  • "Met, the owner."

Lovely lady. Flat was brilliant. Close to a bus route if you can't handle the hills. Will stay again. Thank you

Cream and jam plus the milk a very nice thought. Loved the walk down to the centre and the number 9o bus back up never had to use the car plenty off parking a added bonus.would definitely stop at uptop again if coming back to dartmouth.

  • "The only thing to make the property better would be a larger bed with a non nylon quilt."

Apart from that the apartment was clean and well stocked with facilities and kitchen equipment. It is "Uptop" so be prepared for that post dinner walk back. If I was going to Dartmouth again I would look to book this property.

  • "Absolutely perfect."

Super clean, lots of extras which give it a home from home feel. Love the cream tea and milk, lovely touch. Perfect location and garden and parking make it perfect especially as space is limited in Dartmouth. Super friendly hosts which were there if needed. Would recommend 100%. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "Hurst View is a beautiful, well equipped home in a lovely part of the island."

We found it to be the perfect base to explore other areas and there are also some great walks a few minutes from your doorstep. This is a dog friendly home with a very secure garden and my dog absolutely loved it here. The views from the top bedroom are stunning.

  • "The only thing we found wrong was the hooks on the bathroom door were for people of six feet and as we are five foot two inches we found it difficult to hang clothes on them, and the squeeky hinged on door."

  • "The flat was comfortable and very handy for the bus routes."

We hope to return some time. The double bed was smaller and the mattress not as comfortable as the one we are used to so we might use the single bed in the 2nd bedroom as well, if we return. It didn’t affect us but I was surprised that you couldn’t see out of the small bedroom. The top oven seems to take a long time to heat up. I tried the bottom oven but couldn’t get it to work. Instructions might be handy. It might be handy to have instructions also for the vacuum cleaner as it was very different to mine, and didn’t seem to pick up dirt very well.

  • "Everything you could possibly need for a wonderful comfortable stay away from home."

I have some mobility problems and did find the stairs a little difficult, a second handrail would have been very useful, but it wouldn't stop me from staying again. Bus stops a stones throw away, it's great so you can park the car and forget about it until you are ready to leave. Definitely would recommend staying at Uptop. Homemade cream tea a lovely surprise.

  • "This property is great especially if you have a dog."

We really enjoyed sitting in the garden with him. The property has everything you could possibly need especially in the kitchen. Cream tea was a lovely welcome. We would definitely book again and recommend to family and friends. Although it is literally “Uptop” the little bus service is brilliant.

As parking is so difficult in Dartmouth, the bus service running every 30 mins from virtually outside the front door to the centre of Dartmouth is a fantastic plus.

The property

Resting in the popular town of Darmouth is this stylish first-floor apartment, Uptop.

Sleeping three guests and situated close to all of Dartmouth's amenities, Uptop is a great base for your next family adventure to Devon's magnificent south coast.

As you enter the building on the ground floor, climb a set of stairs directly to your apartment, which welcomes you in with a fabulous green furnished living/dining room, where you can take a stool by the large bay window to admire the views, warm your toes by the electric fire as you flick on the television after a long day or gather round the dining table to enjoy an evening meal.

Moving through the property there is a well-equipped kitchen which has a handy washing machine and dishwasher, as well as a small table and chairs for you to enjoy a quick breakfast before a long day of exploring.

There is also a double bedroom and a single bedroom, which stick with the leafy green theme of the apartment and are both a cheerful place to relax and rejuvenate.

To finish the property, there is a contemporary shower room where guests can get ready for the day ahead in style.

Outside there if off-road parking for two cars and a private garden to the side of the property with a raised lawn and furniture, so guests can take their morning coffee outside and watch the world go by.

Uptop is just a stone’s throw away from the town centre of Dartmouth, where you can take a picnic to the picturesque Royal Avenue Gardens, explore the Dartmouth Museum, discover the 15th century Bayard's Cove Fort, take a boat ride on the River Dart or explore the ample shops, bars and eateries, many of which look out on to the colourful harbour.

Slightly further afield, you can marvel at Dartmouth Castle, or enjoy a relaxing day on the shingle beach at Sugary Cove, which also allows dogs all year round.

From Dartmouth, you can take a ferry to Kingswear, either with your car or on foot, where you will find a thriving marina, a train station, plenty of shops and eateries, and the 15th century Kingswear Castle with a rooftop platform offering splendid sea views.

The market town of Totnes sits a little further along the River Dart and boasts a large castle with outer walls that remain intact and offer great views over the town, which has ample museums and galleries to explore, while nearby is an interesting Rare Breeds Farm.

Uptop is a delightful setting for your next trip to Devon.

About the location

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.
