"Cosy and well-appointed cottage in fabulous location right on the coast."
We loved relaxing in the cottage as well as visiting nearby coastal towns and NT properties. The owners had thought of everything to make it a comfortable home and Paul, who looks after the property, made sure we were happy and informed before and after arrival.
Thank you for your lovely feedback . Patsy Property Owner

"Warm and cosy cottage with all the mod cons set in a quiet location."
Would happily recommend to anyone and would stay again in the future. Just two minor points, please paint the outside of the cottage and replace the blind in the downstairs front window. Apart from that we had a great stay and thank you. Pat and Mark.

The sofa is a bit hard but the other two chairs are nice. Great to have a washing machine and a little freezer! Would stay again thank you so much

Great location, right on the coast path, beautiful sea view. Everything we could need provided for.

"A lovely week at Virginia Cottage."
Very well equipped, clean and comfortable property with lovely sea view and quiet location. Hope to return in the future.

"A wonderful place and a lovely cottage."
Thanks for a perfect holiday!

"Wonderful retreat."
Cosy and warm and if it’s stormy you can watch the sea from your window. The beach is a stones throw away and an easy access walk. The cottage has absolutely everything you might need on a self catering break by the sea. The beds are so comfortable too.

"Lovely cosy cottage, very clean and stylish but comfortable furnishings."
Log burner was fantastic for blustery stormy weather. Had a great time watching and listening to the sea. Kitchen well equipped, parking no problem.
-
"We had a fabulous five night stay."
The cottage was ready earlier than expected so that was a real bonus as the weather was atrocious on the drive down from Hampshire. It was everything we had hoped it would be, quirky and warm. Lovely comfortable bed with immaculate bedding. The kitchen was fully equipped with more than you normally get in self catering accommodation . The weather was dreadful for all but one day however the drama of the weather seemed appropriate for a getaway to the rugged coastline. Our friends had hired Bayview which is a property to the right of Virginia Cottage so it was great to spend time at their house and come back to Virginia Cottage at night . The pub is a short but steep walk away up the hill, nice food and nice local brew. We enjoyed it very much and we will definitely book again. PS The scones jam and cream and the milk left by the owner was a real treat .

"The cottage was as expected, great position and all the amenities we needed for a restful comfortable holiday."
-
"Lovely cottage in a great position a few hundred yards from a beach, and close to a number of seaside villages."
Very comfortable and welcoming in a quiet and peaceful location.

"Just back from a weeks stay here with my partner and two teenage girls."
The cottage was perfect, exactly what we had hoped it would be and more. It had everything we needed plus extras that we didn’t expect, such as tea coffee and sugar, washing up liquid, tea towels, toilet rolls, hand soap..even pods for the washing machine. The kitchen was very well equipped. The scones, jam and cream were a nice surprise and very welcome after a 6 hour car journey. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept so well. I loved that I could hear the sea whilst drifting off to sleep and on waking, it’s so calming. Parking wasn’t really an issue for us as we went for days out and usually got back around tea time when it was less busy and were able to park outside the cottage. We had such a lovely time and we can’t wait to book again for next year.

"All very good."
Well equipped cottage with plenty of extras. Great location for coastal walking. Host contacted us before arrival offering any information needed.

"This cottage is a hidden gem."
It is spotlessly clean with everything you need. The views out of the windows are stunning and the location peaceful and tranquil - just what we needed! We have already booked a return visit.
-
"We liked being close to the sea, enjoying excellent weather, and the friendly chats with visitors making their way to the adjacent beach for swimming and kyaking."
The only things to watch for in the cottage are the step down from the stairs, the low threshold of the front door, and the floor in the main bedroom - as is typical in old cottages, it undulates somewhat, creating a tendency to feel a little tipsy even when completely sober!

"We have just returned from a wonderful time at Virginia Cottage, cottage was in a stunning location, clean and the treats left were a very thoughtful gesture Thank you."
Cottage was so clean and comfortable we were sad to leave. We will be returning to this truly magical place.

"A lovely location & nice holiday property to stay at for the week."
Clean & tidy on arrival. Parking at times was an issue & it would have been more convenient if a parking permit was included in the cost of the booking as parking cost an extra £35 for the week & as it was public parking trying to get a space at times was challenging as it was busy during the week we stayed there. The facility has good added extras inc washing machine, iron/ironing board, hairdryer etc. Some items weren’t listed on the booking specification so it would have been helpful to know about these items as I wouldn’t have brought certain things from home otherwise. We were welcomed with scones, clotted cream, jam & milk which was a nice treat. The property had a shared garden which was a bonus. Fortunately the adjoining cottage wasn’t being utilised during our stay so we had extra space & noise wasn’t an issue. It would have been nice if the grass had been mowed before we arrived as when it was (half way through our stay) the garden was far more accessible, allowing us to utilise the bbq. On the whole it was a very pleasant stay & I would recommend to others!

"We had a lovely time."
The place is idyllic and cosy. If you are paying the £35 for the weekly carpark, it needs to be in £2 coins.

"We have recently returned from a lovely week in Virginia Cottage."
The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable and quiet. We were 4 adults and the space was adequate. Convenient location for discovering this lovely area. Hopefully we will return.

"The cottage itself was great and the cream tea and milk was very welcome on arrival."
The property has a washing machine but oddly no iron or ironing board. Portwrinkle is a popular beach location but the beach is fine shale and not sand and therefore possibly not so good for young children, although hundreds of. rock pools will appeal to older ones! Also, while the photos might suggest the sea is just at the other side of the road there is a steep drop beyond the wall. The South West Coastal Path passes within 2-3 mins which makes it an ideal location for walkers.
Thank you for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your holiday. There is an iron and ironing board in the cupboard for guests to use and so we are sorry that you missed it. Property Owner

"Virginia Cottage West is situated perfectly for a couple's retreat or walking holiday,."
It is right on the sea front and the views are beautiful. The cottage was clean and well equipped. In keeping with the age it has no central heating so there are heaters which were fine for us 2, the hot water took a bit of working out but when we fed this back to the owners they responded. The gentleman who takes care of the property made contact with me on the morning of the booking and left us a cream tea and milk which was very kind and welcoming, he was friendly and helpful and available for the weekend if we needed anything. If you were taking children there and it wasn't summer weather it may be a bit chilly inside and we could hear the conversation of the couple next door in Virginia Cottage East as the partition wall is thin. That could be an issue if one side had early rising little ones and the other didn't! But as we went away without our children for a weekend this was not a problem and we thoroughly enjoyed the peace of the village, walking and losing track of the time! It was a wonderful last minute treat.

About the location
WHITSAND BAY

Bounded by the Lynher and Tamar rivers, the Hamoaze and the sea, the area is deeply rural and designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has a good range of shops and pubs, while close by are the pretty coastal villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, from which a ferry will take you to Plymouth. Along the southern edges of the peninsula are miles of beautiful walks with glorious views of Rame Head. Just a mile south of Millbrook lies Whitsand Bay with its miles of uncrowded sandy RNLI patrolled beach and dramatic cliffs. A superb base for discovering the wild side of Cornwall.
