  • "Lovely clean bright chalet."

Excellent use of space. Lovely comfy beds, great shower. Well equipped. Only thing we missed was a small freezer compartment part to fridge, just for ice cubes for our drinks ! No reception on TV, but contacted the owner beforehand and asked if it was OK to bring a DVD player, which was fine, but as it turned out we didnt use it as we could log on to out Amazon Prime! The site was peaceful and friendly. There was construction and updating going on which meant the facilities were not up and running, but as we had dogs with us, we hadnt really expected to use them. Spar, Co-op, local pub, Chinese takeaway, Pizza all easy walk. Did feel it was shame that there was a lovely old manor house, neglected, with ugly new builds surrounding it, but thats a personal view. Great location to visit lots of places, nice walks in area, sandy beaches properly dog friendly before 10am and after 6pm at this time of year, some all year round, just watch tide times to find the sand lol! Very grateful to find a nice place like this within budget, in this current climate of crazy prices!! Parking charges are also crazy so check for free car parks for Bude and Widemouth Bay. (nice food van at the latter -and nice cafe at the pay and display. Also be mindful of the possible algae at Tamar Lakes (we saw the sign after our walk) A big shout out to the excellent Killock Farm Coarse Fishery 2 mins up the road £6 dawn to dusk, 5 lakes - partner very happy! Thank you for letting us stay :) x

thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately the Manor House is a privately owned enterprise for which we have no control, however it is opening again this month with entertainment, pub, food etc. Really pleased you enjoyed your stay, we strive to offer great value for money in what are difficult times for many and appreciate you noting this. We would love to welcome you back Property Owner

Bedding old and smelly. Beds uncomfortable. Mould in shower area. Tv useless has constant interference Bar on site dark dingy and very expensive. Stuck of chip fat from kitchens.

We find your comments quite alarming and confusing. The bedding and mattresses are all new along with the sofa and table and chairs. We invest heavily into our properties, striving to provided an excellent value for money product in a beautiful part of the world. As our maintenance teams contact details are clearly available its a shame your concerns weren't raised immeadiately instead of waiting until you had vacated the property. • "The site itself was partially worn out while the other part was a building site, facilities were very poor, the pool was dark and lifeless."

No 25 had a damp smell in the bedrooms and the front door handle kept coming off in your hand. This has to be one of the worst sites we have stayed on and we have been to many around the country.

Thank you for your observations, we have checked the property for damp and non has been noted, however we accept the damp smell and have applied suitable air fresheners to mitigate. We are sorry that the door handle broke and have fixed, in regards to the site I have emailed the site owners forwarding your comments and have asked that the site maintenance is improved going forward. We are very sorry to hear that your holiday was not as you would have hoped and other than your comments the property was found to be at a good standard as we strive to achieve. Property Owner

  • "The lodge was perfect for what we needed."

It was clean and comfortable and in a great location. An ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas. Shop and pub both within easy walking distance and the on site bar with evening entertainment was great. My husband and son used the on-site pool and said it was a little tired/dated but totally fine for what we needed. We had a great holiday and wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

Really pleased you enjoyed your holiday and would love to have you back again in the future. We will pass on your comments to the on site bar and leisure centre who are owned independently to ourselves. Thank you for your feedback Property Owner

  • "First and foremost the weather was not in our favour."

As a base to explore from the property was fine however due to weather and having a 3 year old, yes there was a tv but reception was terrible when we needed it to be better to entertain him. On site facilities ie. swimming pool could do with a makeover to cater for the little ones. Finaly there was no mention about the building site adjacent to us. Sadly by Wednesday we had had enough and we came home.

About the location

KILKHAMPTON

Bude 4 miles.

Kilkhampton is an historic Cornish village, 4 miles from the popular Victorian seaside resort of Bude, one of Cornwall’s premier holiday locations. With its old church, village shops and atmospheric village pubs, Kilkhampton is a lovely place to relax after a hard day exploring the stunning beaches and spectacular coastal scenery for which the area is famous. Bude’s beaches attract surfers from all over the country and when conditions are right you’d be hard pushed to find better surf. When the tide is out, miles of golden sand and hundreds of rock pools keep visitors occupied for hours. The South West Coast Path, and many other rights-of-way winding over the clifftops and through lush green fields looking out over the sea, make this area a haven for walkers and lovers of the open countryside. For those who prefer staying closer to home, a good shopping centre and a selection of pubs, two clubs and restaurants are on offer. Bude canal, a registered nature reserve, passes through the town, and rowing a boat along its calm waters or walking the towpath among the beautiful (and friendly) water fowl that live among the reeds is a great way to spend an hour or two. Within the area there are also 2 golf courses, an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley at the leisure centre. A perfect location for all that North Cornwall has to offer.

Please note outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts are currently being refurbished and are out of use but indoor swimming pool is available.
Please note: For any loss of keys there will be a standing charge of £25.00.
Note: Passes to Penstowe Leisure are available at an additional cost for unlimited access to the swimming pools and facilities.
