"Lovely spacious cottage in a quiet location, but not too far from town (by car!"
) Very comfortable for our family group of 8 with plenty of space for us all. Four good sized bedrooms and each with their own en-suite bathroom. Super clean and light and airy upstairs living accommodation. Tennis courts and hot tub an added bonus.

"Amazing place."
Facilities were ideal for the three couples that made up our party, with 3 double bedrooms similarly equipped, each with generously large ensuite. Everything was modern and clean. (There was a 4th bedroom, which we didn't need, and the living area was geared up for 8.) The 'Upside-down' layout worked well with great views from the living area. The large hot tub (permanently on) was also great. The location means you need transport to get anywhere, but also it is very peaceful. Two miles away the 'Blacksmith Arms' in Lamerton does outstanding food. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at the cottage. If I had to suggest improvements, the ONLY thing I can suggest was to put covers on the toilet seats in the en suites.

"It was clear this property has been decorated and equipped with a lot of thought and care."
It is beautiful and homely and well equipped. We had an issue as one of the beds had broken but the owner responded immediately when called. There were a couple of other minor issues (the can opener definitely needs replacing) and given the UK weather, it would be helpful to have somewhere under cover (including over the spa bath) outside. The hob is temperamental at times and turns itself off but these were minor issues. The stairs to the bedrooms are not great if you have any mobility issues, which is a shame because with a through floor lift or even just a bannister it would be way more accessible. Overall however the group was unanimous that next time we return to the area we are hoping to return there.
-
"What a lovely property."
The bedrooms were spacious with the added bonus of all being ensuite which was perfect for our double family getaway. There was ample space in the garden for our dogs with some nice walks in the surrounding fields. The property had all the amenities you'd expect to find from a super host. I can't even say it was a negative but there wasn't teally enough work top space in the kitchen when your catering for up to 8 people, but we made it work. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend and revisit on another occasion.
-
"Very nice accommodation, very well presented."
Great for families, the boys loved the Tennis court. The hot tub was lovely, a very peaceful place to relax and unwind.
-
"Thank you for a wonderful stay."
The property is beautiful with each room have a superking bed and ensuite. The kitchen has everything you would need and the lounge is very comfortable. Outside there is an excellent hot tub and patio area! Would fully recommend.
-
"Wonderful property, fantastic for a family holiday with 6 of us."
Plenty of bedrooms and space for everyone. Would highly recommend!
-
"Ideal property for a family gathering."
Plenty of space inside and outside in a lovely, quiet location. Large comfortable beds with the flexibility of twins or super king size. Excellent dining room. We would definitely consider a return visit.
-
"We had a lovely time at the Granary ,,Celebrating my 80thBirthday !"
-
"Perfect for our family gathering with our adult children and partners."
Well equipped kitchen, comfortable large beds with plenty of bathrooms. Hot tub working well. Delightful setting close to Tavistock and the moor for walking. Only usual minor issues with holiday rentals - eg frying pan no longer non stick ,chopping knives not great - easy enough to bring your own.
-
"Gorgeous property that has been furnished to a high standard."
Really spacious, high ceilings and lovely views with a cosy log fire and two smart TVs. Bedrooms and each en-suite bathroom lovely quality. It was the perfect place in the countryside for our family Christmas. Only slight downside (and this would not stop us returning) was no toilet on living level of the upside down property so my Mum struggled with going down the stairs during the day. Also chopping knives and frying pan could do with an upgrade - we would take our own in future but bear in mind induction hob. No hairdryers so take your own. But we loved it, would recommend and will definitely return. Easily the nicest place we have stayed in. Tavistock only a few miles away is a lovely market town where you can get everything you need.
-
"An excellent property."
Exceptionally comfortable 6" beds in every room. A separate dining room was very useful. Very helpful owners who dealt with a lack of internet for several days. Changes that would make this a 5-star place are: Desperate need for a drying machine, several toilets do not have a lid; not healthy. Extractor in on bathroom not working. Track leading to property has a few pot holes that would benefit from being gravel-filled.
-
"Fabulous property in a lovely quiet location, but access to lots of places we wanted to visit within an hours drive (Polperro, Eden Project, Padstow, Brixham, Dartmoor)."
Well equipped kitchen (possibly the best we have ever had - we like to cook on holiday from scratch). Very clean generally. Best bedrooms we have ever had on holiday - super king size beds, excellent mattresses, nice sized en suites. Nice garden with good sized table and of course the hot tub. Brilliant to have access to other parts of the property for the dogs to have a run (they loved the stream).
-
"Lovely property in a rural setting."
Very quiet. Comfortable for 8 people. The kitchen was a bit small and more casserole dishes and larger vegetable serving dishes are needed as we cooked mainly.
-
"You would think that it could be difficult to impress eight friends, all well traveled and a touch fussy…."
The Granary smashed it! The property is exactly as described and more, immaculate, luxurious and beautifully situated in the Devonshire countryside. Every bedroom is stunning, with quality linen and first class en-suites. As tennis players, we made full use of the tennis court, followed by relaxing in the hot tub. We cooked each evening and thoroughly enjoyed socialising together in the dining room, before settling into the lounge area with our coffees. The large TV meant we could all cheer on the English Roses in their quarter final
-
"The Granary is a beautiful and spacious cottage with an ample garden area and large hot tub."
The beds were extremely comfortable with an ensuite for every room. The cottage was spotlessly clean and provided plenty of lounge and dining seating for at least 10 people. We had a minor issue with the hot water, but the plumber was there within half an hour to resolve the problem- amazing service! We really enjoyed our stay at The Granary and would definitely recommend its five star luxury.
-
"Outstanding property."
Rare to find four bedrooms of equal size and quality, all en-suite and with the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! Spacious living/kitchen area and huge dining room, ideal for family meals. Nice outdoor area, great hot-tub and the added bonus of a tennis court. Properties are often less impressive than online photos suggest, this one exceeded everyone's expectations. The only improvement would be a toilet on the same level as the living area, but the lack of one does not detract from the 5 star rating, as this was made clear when we booked.
-
"We have just had a wonderful Easter holiday at the Granary."
The barn is beautifully designed and equipped, as well as being in a very peaceful situation. Warm and cosy with very comfortable beds. Special highlights for us were the hot tub and the log fire. The owners were kind and helpful and provided everything we needed. Just watch out for the potholes!
-
"Such a beautiful property and location."
The beds were really comfortable and it was lovely to have so much space with two families staying together. The kids loved the tennis courts and the hot tub was a real treat as well. There really was everything we needed and more.
-
"We were a party of 8 adults and cooked dinner each evening."
We found we were missing a few basic cooking requirements, I.e. tablespoon, wooden spoon, large serving dishes, an extra frying pan etc.
Thank you for your feedback. We do our best to provide plenty of equipment for our guests in The Granary, and take advice from Helpful Holidays in this regard. However, we will certainly check this to ensure that the kitchen is fully equipped. Property Owner

"Clean, bright, in excellent repair, with pristine linen, this holiday home was perfect for our family get together."
The highchair and cot provided were terrific. We used one of the bedrooms, other than the master, for the cot, as our granddaughter settles better outwith her parents room. The facilities for cooking were just enough for family meals for 5 adults. Sadly we couldn't all make it to the holiday, so not 6 adults, just 5. Dog friendly home and garden. We walked to the Blacksmiths Arms daily, and to chipshop, and Rentor during the week, and had days out at Polperro and the Eden Project. Your home is ideally placed for those trips.
-
"The cottage was absolutely beautiful and exceeded our expectations."
The property itself was immaculate inside and very comfortable with everything provided that you could wish for. The grounds were absolutely amazing and there was so much to explore and the tennis court was a fantastic bonus too. The owners were very helpful and friendly and responsive to any request we had and I would highly recommend staying here as a base to explore the stunning Devon countryside and coast.
-
"Outstanding property."
Very well appointed. Exceeded expectations. Beautiful surroundings and peaceful. Good base for visiting local area.
-
"Superb accommodation throughout and we enjoyed a lovely family get together for a week."
The hot tub and tennis court were additional bonuses. Location great for Dartmoor, access to both north and south coasts and Tavistock, a lovely town a few miles away. Would definitely return.
-
"An excellent ;location to explore West Devon, Dartmoor and Eastern Cornwall."
The property is very well appointed, quiet and in excellent order. The one criticism that I have is that the shower tended to be very slippery - perhaps anti-slip mats could be provided?
-
"The granary is a fabulous place, ideal for four couples or friends sharing."
Beautifully appointed.
-
"We had a family holiday and needed somewhere with space and the granary was well set out,as rooms all had their own bathrooms."
The owners were very helpful when I needed some kitchen equipment, and we enjoyed the use of the tennis court, and hot tub.
-
"Fantastic property."
Well equipped, lovely beds and bedding. Log burner was really lovely and we enjoyed the hot tub and tennis court.
-
"Lovely property in ideal location."
Would have been 5 stars but one of our party was slightly disabled so no toilet on main floor was a slight issue but otherwise couldn’t recommend highly enough. Would happily revisit
-
"Absolutely gorgeous property and location."
Spotlessly clean and everything there - beds were really comfy! Would love to return
-
"A fantastic place to meet with family and friends."
All bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms similar. Fittings all excellent quality. Would not hesitate to recommend and stay again.
-
"Beautiful property, spacious, very comfortable, well equipped, beautiful location."
Would happily return, & highly recommend.
-
"The property is excellent and well thought out."
We loved the stay. Only thing to say is that a few more kitchen items would help eg a whisk but that’s literally it!
-
"Extras like hot tub and tennis courts"
-
"Accomodation perfect."
Had a fantastic stay with the family.
-
"What a fantastic, peaceful location!"
A great base to explore both Devon and Cornwall. High quality accommodation with extra touches that made us feel so welcome. We made good use of both the hot tub and the tennis courts. I wouldn’t hesitate in booking this cottage again.
-
"Lovely accommodation, provided an excellent base for families across the country to come and spend some time together."
The only negative was that the hoover in the home could do with an upgrade. It was spotless when we arrived, but we tried to hoover the dog hair throughout the week which proved difficult as the hoover power was poor. All bedrooms/bathrooms were lovely and the upstairs space definitely the star of the show. Garden was also a welcome addition for the 2 dogs including a inquisitive corgi who managed to dart into the next field a few times and had a lovely adventure. Very close to Tavistock town and less than a ten minute drive to large supermarkets. Was a lovely space and would and would not hesitate to return.
-
"This is a particularly good place for four couples as all bedrooms ensure and identical"
-
"This was a memorable holiday - lovely setting and a spacious converted granary with four king-sized en-suite bedrooms downstairs."
Small but adequate enclosed garden and friendly, helpful (but not intrusive) owners. If you are looking for the seaside it is not ideal, but for a peaceful stay in lovely Devonshire countryside, it is perfect!
-
"We had a really lovely stay at The Granary."
Excellent accommodation, tastefully done with great facilities.....and good value. Several of us said we’d like to return.
-
"It was a perfect holiday everything you wanted in a house and more, Bedrooms were amazing comfortable shower was fab."
Hot tub was lovely to relaxing in. A lovely holiday all round and easy to find near a lovely town. Thank you
-
"Excellent accommodation for four couples as all bedrooms the same."
-
"Such a lovely peaceful setting and the barn was beautiful!"
Lots of space for 8 adults and we had 2 babies as well. Only a 5 min drive to Tavistock which is very nice to walk around or eat out and there’s a good coop there. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub and the tennis courts to work off some of the excess holiday calories! Would definitely return
-
"The Granary was much nicer than we expected."
Felt very comfortable with the new arrangements due to Pandemic. Very clean and beds really comfortable. Electric fans would have been appreciated as weather was extremely hot, as it’s farmland did have a wasp problem that caused problems when eating out, one of the children in our party was stung. About 50 mins to either Cornwall or Devon coast.
-
"I would just like to say, that the photos do not do this holiday home justice."
It’s immaculately presented and spotlessly clean, we will be going back, Quality fixtures and fittings have not been spared, everything you could ever want is at hand, apart from the British weather. We look forward to rebooking in the near future. One very happy family ( 3 daughters, the wife, and one very energetic springer spaniel )
-
"The Granary is top notch in every way ."
The beds are so comfortable & all the equipment is very good quality . It does need a few more utensils to cook with but that is a small detail as everything else is wonderful & the hot tub is the icing on the cake ! Would return most definitely !
-
"This holiday exceeded our expectations, the photos do not do the barn justice."
It is surrounded by the most stunning views and the outdoor space is beautiful. Inside the barn there is a lot of room- we travelled as two families (4 adults and 4 children) and there was more than enough space. Downstairs especially- the bedrooms are a good size and each have the most comfortable beds with and shower and bath in every room. Everything was to a very high spec it seemed. Couldn’t get over how lovely it all was! Attention to detail is high and the kitchen is stocked so well with all sorts of utensils which made cooking a dream. The living room has plenty of seating (very comfy and cosy) and the log burner is just delightful. The whole place was spotlessly clean and all looked very new. Overall, I would definitely recommend- ideal for families or groups of friends. Will definitely be returning
-
"Lovely accommodation, furnished and decorated to a high level."
Bedrooms are big and spacious and it was nice having en-suite facilities. Situated down a long lane so away from traffic and noise. Log burner was great since we went late November, which made it cosy! Couldn’t find a light for hot tub to use in the evening. A toilet on the first floor would be handy. Because it’s an upside down property we heard the boiler because it’s downstairs near the bedrooms and the hot tub pump. Said the heating was set on thermostat, but it didn’t come on, so assumed it was on a timer, which meant we were a bit cold for a while, but had it been a big issue we could have contacted the owner. Could do with more saucepans. Great property overall for a relaxing long weekend with friends.

"Lovley area cottage"
-
"Brilliant cottage!"
Hope to go back!
-
"I cannot express how wonderful in everyway The Granary is."
It is well worth the stay. Above my expectations in every way.
-
"Amazing barn conversion."
Beautifully appointed. Equipment very high standard. Access is a bit tricky, but well worth it. You need to follow the directions very carefully. There can be a mile or more between a couple of words or short phrase. We couldn’t find a cutlery basket for the dishwasher until the last day, when we discovered it was a pull out tray just below the top! Silly us! Thanks for a great Holiday.
-
"Perfect in every way!"
So much care & thought has gone into this beautiful barn. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. The beds are the most comfiest we have slept in. There was 7 of us and we had lots of space, the hot tub and tennis court was an added bonus, both of which we used every day. We cannot wait too book this lovely barn again! We would have booked for Christmas but sadly it is already rented.
-
"It’s a really relaxing place, and has been renovated with great thought and style."
The spacious living area upstairs works well.
-
"The Granary is a lovely place to stay."
The description doesn't do it enough justice. It is peaceful and quiet with amazing views. All you can hear are cows and sheep in nearby fields. It's a fantastic place to be able to sit in the garden and watch the birds. Inside there is great attention to detail. A lot of thought has gone into making sure that you have everything you need, including towels for the hot tub and slippers! Tavistock is nearby with a great selection of shops and the location of The Granary perfect for exploring Dartmoor as well as the Tamar valley.
-
"We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Granary."
The facilities exceeded our expectations, especially the hot tub, and the kitchen was so well equipped. Every room was clean and presentable. On so many levels, the property excelled and we had a very memorable stay. Diolch!
-
"The place was beautiful."
We went on a family holiday with ages ranging from 5 months to 67 and all had a good time enjoying the hot tub, comfy beds and space. Would totally recommend it.
-
"The Granary was a great place to stay, close to Tavistock, but in a bucolic rural location."
The ‘upside down’ accommodation worked very well and the outside south facing garden was ideal.
-
"The holiday cottage was more lovely than expected, stunning surroundings and all that we needed."
It felt like a luxurious home from home with friendly welcoming neighbours next door - the hosts. The Granary was the ideal location to celebrate a family birthday. The Google anticipated journey time was a little optimistic however it was worth the wait. Thank you.
-
"The Granary far exceeded our expectations, the bedrooms were an excellent size and the separate showers a boon."
We were 4 couples and there was plenty of room for us all. The hot tub was a luxury. The journey to Tavistock was 15 or so minutes and there were some great places to eat. Wonderful countryside for walking and some interesting places to visit. A great holiday overall. Mike White
-
"The cottage was wonderful with everything needed for a relaxing holiday."
The owners very helpful and we would definitely go back and recommend to friends and family. We had a great 4 day's with family and dogs.
-
"The cottage is in a beautiful location."
It was very clean, and tidy. It was not fussy and so you felt as if you were almost in a five star hotel when you entered the bedrooms. The towels were fluffy, the mattresses were very comfortable and the duvet was soft. The decoration was stunning. I loved the mosaic tiles in the bathrooms, and the egg shell paint on the doors. It was handy having a tv in the dining room, so when feeding our young kids they were being entertained. They had included lots of toilet rolls, washing powder and dishwasher tablets. The pictures on the walls were also beautiful. On a chilly evening it was blissful to light the fire in the lounge and fall asleep on the sofa. We mainly eat fish and so visited the pannier market in Tavistock and bought some lovely fresh fish, every night I cooked a delicious meal with local produce, and the kitchen had everything I needed. We have stayed in a few cottages and this one of my absolute favourite. Whenever I could I used the hot tub, and it was pure Luxury. We used the tennis courts with the kids, they loved running around and playing football and tennis. Chris and Janet were lovely, very caring and they helped us when we needed it and were not intrusive and let us enjoy our holiday. We wanted to get away and unwind, we absolutely loved our week in the Granary.
-
"We had a wonderful weekend break at The Granary."
The house was finished to a very high standard with everything you could possibly need. There was also a tennis court and hot tub with lots of open spaces. We have 3 boys aged from 9 to 15 and we did not hear the words “I’m bored” once. A very relaxing place. I would recommend this holiday cottage to everyone.
-
"Well appointed holiday cottage, very well equipped and luxurious."
