"Widmouth Farm is wonderful."
The cottages are really comfortable, well maintained and with everything you need and the access to the private beach and North Devon coastal path is great. Scenery is stunning and it's a perfect place to escape to and relax. The owners at the main farm were very friendly and I have already recommended to friends and family

"We stayed 2weeks at Widmouth Farm Cottages, a complex of about 10 cottages, arranged in 2 or 3 terraces, at fairly close proximity around a sort of central courtyard & looking out at each other, take note as privacy not the best."
We were due to switch to Roundbarn cottage for the 2nd week, but the owners, at our request, kindly agreed to us staying put at Heron Cottage The cottage was nicely furnished and the hot water & c/h worked very efficiently. But at just over £200 a night the cottage was not really good value, too cramped for us (2 adults, one child and a dog). Upstairs is a nice big double bedroom with windows looking out the front t - and a much smaller 2nd bedroom with 2 small narrow twin beds- a bit of a squeeze to pass through The smaller bedroom has a view of the sea & lovely little bay below Downstairs the living toom was comfortable & adequatel furnished but rather small, with a rather small poor quality tv (no tvs upstairs either). The kitchen/ diner was also a bit cramped, and there was just the one bathroom toilet- also downstairs There are no individual gardens and the doors & windows look straight out at cottages opposite, so it can feel a bit claustrophobic The place itself is beautifully located on a hill.overlooking a nice little typical N Coast grey colored beach & bay, with plenty of walking trails around & over the magnificent cliffs. The whole area of the N Devon coast & coastal towns is pretty steep (take note those of you with dodgy knees) and staggeringly beautiful, espec when the sun comes out Driving out of the property onto the main road at the top is a bit tricky, it's hard to see clearly both ways & traffic zooms along at some speed, so caution is advised There's no network at the property so you have to use wifi. The place is owned by a family who live in a nice big house on the property itself, husband wife & daughter. The daughter is the appointed manager but we hardly ever saw her. The mum is a very nice lady, often found gardening and I very much enjoyed chatting with her, but bottom line they don't really seem to bother much or care for their guests, not just our opinion bit a couple of other guests too. For contact they only give you a landline & there's no network so you can't get through to them without leaving the place & walking up the steep hill to the top of the road. Why can't they provide a mob no so you get them on Whatsap. In the 2 days prior to leaving London, I called the manager daughter 3 times & she never picked or returned my calls. That's not a good initial impression and our stay sort of confirmed that. They just leave you to yourself, tho I stress they're all v nice people Final point: you can't check-in is before 4.00pm but have to be out by 10.00am, that seems to be the rules all over these day and it's a bit unfair & stressful Joanna & Tony

"Amazing week away in a lovely place."
The whole farm are very beautiful and very quiet. The private beach was great when you wanted to get away from the crowds on the other beaches. The owners were very friendly and feeding time of the animals was great for the kids. I would go back and stay in one of the cottages with out any hesitation again. 5 stars from me and I'm sure the other families we got to know on our week away would say the same.

"Went at a time a family stayed in cottages by us."
They were celebrating a 60th birthday. Very noisy till 12.30am first two nights. Did not sleep much, could not put up with a third night, so came home. Could not contact anyone with number supplied. Heron cottage definitely not a 4 star. Would say 2-3 star. Needs attention to decor. Bathroom do a mess. General decor through out tatty. Cleanliness average.
Thank you for providing feedback for Heron Cottage, I am sorry if some of the neighbors were noisy, if we were aware of this we could have had a word with the other guests and asked them to keep the noise down. We have installed a new bathroom recently and the decor purchased is all brand new, and we think it is worth the 4 ticks that'AA tourism’ rate our cottages as 4 star gold. We have come across your feedback on Facebook which is the complete opposite of this one. We apologise for the noise and wished you contacted us or Sykes about this to assist you Property Owner

"Great location and property."
Only small issue was the shower was a pain to operate. We used the coastal walks and beach which were very nice. It would be nicer if the coastal path around the properties land was cleared a little to make it’s use easier as it was better looked after elsewhere. All in all, a lovely holiday was had.

"Heron Cottage was nicely presented however we had certain issues and actually returned home on the 15th June rather than complete our stay."
The biggest issue for us was the downstairs toilet/bathroom which was not mentioned in the cottage details. My wife has some mobility issues and having to go downstairs at night was a big issue. Stairs are quite steep. We also had a plumbing issue with the shower which required a lot of strength to turn on and as much force to turn off and apparently the cottage owners are having problems with the company who carried out the upgrade of five of the cottages and all have the same problem. The issue is ongoing but this is not a problem guests want to experience, particularly older guests. A container for shower gel, shampoo and conditioner would be helpful in the shower. The shower floor was not ideal. There was no DVD in our cottage. We were told to check for a slot at the back of the TV but there was no slot. Wardrobe storage was very limited and I feel sure would be a problem for four adults as there was only a very small cupboard in the main bedroom.

"What a delightful place."
Our cottage was spotlessly clean and had all the comforts of home. Stylish but simple decor and the beds were comfortable. The layout of the farm and cottages is lovely and a very short and easy walk to the private beach. We loved it so much we extended our stay. It is very dog friendly and our dachshund had the best time. The owners are very friendly and approachable and we will definitely be back

"A lovely cosy cottage set in beautiful surroundings."
The farm animals and private beach were a highlight - we enjoyed going down to the beach every day with the dog for a paddle! We had everything we needed to make this little place home for the week and would definitely love to go back again!

"A beautiful well equipped cottage in such a gorgeous setting."
-
"Our stay at Heron cottage was wonderful."
The setting is beautiful, being able to walk from the door down to the South West Coastal Path and the farm’s private beach was fantastic. It was an added bonus walking through the animals when we went for walks. We were very lucky with the weather so we saw it all in the sunshine. The cottage is well equipped, although the corkscrew and cooker hood filter need replacing. The interior is very nicely decorated and furnished, making it a relaxing atmosphere. The cleaning arrangements made it feel very COVID-safe. A perfect spot for exploring North Devon.

"We had a fantastic week here."
The weather was kind. The cottage was spotless and very well equipped. In a lovely setting. Beds were really comfy. Loved meeting all the really friendly animals. Private beach was an added bonus. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

"Great location and a wonderful place."
Cottage has been renovated to a good standard so made for a very comfortable stay. Farm has lots to do and the beach was a few minutes walk away. The highlight of the trip was getting to spend time with the lovely alpacas and seeing all the other animals.
-
"The stay in our cottage was really beautiful."
The newly renovated rooms were very cozy, so we had a very relaxed and cozy time on the farm. To experience the many animals up close was a great experience for us townspeople. We and the children really enjoyed it. We can highly recommend the farm.

"We had a wonderful time at Heron Cottage last week."
Beautiful views, beach in walking distance and very friendly animals on the farm. We loved feeding them every morning and would definitely recommend this holiday to families with young children. Heron cottage was spotlessly clean and the beds were really comfortable. The welcome cream tea waiting for us on arrival was a lovely touch. 10/10 from the White family.

"Yes.as a holiday farm one would expect to animal droppings around the cottages."
But what let this place down was unsightly piles of rubbish and areas where an attempt install drainage was seemed to have been abandoned. Although we enjoyed our stay at Widmouth farm I think the farm has lost its attractiveNess compared to previous year's. Having been going there several times before.
