  • "Good location."

Two bedrooms, one bed was very uncomfortable and caused backache, the other bed was good. The rest of the cottage was great. Good neighbour at No.3, pleasant and friendly.

  • "4 Cumberland Cottages, This cottage is in a fantastic location, idilic."

Great food at the pub next door. Our trip wasn't the best to the cottage and upon arrival it was beautiful. To the eye!! Great location. Very well equipped kitchen. The smell of damp & mould hit us straight away but we ignored this, as old (previously flooded according to a local in the pub) houses do suffer with this issue. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. (We let the owner and a note for the cleaner to let them know) No sqeedgy to wipe down after a shower and very little bathroom item space. If you were a party of 4, very annoying. Showers were quick so as not to use limited hot water. The upstairs smelt very strongly of mould and damp. Could almost feel it in the hard, hessian type carpet. Stairs are quite steep with a lethal "blind" step into the back bedroom If you have allergies or asthma would avoid staying here. All the cushions and pillows are goose/duck feather. Awful , toxic to dogs, stick scent bottles everywhere (to mask the stale damp smell we would imagine). The Henry hoover smelt horrific of old previous wet dogs. The courtyard could definitely do with some attention! Slippery cobbles, (weather is not the owners fault) and very green from moisture. The dog in the row of cottages which was a residence dog. Howled alot. During sitting trying to relax, which set our own dog off The owner was aware of this as when we told them, they assured us the dog was loved. That's as maybe. Sounded quite distressed not to mention annoying. We get you get the odd cobweb in old places, but think the cleaners could make more of an effort on this front The bathroom was covered in them. It is a nice looking cottage, and as previously stated , we'll equipped kitchen. Although the skylight in kitchen has a cracked window with plants growing through it from outside. I would say if you don't mind damp and have no allergies. Go for it

Thank you for your leaving your feedback. We were surprise to hear that there was a damp smell omitting from the upstairs carpet. The upstairs bedrooms are not carpeted. There was no dampness or mould found The flooding of the cottage you mention, was due to an extreme weather event Thirteen years ago. There is no shortage of hot water available to guests. The Vacuum cleaner was found to be clean and not smelling No Cobwebs were found in the bathroom, however there was a cobweb in the water cylinder cupboard. No plants are growing through the kitchen skylight. However the stem of a plant had become trapped when the window was shut. There are both Fibre and Feather pillows available at the cottage giving Guests the choice of which to use. There is a note on the cottage website informing guests of the steepness of the Stairs and additional step into the bedrooms. However, we do hope that you did managed to enjoy some of what this beautiful location has to offer. Property Owner

We had an amazing 7 day stay . Plenty to see and do , and the Journeys End pub next door to have a relaxing drink at the end of a day , but book before hand as they are very popular, the food is out standing !! We have nothing to complain about , parking was fine just up the road a 5 min walk , the exercise did me good. Thank you for a peaceful holiday , it was hard to leave .

Thank you for your feedback So glad you enjoyed your stay Property Owner

  • "No car parking space, garden and sitting area over grown and lots of weeds so we couldn’t sit outside, outside furniture was dirty."

We wasn’t told that the pub next door beer garden was directly our view from our sitting room so we had to keep windows and curtains closed.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. The Cottage in not advertised with a designated parking space. We are sorry you felt the garden was over grown, this is a cottage garden and although well kept, it is in keeping with its rural setting, the seating is also cleaned down each week, however, we will of course pass these comments to the owner. We were surprised to read that the pub garden looks into the sitting room as the cottage is situated 3ft lower than the garden and can only be seen out of the small corner window. We do hope you enjoyed your holiday despite the matters you have raised and enjoyed all the area has to offer. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage with lots of character, lovely comfortable beds, kitchen had everything we needed, in a great location for coastal path."

We loved the unspoilt cove just a short walk away. The pub next door had great charm however was fully booked all week for food so only able to have a drink. A little confusing with having supplies in fridge as we used some milk then read in a folder it was not to use. We replaced it but perhaps a note on the shelf would be better as we didn't read folder until next day. Then we worried if the lemon drizzle cake was for us, it was delicious! Thank you. The designated parking was not available, maybe because of pub being busy. Overall we had a lovely stay and would return, Thank you.

Thank you for your Feedback. So glad you had a lovely stay. Your suggestion of a note on the Fridge shelf is a really good idea and will stop any further "Fridge Confusion", so thank you for that. Hope to welcome you back in the future. Thank you. Property Owner

About the location

RINGMORE

Bigbury-on-Sea 3 miles; Kingsbridge 7 miles; Salcombe 11 miles; Plymouth 15.5 miles.

Ringmore is a small village in Devon, in the South Devon AONB, one mile from the secluded beach and stunning cliffs of Bigbury Bay.
The Saxon church of All Hallows stands majestically over this quintessentially English village. Ringmore is a conservation village with thatched cottages, a peaceful rural pace of life & an award winning pub, the Journey's End Inn serving cask ales, local produce and a friendly welcome. A comprehensively stocked shop and Post Office is located in St Anne's Chapel, a short drive away and they are happy to deliver. Three different paths lead down to Ayrmer Cove from the village, and connect with the South West Coast Path. Footpaths lead to Challaborough Bay and to the golden sandy beaches of Bigbury-on-Sea, from which Burgh Island is reached by the famous Sea Tractor. Bigbury-on-Sea beach is ideal for family holidays. Everyone is sure to marvel at the huge expanse of sand, enjoy exploring the rock pools, or sample the varied watersports available to the more active visitors. If you want to try something different from the body boarding or surfing, then windsurfing and kite-surfing are gaining popularity here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. For peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury-on-Sea’s Blue Flag beach from May to September, and a fabulous café specialising in selling organic and local food; whose surf ‘n’ turf is one of the best in the area. A few miles from Ringmore are plenty of delightful South Hams villages, coastal beauty spots and the traditional English market town of Kingbridge on the estuary.
