  • "This is our third time staying here."

When we arrived, the beddings were unmade, bedrooms untidy and the floor looked like they hadn't been vacuumed. This was very disappointing for us as we were expecting it to be clean, tidy and beds made up like our previous 2 visits. That's the only negative feedback and first negative experience we have had with this accommodation. The property itself and the location and views are second to none.

  • "The house was amazing, the welcome 'hamper' was very welcome, and lovely quality."

The view and location was incomparable! Sadly the building is so well built it holds all the heat, so meant sleeping at night was impossible, temperatures in excess of 24 degrees! Sadly you would not supply fans, which was more than disappointing considering we had paid ALLOT of money for a week's stay. That aside, I cannot recommend the property enough, and other than being too 'tight' to buy some fans for us, the service was pretty good.

BBQ was in a terrible condition! We couldn’t use it. Not the end of the world but if you planned to use it you would need to sort beforehand. Great location and overall very happy. Thank you.

  • "Excellent location, faultless."

Our 2nd time here and overall really enjoy it. Lyme Regis itself is a lovely town, clean and well maintained by the Council As noted in the guest book the previous rentals found the patio parasol broken and they left it under the table. We managed to fix it However, For the cost of the holiday I do think there should be:- A TV in at least one of the bedrooms as I mentioned last time A shelf in the bathroom for toiletries not just the window sill The ceiling bulb in the 2nd bedroom has still not been replaced or the light is not working as was the case in October '23 The main bed is very firm, perhaps too firm for some guests The pillows were hard also The sheet is not a fitted one and does not stay in place. Consequently within minutes rucks up and becomes very tangled and uncomfortable There is still no obvious instructions as to how to dispose of food waste. There is no waste disposal in the sink and both dustbins say 'no food waste' on the lids. Finally there is a real lack of privacy from other guests in the house above as they make their way past the cottage to and from the beach. Some sort of screening would be of a real benefit

  • "Lovely property and good location with wonderful views."

A few points to address:- 1) Check-in should be at least an hour earlier - 4pm far too late. 2). No bin or instructions to dispose of food waste. Both external bins say ‘no food waste’ 3). For cost of rental a TV should be provided in bedrooms.

Thanks for your comments. The property is on a commercial rubbish collection scheme where all rubbish is put into one container and the contents is separated at the recycling depot. We hope you enjoyed your stay. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "A lovely stay as normal."

However two things 1. staying for the length of time we do and using both bedrooms we are concerned on the amount of space taken up in cupboards and wardrobes with spare bedding etc. Could this be reduced as we find ourselves living partially out of our cases. 2. When it rains at night the noise from the downpipe just outside the main bedroom is awful and we have to resort to stuffing a hand brush up the lower part of the downpipe to reduce the noise so we can sleep. Your thoughts on these 2 areas would be advantageous to us and I am sure to many of your other guests.

Thank you for your comments. We will take a look at the down pipe and the storage. We hope you enjoyed your stay. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

It is totally let down by it being dirty and poorly maintained.

  • "Pleased that there was blinds provided this year."

The wash hand basin waste has still not been cleaned out and so doesn’t run away properly. Could do with lights down the path leading to and from the property to the gate as unless you have a torch you cannot see after an evening out. Pity that the property isn’t available until after 4.00pm as the first day of the holiday is basically gone.

  • "We would like to have had another cutting board."

We used the one under the toaster when we weren't using the toaster, but it would have been handy to have another one. We didn't want to damage the beautiful kitchen worksurface. Similarly, there was nothing to put hot pans on when we took them out of the oven, so we had to improvise. The place was beautifully clean - we absolutely loved it. Thank you.

  • "Location is superb."

The property has amazing views that you can enjoy from the comfort of the sofa or the main bedroom. We were there in November and it was lovely to snuggle up on the sofa and watch the waves crashing over the Cobb. Parking is just behind the property and, within minutes, we could walk to both the beach and the high street. The property is well equipped and spacious with great outdoor space.

However there were a few of problems. The door going into the main bathroom has fallen on the hinges and is scrapping on the floor and is very difficult to open/close and it has been like it for sometime because you can see the damage on the floor tiles. We tried to shimmy around the door all week so as not to cause further damage The bed mattress in the main bedroom needs replacing. Also not all the saucepans work on that hob.

  • "The property was lovely and offered us a perfect place to enjoy Lyme."

The facilities at the property were also excellent. Unfortunately we did experience a few problems and this is where things were let down - this isn’t the fault of the property owner. We had a number of issues that I tried to raise with the holiday company but all apart from the wasps nest in the roof above the patio door were ignored - and this took a few days despite the website saying 24/7 support. The very slow running drainage from the bathroom sinks has clearly been raised by other visitors but has not been addressed. The skylight catches a lot of flies in spider webs - these then regularly drop on the island which makes eating and food prep there a risky and unpleasant business. Clearly these are not vacuumed in between stays which would have addressed the issue. The general cleaning also had some issues with crumbs and bits in the rugs and we cleaned the place on our first full day to address this. We were also relaxing on Saturday morning and a maintenance person decided to try and let themselves into the property - no knocking. Fortunately we had a key in the door which meant they had to knock. I found this a gross invasion of privacy. It was just to change over a kettle despite us having a working one. To put this into context, a few years ago we stayed at the property behind and our young son had left his favourite DVD in the apartment. The holiday company would not contact the following holidaymakers as they said it would be an unacceptable intrusion into their holiday, but somehow it was deemed OK to just attempt to walk in to an occupied holiday let! Again this complaint was ignored. We had a few other small issues, all of which I raised on multiply occasions and all of which were ignored. It also took a few weeks to get our holiday deposit back which took chasing. We have been staying at properties booked through Lyme Bay Holidays for nearly 20 years and were extremely disappointed by the lack of response to our numerous concerns. It was hardly a cheap holiday and I have no doubt the owner of the property is charged a sizeable management fee that they may wish to question.

We had builders working next door and we had no privacy, also as garden path is shared. Basin in bathroom needs U bend cleaning to allow water to clear freely.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Harbour Heights Cottage, the accommodation was clean, well equipped and of an excellent standard."

The view across the bay and the harbour was wonderful and we appreciated the provision of comfortable patio furniture when the weather was good enough to sit outside. The walk into the town along the seafront was pleasant and being able to access the Cobb and beaches was simple as Harbour Heights Cottage has such a good position.
