap between door and frame so it rattled all night every night during a windy, rainy week. The sofas need better cushions or foot stool should be provided for shorter people or children, it is designed for someone with long legs, not shorter people. The leather sofas look nice but lack comfort and the cushions and throws are a bit tatty. Very stingy welcome pack, only tube of washing liquid, pad and cloth provided and some milk sachets, 2 coffee sachets and 2 tea bags and a few jelly sweets. I stay in Uk properties about 4-6 times a year and this is definitely the meanest. 1st Bedroom had cobwebs covered in dust in corners and along ceilings. POOR HEALTH AND SAFETY IN BATHROOM- No handrail or in shower/bath mat provided for very slippy bath. Incorrect Wi-fi details provided, these were corrected on request. Beds have to be completely stripped and bagged up but no bags were provided. Rubbish is expected to be bagged and put in bins outside which means carrying bags outside, down stairs, through garden and communal entrance to bins at the end of car park, which is an issue in wet weather with slippery steps. Kitchen saucepans and baking/ roasting tins are old and rusty and need replacing and no foil provided. No kitchen paper towel provided. The property would benefit from better curtains in cooler weather, as the thin cotton curtains offer no blackout and let in drafts.

"Generally a pleasant start but a disappointment with a throw back to dealing with a 'holiday company'."
One gets so used to dealing with superhosts with ABNB whose focus is on the customer that dealing with Coast and Country was a let down. Arranging key collection for a late arrival was poor. You wouldn't talk to my wife whilst I was at work; security reasons apparently - really! Why did this property not have a key safe like most holiday homes have these days. no, after a long late journey we had to find your office in town and get the key from.....a key safe. We had to return the key to the office as well. Again, to satisfy your convenience not the customers. Cleanliness - though generally clean, the shower head was mouldy and both the wash basin and bath didn't drain effectively. You ended up standing in ankle deep water after showering. The push down plugs need to be regularly removed and cleaned to prevent blocking. Again an example of superficial cleaning without thought. Oven trays and saucepans were dirty and rusty with the chopping board also unclean. Comments about this were in the visitor book too so obviously these comments are not viewed or acted upon. Overall, we'd summarise as style over substance. A good example was the in built sound system. Not required and buzzed and banged all week, like some background annoyance. This all said, the week was enjoyable and the flat a base from which we could explore the beautiful area. Disappointing also that there wasn't clear provision for recycling. I really cannot believe that you have someone that 'sorts the rubbish' as indicated??

"Property exactly as described - clean and well equipped."

"Enjoyed our stay at Crowthers very much."
However, it was difficult to open the front door (I think previous guests have mentioned this difficulty). We found reading the Visitors Book gave us useful tips on getting out and about. Would definitely recommend Crowthers.

"There were far too many lights out for them all to have failed the day we arrived, the oven was not very clean and the outside windows were pretty dirty."
Other residents seem to park very close to Crowthers space, this is because the car nearest the road does not park neatly.

"The accommodation was perfect."
It was super clean, on arrival. A couple of sharp cooks knives would have been useful. Being a first floor apartment prodived us with a good view across the valley. The elevated location of the property gave us the opportunity of a lovely walk into town, using a different route each time. We had a really lovely stay. This was our second holiday at Crowther's and we hope it won't be the last.
Many thanks for your wonderful comments. They are very much appreciated. We hope to welcome you back in the near future. Just off to sharpen some knives! Kind regards. Property Owner

"Windows could be cleaner so that you can see the views."

"A super clean, modern, compact apartment."
A great location for walking down the hill into Dartmouth & catching the bus back up. Well equipped with everything we needed to cook during our stay. Great for 2 would be snug with 4 adults.

"My wife and I stayed for a week at Crowthers."
The apartment was clean, bright and airy. Our eldest son and partner came to stay for the last two nights. As per some previous comments, although there are two double rooms, they are quite small so it was a squeeze but fine. There were two allocated parking spaces on the property which for Dartmouth was very useful. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

"A lovely apartment with everything you could need."
A little on the snug side for 4 people possibly. Only provided with 1 set of keys which made things tricky if the people in our party went to different places. A key safe may have been useful. Otherwise a very enjoyable stay in a lovely location.

"A really comfortable and well equipped flat, with off-road parking away from the hustle and bustle of the town."
We actually enjoyed the walks back up the hill, but the bus was always available if required! We've used Sykes quite a few times over the years, and this was the first time we had an issue. There was a problem with a key that meant we were locked out on iur first night. Sykes' out of hours service was excellent, and meant that the issue was resolved quickly (b&b that night, and locksmith early the next day). A really pleasant week in a lovely town, in a lovely flat with a rental company that were on hand to sort an unfortunate issue out.

"A fabulous property with the rare benefit in Dartmouth of ample parking."
Very comfortable for the 2 of us (may have a felt a bit tight for 4 adults for a week though). The steps up to the property looked a little tatty and the outside light didn't work which made it a bit tricky when we got back at night. We also couldn't get the French doors to open and ddnt want to force them. Not a major issue at this time of year. We had a problem with with boiler when we first arrived, no hot water or heating. We called the out of hours number and was called back within 10mins and the issue was resolved very quickly. Can't fault the service and we would definitely stay at Crowthers again if staying in Dartmouth.

"We enjoyed our stay at Crowthers."
Although listed as accommodation for four, it would have been a tight fit ( especially regarding storage for clothes and suitcases). Both wardrobes had cleaning equipment in them which would have required moving somewhere if they were to be used for clothes. However as a holiday stay for two people it was fine as we utilised the second bedroom for this.

"We have left a note in the guest book."
Overall we had a lovely stay in Dartmouth and appreciate the bottle of Sharp ham's white wine left in the fridge. Having arrived at 2 o'clock we did have to wait until 5 before collecting the keys, which we found a hindrance. Also our communications stated that we were to out by 11, but the documentation in the apartment stated 10 o'clock? The only critisim of the apartment would be the mouldy blind in the bathroom and the light curtains in the Queen sized bedroom. Oh and the pull out area in the kitchen would not close properly. We would definitely recommend a stay at Crowthers if visiting Dartmouth.

"We had a great week at Crowthers - it was all very comfortable and well equipped."
So much so we’ve booked for 2022! We’re fairly familiar with Dartmouth so had no trouble getting down to the town, it was wonderful though to realise the bus back to the top of town stopped almost outside Crowthers! The space would be ‘cosy’ for four people but it was fine for two of us.

About the location
DARTMOUTH
Totnes 12 miles.
Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
