  • "Key to frond door from outside sometimes jams."

Shower needs a knife to raise the nob as it seems to get jammed shut. Lots of glasses and crockery chipped .. Otherwise very comfortable, another enjoyable stay and hopefully we will be back..

  • "This was our third stay in 4 Glenthorne House and apart from one small problem, which was quickly dealt with, was trouble free."

The apartment is perfectly positioned for all the amenities Salcombe has to offer and contains everything one needs for a relaxing break. Clive & Jan Warner

  • "We had a lovely stay."

The shower of the bath didn’t work but we shared the on suite shower. The entrance is very messy as the cleaners don’t seem to hoover it from either flat 3 or 4. It took a while to find out what to do with our rubbish as nothing mentioned in the book.eventually the local office dropped off some green bags. It would have been nice to have comfy seats on the balcony to enjoy the view. The balcony was green and could have done with a clean. Overall comfortable so shame about the small issues. I would go back though as it’s well placed for the town with parking which is essential in Salcombe.

  • "Overall we had a good stay."

We know the area well having stayed in Salcombe many times. The location is very good - just a 2min walk into town. The space in the apartment is good and the view from the balcony amazing. The main bathroom was not very clean when we arrived. There were long hairs in the bathroom drawers and on the side. The balcony was also quite dirty with green moss and dirt around the edges. The flat is in a poor state of repair and needs work to bring it up to standard (although nothing urgent enough to raise during the week). As some examples, there were three chairs outside (not enough for us to use as a family) and one is broken. The table wasn't big or stable enough to use for any meals - a shame given the view. The plaster behind the kitchen radiator is crumbling off the wall (looks like damp). The ensuite shower leaks into the bathroom and the plumbing under the sink also leaks. An owner of another flat downstairs asked if they could come in and have a look as they were getting water leaking into their property from this one. It's not obvious where to put rubbish - there are black bags and green bags, but we couldn't find a wheelie bin for the black bags or any recycling. It would be helpful to have a couple of fans - the flat gets very hot at night and you can't open a window in the main bedroom as it's doors only. We wouldn't stay in this property again unless it is improved.

  • "A comfortable seat on the veranda to appreciate the lovely scenic estuary view would have been nice."

Two points which really apply to Glenthorne House itself: the hallway leading to Flat 4 also leads to Flat 3 and it needs a proper clean. Also, a spot of weeding around the property would enhance its appeal.

  • "Holiday disrupted by building works next door (drilling etc."

), which we were not made aware of before we booked. Also meant parking next to scaffolding and building works. Flat very comfortable and great location, however minor decorative and operational issues. Shower leaks through shower screen, rotten bath panel and creaky furniture. Also no oven gloves in the kitchen.

  • "The property has a great view and it’s an amazing location for the yacht club for regatta week as well as town."

Second bedroom needs new beds - they were very uncomfortable. We had some trouble with the shower. The balcony was not cleaned despite a complaint on the first day.

  • "Enjoyed our second stay at this property."

Just a couple of points. The main shower is sometimes tricky to change from bath to shower. Could do with a small milk jug. More comfy outdoor furniture. More toilet rolls please. Positive points Lovely and clean Liked the box of new cleaning products Will definitely like to return

  • "The cream sofa is broken so very uncomfortable."

The single mattresses both need replacing - they were uncomfortable last easter when we visited but painful now one year on. Ask the cleaners to clean inside the double bed frame - it is thick with white dog hair. There is a lot of BLACK MOULD on the bedroom wall in 2nd bedroom around the window and all inside the wardrobe, which is a danger to health and should be dealt with.

  • "The apartment was perfect for us."

The location and ease to walk to town was great. We travelled with our dog, so the little park next to the apartment was great at night for the last outing of the day. It was really comfortable and decorated really well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.

  • "Lovely flat with an amazing view of the estuary and parking which is a must in Salcombe."

Had a lovely stay with our teenage daughters, the flat being the perfect size for a family of 4. The biggest let down was the bathroom, it’s dated and there is mould around the window in the shower which isn’t nice to shower in. Also, the toilet is leaking which was noticed on the last day as just thought it was condensation on the floor. Overall, lovely but needs some tlc.

  • "Unbeatable location."

Perfect for our family vacation with our dog. So helpful to have parking in Salcombe. We love the balcony with the stunning view but would love more comfortable outdoor furniture to really take advantage of it. Love the new comfy sofas in the sitting room as well as the great quality mattress and bedding in the master bedroom. Also the new panelling in the hall. The loo seat in the master bathroom could do with replacing or tightening as it keeps sliding to one side and I was concerned we’d break it. Possibly next but if investment could be to replace washing machine, but I could manage it. Otherwise perfect holiday rental in Salcombe. We have been coming to Salcombe every summer for 12 years and just booked 4 Glenthorne for 3rd year running.

  • "The view from the balcony was amazing, the highlight of our stay and worth the visit."

However, the flat is very tired and needs new furniture (especially sofas) and carpets. The bin in the bedroom was full. The kitchen was clean and well stocked but everything else was below expectations of a stay in Salcombe.

  • "On arrival the apartment had not been cleaned, cleaners were sent in for an hour and was not up to safe Covid standards, so was faced with the task of cleaning thoroughly before starting our holiday."

We did receive compensation and our complaint was dealt with efficiently but it doesn’t give back the time involved and disappointment. Apartment was ideal for a walk into Salcombe and had the benefit of a car parking space. The balcony overlooked part of the harbour unfortunately the weather wasn’t good enough to enjoy this facility. No welcome pack was provided. Salcombe is a lovely place to be with independent shops and eating places. Plenty of benches to sit on overlooking the harbour. Not recommended for people with mobility issues due to the hills and narrow pavements.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments. All feedback is greatly appreciated. We were terribly sorry to read that the cleanliness of the apartment upon your arrival was unsatisfactory. We were pleased however, that the housekeeping team were able to assist with rectifying this issue. We do hope that despite this inconvenience, you were able to enjoy Devon and we very much look forward to welcoming you back soon. Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of, Property Owner
