"Great location, cosy cottage and really appreciated the personal touches!"
-
"Lovely cosy cottage comfy bed, great location for days out and a very nice dog friendly pub doing nice food two minutes away."
Our dog loved it as did we, all you need for a very pleasant holiday.

"Lovely cottage."
Have stayed here once before and no doubt shall be returning again. The garden was a little overgrown in places - just needed to be clipped back but still usable. Cottage very well equipped, particular thought has been given to those who have a four legged friend with them. Very close to Preston Gate Inn (2 minute walk) - pre-booking ESSENTIAL for food bookings (even doing so before you leave). Great pub for food and drink especially steak night (Tuesday), fish & chips (Friday) and Sunday roast dinners.

"Lovely place to stay and very comfortable."
Secure garden area for our border collie. Facilities were more than adequate. The only minor criticism is there is no place to recycle empty bottles. There is a very nice and dog friendly pub within close proximity doing lovely food but recommend booking in advance as it gets busy. Would recommend this lovely cottage. Laraine and Roger.

"The Cottage was lovely, comfortable and a great place to stay and not too far away from Bude Town Centre."
Close enough for the odd Chinese From Hungs, and the Indian next to the golf car park. Shops were minutes away by car. The Cottage fence needs a little bit of checking as our pooch found his way in to next doors garden, the neighbour was great in letting us know so we could retrieve him. It was near the decking at the part that has no bushes growing over it so should be easy to find, as that's where she stood to call us. Hot Water on 1 day ran out, we didn't realise it wasn't constant, had to wash up by hand the following day. To be honest we prefer to washup by hand anyway, used the dishwasher twice, just takes too long. Could do with a bottle bin for recycling. Oh and a potatoes masher lol. Wasn't clear from the auto email and the guide book what to do with towels and bedding when we left so we stripped it all and left it in the bathroom. If you have any disability or are unsteady on your feet, this is not for you, if you want to chill out and relax or visit surrounding areas and have a cosy place to return to then this is a must try place. (chase BT to fix the Wi-Fi, it's intermittent, works but flaky) As if the whole town is sharing 1 pole. I get it it's hard to sort, but report it at least. Mobile Signals not brilliant so Wi-Fi is a must when looking up your next pub, or cream tea to visit etc.
Thank you for your feedback and I am glad that you liked the cottage and felt the location was good. Apologies about the fence it is always useful if visitors could ring me or leave a note in the cottage so things can be rectified immediately for them. The fence is now fixed. The dishwasher fills with cold water and then heats. As explained in all my literature IF the hot water runs out just use the boost button to reheat. Thank you for stripping the beds our caretaker was grateful for that. I have contacted BT about the drop in WiFi signal and this has now been delt with, however, this is the first time anyone has reported an issue with it - all fixed now. Property Owner

"The Cottage it’sself was lovely, everything you needed and very comfortable , but the outside let it down , the photos of the outside are old ."
The garden is very overgrown. The 2 chairs in the photo were rough and dirty and the Bistro set ( not the one in the photo)were so uncomfortable that we couldn’t sit at them for long , the garden was one of the reasons that I booked the cottage,BBQ are banned because of the Thached Roof which you can understand, but again there is one in the photo, The weather was beautiful and we couldn’t use it . The outside needs a lot of TLC in fact somebody passing by commented on the sam, a coat of paint wouldn’t go a miss, The Rd is the busiest we have ever known I am not exaggerating when I say it is like the M6 all day but especially morning and Evenings , and for Ref the nearest Sop is in Bude , the one in the Village has closed down,
Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad you felt that the cottage was lovely and we had provided everything to make your holiday enjoyable. The picture you see on the main Sykes page was taken not so long ago, the cottage although more weathered, has not changed. We provide cushions for the garden furniture which are in the lobby area - sorry if you missed them. There are also 2 chairs in this area which are for use in the garden or on the beach, which you may have found more comfortable. With regard to the exterior of the building, you are correct that it needs a lick of paint, but I did explain, both before you arrived and within our welcome folder that the land adjacent to the cottage had undergone a landslip and our boundary wall had fallen. This was a disaster for us with a direct cost of £35,000 as insurance would not cover it (small print) and we had to cancel several visitors as it was not possible to enter the site. It took 3 months for the new wall to be built. Unfortunately this and the weather meant that painting the exterior of the cottage was not possible. Sorry that you felt the garden was overgrown. The BBQ just shows how strict insurance companies have become as we used to allow them. My apologies for the photograph, this has now been removed, but as you say I did inform you of this before your holiday. There is a shop within the village and it is now situated at Wooda, and there is a note to this effect in the welcome folder. Property Owner

"Absolutely loved our week away at Easterly, dogs loved the garden, very friendly pub with great food just down the road, beaches a 5 minute drive away."
Cottage itself was super cosy & warm, yes there's traffic noise & the funny little alcove where u can hear the neighbour none of this kept as awake in the very comfortable bed apart from the night we were rudely awoken by a very loud hooting owl!! With the exception of the fantastic tapas at The Bank in Bude this was definitely the highlight & we hope to come back even just for Mr Owl! Thank you so much for having us x Lisa, David, Rossi & Tetley Ps could you put in an actual guest book for writing in at the cottage?

"The cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable."
It was well equipped, especially the kitchen. My two small dogs loved the garden, exploring all the nooks and crannies. Good off road parking with clear vision as you reverse out.
-
"I probably missed it but was really disappointed to see there was no washing machine."
We stayed for two weeks, so I had to do handwashing which isnt much fun on holiday. I also think that the allocation of one bath and hand towel per week was pretty mean! Finally they say they have a wood burner but its electric. They explain why in the welcome pack but it shouldnt be listed as a wood burner when it isnt.

"Beautiful period thatched cottage clean cosy really well maintained."
Lovely garden if you have the weather to enjoy it. Good safe environment for your dog with a nice walk into bude . Parking is tricky as your right on a traffic calming chicane, There is a large volume of traffic as its a shot cut into bude avoiding the traffic jams. and sadly no one adheres to the 20mph speed limit many in excess of 30 to 40 racing to get through.. Our son was staying in Bude and on one night came for a meal in the local pub literally 100 yards from the cottage ( highly recommended) We were told we could park in front of the property however when my son tried to the next door neighbour came out and asked us not to park there as it cracked the concrete and when it rained the water went under his property. He has placed out plant pots to deter you from parking there.
-
"The cottage could do with a spring clean ,cobwebs every where and thick dust on beams in the bedroom."
The road next to the property is very busy and nobody seems to take notice of the 20 mph speed limit, this can make it hazardous for pedestrians as there is no path ,other than that a nice base to explore Cornwall .
-
"Fantastic cottage, very well equipped."
The only downfall is, the back garden is lovely, but could do with some more solar powered lighting all the way down until the decking area. It doesn't have to be mega bright but just to find your way dawn the pathway. Otherwise the garden is lovely, like a magical mystery garden. Gardener needs to cut back a little.
Amanda, Glad you enjoyed your stay at Easterly and a very good idea about the solar lights. I know the garden light reaches so far but solar lights would work well. Lee our gardener unfortunately hurt is back a few week ago so has been on restricted duties, but I am assured he is back now and all looking good once again. Hope to welcome you back at Easterly in the future. Property Owner

"We had a really lovely week in Easterly cottage."
It was just right for the two of us and Ivy the spaniel. There was everything we needed for a relaxing week in Cornwall and it was very dog friendly and the garden was safe and secure. I didn’t do a lot of cooking while there but cottage was well equipped. We were a little concerned about downstairs bathroom during the night but owner had thought of everything ( torches in drawers by the bed) . Handy having pub so local too. Would love to return when we get the chance. Ideal spot for visiting North Cornwall coast and Bude so close you can walk should you wish.
Jean Really glad you enjoyed your stay at Easterly Cottage. Look forward to seeing yu again in the future. Property Owner

"Delightful little cottage and very cozy."
The local pub was brilliant and food great. The only thing that lets it down is the amount off traffic that comes and even though there is a speed limit drivers still ignore it.
-
"Such a lovely little cottage."
We very much enjoyed our stay. The cottage is small but ample for 2 people. A real treat for us to have a tv in the bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped. The garden is totally secure and on the one day it was warm enough for us to sit out it was very peaceful. We managed to visit Padstow, Rock, Port Isaac, Fowey, Clovelly and Appledore over our weeks stay. Plenty to see! The cottage does sit on a road, and you can hear cars, but with the shutters closed it didn’t bother us at all. We have no hesitation in recommending this cottage.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner
-
"Absolutely awesome."
The location, the cottage awesome. Would definitely recommend to anyone. If there was to be one criticism would be that the cottage is very close to the road but that would not stop us going again.
Thank you for your feedback, I glad you enjoyed your stay at Easterly Cottage Property Owner

"Not happy at all with this cottage panel in living room you can hear the ..."
Not happy at all with this cottage panel in living room you can hear the neighbour through was not told this in the advert, towels at the property was not properly laundered , excess road noise outside property very difficult to get car out on to road not properly advertised Gardener just turned up at cottage was not informed of this when you rent a property its for private use you do not expect a gardener coming to carry out work in the garden this is not fair to the customer and not value for money could not recommend this property
Thank .you for your feedback. Old cottages quite often have quirky layout especially when you book an attached cottage, the fact that you could hear our neighbour in his garden is a shame he lives alone and is not generally a noisy person - but it is his home. I have spoken to the caretaker regarding the towels, if you had notified her of this at the time, they would have been changed for you. The picture of the cottage shows it as being on a road and during peak season as with anywhere there is traffic. If you were having difficulty reversing off the drive you should have parked in the space in front of the cottage. In the literature I sent you before your holiday it stated that the gardener would visit during your stay. If you had informed me that you were not happy with this I would of cancelled him. He is only on site for a maximum of 1 hour, however, after you spoke to him he left. Maybe a detached cottage would be more suitable for you. Property Owner

"Nice period property."
Head room low in parts in the upstairs bedroom. I’m 5ft 9 and several times when got out of bed, bonked my head on the angular wood beams. So any 6 footers take care. The kitchen was nicely laid out and well equipped but the timing control on the microwave was not very precise particularly at the lower settings. The lighting in extract fan unit had one failed lamp. The shower room was excellent and shower worked well. Lastly would like to see the entrance door lock improved as the mortice lock has a poor fitting and is weak.
Thank you for your feedback I agree that head height is challenging, but that's what you get with old cottages! I have changed the microwave to the old style twist knob as some people in the past have had issues with the more modern digital one - its hard to know which to choose. There are spare bulbs for all lights and the extractor hood under the sink as explained in your welcome folder - this has now been replaced. Door lock has long been tricky - there used to be a 2nd lock on the door, but unfortunately guests had a habit of locking themselves out, so we had to remove it - however I understand that this needs addressing and I will be looking into a 2nd lock or maybe some bolts. "Loved Bude The cottage is darker than the pictures (no real problem) There was a real smell of wet dogs though - on the carpet by the sofa - i have dogs but it was strong - perhaps the floor would be better to be wood so you can remove the smell better and whilst bedding was clean it had dog hairs ( hard to get out) on the bottom sheets - I would put a child gate on steps and not allow upstairs."
Heating was storage heaters so only came on at night - in winter that would be cold?
I am sorry that you smelt wet dogs. The carpets were professionally cleaned the week before you arrived and no dog had been in the property in between. Being a 400 year old cottage the windows are small and the walls very thick this may mean it can seem dark, especially as the weather was so bad for you, which is why we provided adequate lighting to suit all situations. Unfortunately, the age of the cottage means the floors are uneven and wooden flooring would not be suitable. Yes there is only night storage heaters for winter use which is adequate, however, we also provide the electric "log" effect stove, an oil filled radiator and electric radiators in bathroom and kitchen should you require for other months. Dogs upstairs is a personal choice and I agree dogs on the bed in the bedroom does not suit all, we do provide "dog" covers- we have to encourage people to use them. I hope these things and the weather did not spoil your stay at Easterly Cottage Property Owner

"Wonderful stay and the property itself is charming."
We received a phone call a few days before we went to let us know that the gardener was late going due to illness/injury and would be coming a few days into our stay, which he did, but the overgrown plants etc around the parking space did initially make things a little tricky but as I said we were informed about this so it wasn't a big issue. It is obviously an old property with low ceilings so we did have a few bumped heads but of course this can't be helped and is our own fault for being so clumsy! Just mind your head if you are over 5'9 or so! A few points which didn't affect our stay but I did want to mention: - no recycling, we go through a lot of cans of fizzy pop and found the single black bin filled up very quickly - I think a mirror by the parking space would be great for assisting backing off the drive, I have a large car and you can't see properly to back off, although the road itself isn't super busy it was difficult to back off without being able to see oncoming traffic especially at night with limited lighting - The oven - we did try to use the main oven but previous occupants had obviously burnt something and left it resulting in a lot of smoke when we tried to cook, I did try and clear out as much as I could but the smoke persisted and I didn't want to set off the fire alarms so we just made do with the hobs, again not a huge issue just something that the cleaner may have overlooked Excellent points that deserve a mention: - the bottle of milk, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits upon arrival was a very welcome touch and we were very grateful - the covers provided for the furniture and bed were great - sometimes when you stay in a dog friendly property there is strict rules about them being on the furniture but I thought it was a lovely (and realistic!) idea to provide covers - The smart TVs were great and easy to use - Large and comfortable bed - Things like dishwasher tablets, a couple of toilet rolls, binbags, washing up liquid, hand soap etc were provided which was fantastic - There was a fan and a hair dryer which we were not expecting but made use of both! - Property was clean and well presented Overall a really lovely stay and we wouldn't hesitate to come back! Thank you :)

"Lovely cottage."
Clean and comfortable. Garden pretty but a little overgrown and the window box flowers were all dead which spoilt the look at the front of the cottage. Close to a road with frequent traffic noise which did distract from the pretty cottage.
Thank you for your feedback. It seems that my gardener broke his wrist several weeks ago and had not managed to get the worked covered, but did not inform me. All now sorted. Property Owner

"Lovely cottage with every thing we needed."
Thoughtful with regard to dogs ie covers for couch and bed - realistic! Nice welcome pack, biscuits, milk, tea, coffee. Also good provision of extras such as washing up liquid, loo rolls, rubbish bags. The garden is small but charming. The decked area was sunny for most of the day - we ate our meals there. Loved the planting - very cottage garden. Although the cottage is on a road it is not busy and is still a quiet spot, especially in the garden. Sarah sent us information about the cottage and area prior to our arrival which was very helpful. We booked Sunday lunch at The Preston Gate which is a few hundred yards away. Wonderful food. . Only thing I would like is a small arm chair downstairs. Perhaps remove one of the small wooden tables? A very enjoyable and relaxing holiday and we will be back again. Thank you.

"A really lovely cottage, well equipped and comfortable."
A small problem with a rickety dining chair which was replaced very promptly. No complaints!
-
"We had a very pleasant short-break stay at Easterly Cottage and would not hesitate to recommend."
Perfect for a couple who like a character property and secure garden for those with dogs. Great for walkers easy to walk to Bude or few minutes in car.
-
"This is a lovely little cottage just a mile or so out of the center of Bude."
The living room and bedroom are much bigger than we expected when seeing the cottage from outside. Also a lovely friendly pub just 50 yards from the cottage. We loved our holiday in this cottage.
-
"We loved our stay here!"
Plenty of room for the two of us & the dogs in a great location to explore Bude by foot or vehicle! Also well placed to explore further afield. The cottage is everything as described & they really do include the dogs in being comfortable. Excellent distance from the pub providing good food & local drinks. We would definitely return and thank you for letting us stay!
-
"We loved the cottage great base read a few reviews before we arrived was worried about road by cottage but was not that bad thoroughly enjoyed bude great beaches close by and lots of interesting places of interest not far away ."
Would recommend anyone to visit

"We felt that Easterly Cottage was well placed for exploring North Cornwall and was comfortable."
However, we were disappointed as we felt the photos of the property were a little misleading. Whilst we totally realise it's a listed building the photos made all the rooms quite bright. However, in reality they are dark and the lights were needed on even during the day. The bed was comfortable but felt both the pillows and duvet need replacing as both were fairly flat. We were asked by the owners to fully strip the bed and place everything in a plastic bag (which was provided to protect the cleaners from Covid) However, to my horror when we stripped the pillows a couple of them had yellow staining (such as happens when they are old and have been heavily used). The mattress also had marks on it. In light of covid and also the stringent measures the owner asked us to follow we were shocked that we had been sleeping on these pillows/mattress all week!! (there were pillow/mattress protectors but again we're of poorer quality). I felt quite sick at the thought of it found it unacceptable with Covid still circulating around. In light of this we are unable to provide a more positive feedback for Easterly Cottage.
Thank you for leaving feedback on our cottage, I'm sorry you felt our pictures are misleading but as you say it is a 400 year old listed thatched cottage with small windows and on a gloomy day it will seem a little dim inside. Thank you for bringing the pillows to our attention. I have immediately contacted the current visitors and had them changed. I have also bought it to the attention of my cleaners, so this has now been addressed. Property Owner

"A lovely little cottage with a lovely garden."
Great, dog friendly beaches nearby. An ideal location for exploring North Cornwall and Devon.

"It was great to get to this holiday as we had this property booked last November but couldn’t go due to covid 19 restrictions."
Fast forward July 2021. Very quaint little cottage very conveniently located from town, great safe off street parking and most home from home amenities, ie toaster, kettle, fridge, freezer, spinner, 2 huge televisions, clean bedding and even blankets for the pooch !!! The little touches the property offered made our holiday one to remember and we’ll definitely want to go back. Well done Easterley cottage
-
"It was a shame the previous occupants didnt clear up after their dog as there was several deposits left to great us!"
-
"Really enjoyed our stay."
Well equipped cottage which was super comfortable. Garden was lovely and very secure for our dog. There was a BBQ which was not listed in the details. Would definitely recommend
-
"Lovely cottage and enjoyed our stay."
Nice touch when we arrived there was tea and coffee plus milk to make a brew after a long journey. Only negative was the traffic passing which seemed pretty constant outside Easterly cottage. This couldn't be helped. Probably due to Staycation! Would come back again Thank you
-
"Well organised, extremely professional, communication is superb."
-
"Once again we had a wonderful week in Easterly cottage , It’s such a wonderful cosy little cottage perfect for two people and a dog Being so close to many walks down to Bude and countryside."
If you’re looking for something to eat or drink there is a pub just down the road. Looking forward to booking next year.
-
"Lovely cottage and some lovely touches as dog owners, would definitely recommend and stay again!"
-
"Our stay at Easterly Cottage was a great one!"
It’s such a lovely little place. It’s nice and close to Bude, and well positioned to get to other beautiful places in Cornwall. We loved how dog friendly the cottage is as a lot of places claim to be dog friendly but then don’t allow dogs in certain areas or they’re not allowed on any furniture, but this cottage provides throws to enable dogs to go on the sofa and bed which was perfect for us! There is a pub that is only a 1 minute walk away and is a lovely pub (Preston Gate Inn). It’s worth mentioning that from the top of the garden you can see the sea which I think is a brilliant selling point! All in all, thoroughly recommend.
-
"This holiday cottage is very beautiful on the outside and inside, however there are several issues, 1."
Road noise, although it’s a village location, it appears a rat run for lots of cars, even though there are speed bumps and road narrowing outside the cottage causing cars to stop and speed through the gap. 2. I know the cottage stated pets welcome, however the cottage smelt heavily of wet dog even though it was cleaned, the smell continued for our 2 week holiday, the smell did fade however once the carpet was hoovered the smell came back again with vigour. We had to buy febreze for dog odour and smelly candles and air fresheners. Finally the garden is raised and when I went up to explore I was confronted with dog mess, not cleaned by the previous occupants or cleaner/gardener, fair to say we didn’t go up again and I had to clean up other people’s dog mess. Not a good example of a skyes 4 star property.
I am sorry that you had a bad experience at Easterly Cottage. It is very hard to control how people care for our cottage during their stay with dogs. I believe the week before you stayed was a very wet week and therefore it is inevitable that any dogs would be wet. In these difficult times, our cleaners are concentrating on ensuring the cottage is cleaned and sanitised because of Covid so it is hard for them to wash carpets within the window of time they have before you arrive. With regard to the dog mess, again this is down to the previous occupant. My gardener comes in during the week and therefore he would not off seen this. With regard to the road, I show the cottage in my pictures as on the road, and like most Cornish villages at this time of year it can become busy, which is why we had hand made shutters fitted in the bedroom to avoid possible disruption. Cottage was amazing facilities excellent felt really homely and our dogs were really happy excellent garden parking and we even had a Christmas tree and decorations ( it was a lovely touch) Biscuits and tea and milk on arrival such thoughtfulness and a nice start to our Christmas stay highly recommended five star Thank you

"The road, although very narrow, appears to be a known route into Bude, and carries a lot of commuter and local traffic, especially in mornings and evenings."
It is difficult to reverse a car out of the parking space at these times. Apart from these relatively minor points, we thought that Easterly Cottage was a great place to stay.
-
"Great cottage location with pub 5 doors down and nice walking distance to Bude and Northcote Mouth beach ."
-
"It would be great to have a washing machine!"
The location is very convenient for exploring beyond Bude. We visited Clovelly, Port Isaac, Widemouth Bay and Padstow for example. Perfect for my husband and i and our dog. There was confusion over the check in time which was originally communicated as 3pm but we were told 4pm on the day of arrival. As check out is 10 am i would have expected an earlier check in time anyway. The information book in the Cottage also states 11 am departure time and 3 pm check-in time so there does seem to be a miscommunication between the owner and Sykes Cottages which can be easily remedied by both parties. Other than that we would return.
-
"The cottage was neat and cosy."
The dogs loved it too. We know the area well, it was easy access to drive to dog friendly beaches and coastal walks, supermarkets too. The weather was mixed so we did not use the well kept pretty garden much, but it had a lovely view and comfy chairs if needed. TV screens were huge and all options worked well. We had a few comments for housekeeper who answered text promptly. Washing machine could have helped if you could squeeze it in! Thanks!
-
"Really lovely cottage everything we needed."
Pub 85 yards good traditional beer and food ate there 3times and was great
-
"The cottage had clearly been recently refurbished to a high standard, and very sympathetically."
Spotlessly clean. Perfectly situated next to a great village Pub. Off road parking, and a lovely secluded garden to boot! Can't fault the place. Well worth every penny. A beautiful piece of Cornish history.
-
"Lovely cottage, clean and well equipped."
Lovely garden to sit out in. A one minute stroll to a lovley village pub which served good food and welcomed dogs.
-
"Very pretty cottage and small private court yard garden."
Exceptionally clean throughout. Able to walk to the beach within 20 minutes but be aware a short section of the road from the cottage is without a footpath and can be busy at rush hour times. Local pub serves delicious food but you may need to book a table.
-
"We had a lovely week in the cottage which we found to be exceptionally clean, with plenty of towels (not just the bare minimum which we have found in other cottages."
) The location of the cottage is quite good being only a couple of minutes drive from Bude which is our favourite cornish town. There is a dishwasher which we did'nt use but would have preferred a washing machine. But all in all we loved the cottage and out of interest we would love to know how old it actually is? We guess about 350 years old? Lovely 2ft thick walls-fascinating!
-
"Very happy to have found this last minute venue."
Slightly concerned for parking of large vehicle parking, but managed to manoeuvre our small camper. All in all we had a lovely week. The local is very laid back and good for food&drink.
-
"The location of the cottage is ideal for visiting attractions on the North Cornwall coast."
The local pub is just 100yds away and serves excellent food, although I would recommend booking particularly at weekends. Overall this is one of the best cottages I have stopped at in Cornwall.
-
"Easterly cottage was a lovely little cottage just perfect for the two of us and our dog, the garden was fully secure which put our minds at rest as soon as we got there."
The cottage was beautifully clean and well equipped, the bed was very comfortable and to have a tv in the bedroom was good to.Overall we had a lovely time and were sad to come home, would definitely stay there again.
-
"Cottage lovely really warm on cold evenings very impressed with shower."
Our Welsh terrier loved the enclosed rear garden, pub 1min away with real ale and wonderful food please be aware of the very large portions. Many thanks from us both.
-
"This weekend was absolutely perfect for us!"
The cottage is stunningly beautiful and just as described. The off road parking was perfect as the road was a little busy and slightly narrow so it's great to have a driveway, the little green was lovely, would be great to use in summer for bbq bbq breakfast etc. Loved the woodburner andbthe smart TVs, the bed was so comfy too! So full of character, beautifully decorated, everything you need was provided. 1minute walk to the local pub where there was live bands and fantastic food! The only thing that we could say if we are trying to find a negative would be, bath sheets instead of bath towels. Perfect we hope to return some time soon. :)
-
"Lovely cottage, comfortable for 2 people and a dog, thought of everything, dog settled in straight away, 6 min drive to the beach, and walking distance to the pub, great location!"
Spot on. Will definetly book again!

"Decided to take a late one week break on the wild North Cornwall coast with my dog and do some walking on the nearby South West Coastal Path."
Easterly Cottage seemed to have just the right balance of character and amenities I was looking for, with its close proximity to the coast and being pet friendly. One always books these places with some trepidation and with the suspicion that there might be something horrible and undisclosed. It was with some relief and the most pleasant of surprises to find that Easterly Cottage is exactly as you would want it to be. Located within minutes of down town Bude and also several other more secluded but charming coastal locations. Its amenities are of excellent quality and comprehensive, all as described, so no further comment is required on that front. Clean and beautifully presented, it is a truly classic cottage. Characterful and charming throughout with its open fire place and exposed beams.............. and my favourite feature of all.............the balcony bedroom with a huge king sized bed. All this and,at the same time, blended tastefully with a modern kitchen and shower room. Whilst I rented the cottage for myself and the dog, it is most definitely a romantic, cosy "getaway from it all" sort of place and one that I will most certainly return to. Two minor points to mention....that in my opinion do not detract overall from the place are: 1 - Ploughill is clearly a rat run for traffic heading to and from Bude, so at certain times of the day the traffic noise is rather more than would otherwise be desirable. 2- Keeping the Log Burner alight can be a challenge. I am well used to log burners but if visitors are coming in the Autumn or Winter I suggest that you come armed with plenty of kindling and firelighters to throw at the thing to keep it going when it starts to flag! Neither of these are deal breakers but, for balance sake, need to be recorded. Highly recommended.

"Lovely comfortable cottage, all you needed and more."
Location was great, able to access areas easily around us. Local pub was friendly and the food was good. We were a little concerned when we read a review that suggested it was small. Well we thought it was perfect even with two large dogs. Some people may find the traffic noise a bit too much in the morning, but although we were aware of it, it didn't worry us as everything else was perfect.
-
"A fantastically positioned little cottage that was ideal for our stay."
Just a mile outside of Bude it was so easy to go and explore for the day and come back to as a welcome retreat. Any couple plus dog will have a wonderful time!
-
"It’s a lovely cottage just road is excessively busy all the time."
Cottage is nice but smaller than looks in the picture. For the money we could have got better.

"You should mention in the description that it is on a hill which may be an issue for people with poor mobility."
The cottage was excellent and suited our purposes but one draw back was the traffic which was constant throughout the day and loud even with the windows closed.
-
"A beautifully appointed cottage with everything we needed and more."
We would certainly recommend the property. All very clean and comfortable.

About the location
BUDE
Tintagel 17 miles.
Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and excellent Information Centre. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. Follow the coast in the other direction and there's the little cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac and yet more great surfing beaches at Polzeath.
