"The cottage was in a great location in the middle of Salcombe so close to all amenities."
The view from the garden is lovely. The house is up quite a steep incline so not suitable for people with limited mobility. The cottage would benefit from a bit of updating such as a new bathroom, also the radiator in the bathroom needs replacing as it doesn't work. The kitchen despite being small is well equipped. The lack of WiFi didn't detract from our stay but is quite unusual. Overall a cosy cottage.

"There were a few minor issues - the radiator in the bathroom did not work & was rusting - (electric) it needs replacing."
The lino on floor before bathroom was damaged propbably from a previous flood from a washing machine - this needs replacing as could be a trip hazard The corner of the bath panel was also damaged. I caught my leg on this when moving from the basin to use the toilet. Not an issue but wanted to mention it. The economy 7 heating looked a bit grubby - perhaps a good clean on these but in good working order. Other than that, we loved the cosyness of the cottage. Its perfect proximity to the town centre, it was well stocked for kitchen utilities, plenty of plates & cups / glasses etc. & would recommend wifi, however we managed to get round that by using phone data. (my son needed internet for job applications on his laptap) . Would definitely stay again, thanks

"On the whole, the cottage was as listed and we had a pleasant stay."
However, the hill was quite a haul up and down especially for those of us in our 80s. Also the trek to the car park was more than we had bargained for. The beds also were not the most comfortable either.

"The listing on hotels."
Com doesn’t mention the property is not accessible by road and states there is "free parking on site". We visited with a 7month old so had a lot of luggage - we would not have booked this cottage had we known prior to booking that we would not be able to access the property by car. It was also not clear that you have to climb a steep hill to get to the property, which again is difficult with a pram/lots of luggage. I suspect this would be near impossible in a wheelchair. The property had not been dusted well. We also found a clump of a previous guests’ hair on the mat by the back door. The mattresses need replacing. The sheets on the bed in the front bedroom were too big so came off every night. The thin white curtains in the bedrooms do not block any light. Some of the kitchen knives are in desperate need of sharpening. There are two loose plug sockets - one back right in the dining room, and one to the left of the door as you enter the main bedroom (this one is extremely loose!). The smaller bedroom has a small amount of peeling wallpaper so needs a bit of glue, I appreciate this feedback sounds very critical, but I think a lot of these points could be resolved very quickly and cheaply/no cost (with exception of the mattresses). I think these issues being resolved would make a significant difference to the quality of a stay. We did appreciate the close proximity to the town which was a big positive. Added extras like a washing machine and blu-ray player were also both positives. The views from the garden were lovely with a good amount of space to relax outside.

"Perfect and quiet location in the old town of Salcombe."
You can see the harbour from the terrace! Nice little cottage with lovely and complete furnishings. Unfortunately the kitchen is damp and there is a musty smell in the cupboards. It is practically impossible to drive to the flat to unload, but a good idea to park on Devon Street near the bus stop and bring the bags to the house via the small garden gate. We were surprised by the small roads in Devon and would have done better to follow the route description. Please add that this is really important. It would be great to provide a matching Google route by link. That would make it much easier to follow.

"Property as described but had issues."
Firstly the stairs are lacking safety bannisters at the bottom the help with the turn at the bottom. There should be one on the left and the facing wall at the bottom. The bottom 4 stairs are not full steps and painted white can be difficult to differentiate one from another. Secondly the water heater thermostat is set too high resulting in scalding water(and waste of energy), so hot that the tap becomes untouchable. Both these issues were reported during the visit to Coast and Country in Salcombe.

"Great location, lovely views from the garden."
Bright and comfortable bedrooms upstairs. Parking permit is a real bonus. However, no Wi-Fi (we assumed is standard these days)

"Perfect property for a wonderful Salcombe holiday."
Everything that you need in the property and the garden has an amazing view of the sea. Double bed so comfortable! Perfect location and I had a wonderful stay.

"Great location close to the centre but off the main street."
Cracking view from the garden!

"Would be great to have got some advice about unloading/loading the car."
It was not clear that you couldn't actually get a car close to the property for loading/unloading....only that you needed to park elsewhere. It was no problem to park at a car park 10mins walk away.....but it was a problem carrying heavy boxes and bags this considerable distance over several journeys to unpack the car. If I had known, I would have planned accordingly, using roller suitcases or large rucksacks etc, or generally not brought as much stuff! Otherwise, the house was lovely, and very convenient for the center of Salcombe.

"We enjoyed this well positioned and well equipped cottage with some estuary views from the back garden."
We found local communication with the agency difficult and tended to talk to people in Chester on the phone! This led to a few problems with misinformation about the cottage. However, everyone we spoke to was helpful and friendly.

"We enjoyed our stay at Aune cottage and the general facilities were fine."
The views over the estuary were superb from the garden and had the weather being a little better we would have used those facilities a bit more than we did.Overall our stay was excellent and we would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage to others.Thankyou
Many thanks for taking the time to leave you lovely feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Aune Cottage. We hope to welcome you back to the area soon. Property Owner

"Location of cottage, good."
Parking a problem so difficult with luggage. Steep staircase in cottage needed two railings. Preferred bathroom on the same floor as bedrooms. Nice balcony and small garden with views overlooking the sea.
-
"The location was fantastic with great views."
The terrace area is great to watch the boats go past whilst having breakfast. The house is situated in a central location yet is quiet as the only access past the house is by foot to neighbouring properties.

"Great location but cottage was pretty dated, would really benefit from updating and was unclean and mouldy in places."
In particular a large number of items in the kitchen were coated in mould and so we had to thoroughly clean the kitchen and contents before we could use it.
Many thanks for your feedback, although we were concerned to read that the property was not satisfactorily presented prior to your arrival. As you will appreciate, we work very hard with our owners and housekeepers to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained, so it is very disappointing to read these comments. Your feedback has been passed on to the housekeeper/cleaner concerned and we will request that the cupboards and equipment, in particular, are given a thorough clean. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. We are also grateful for the comment in respect of the overall appearance of the property and will pass on your feedback to the owners. We do hope that you had an enjoyable holiday in spite of the issues raised and look forward to welcoming you back to Salcombe in the not too distant future. Property Owner

"Positives: A charming, traditional fisherman's cottage in a fantastic location."
Stunning views from the garden and very quiet at night. Lovely, light bedrooms with fresh, clean bed linen on comfortable beds. Areas for improvement: The oven does not have any temperatures on the dial, which made it very difficult when cooking. It would also benefit from a clean as it did produce black smoke when opening the oven door. A new kettle would be advisable and cheap to replace as there was red tape around the cable which was a little dubious. Previous tenants had left poorly washed glasses, cutlery, egg cups with mould on and various food items around the cottage (eg. half eaten biscuit behind the radio). The bathroom would benefit from being updated due to the bath side being broken and mould on the rubber of the shower screen. The drain at the rear of the property was smelling as soon as we arrived so I think this must be a long term problem that needs to be addressed. The garden with lovely views is not suitable for a toddler as there are many concrete steps up to the sloping garden. I feel the agent should make customers aware of this or secure the steps by installing railings and a gate to avoid any child falling down the stairwell.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review of Aune Cottage in Salcombe. We were so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the fantastic location and stunning views from this property. Your feedback in respect of the accommodation is much appreciated, and has been passed on to the owner who will be looking to address the various issues mentioned. We look forward to welcoming you back to Salcombe very soon. Property Owner

"Great location, cosy cottage."
Would have been nice to have a supply of dry firewood for the open fire. Oven too basic and would benefit from a dishwasher.
Many thanks for your feedback regarding your recent stay at Aune Cottage in Salcombe. Thank you also for taking the time to upload the lovely images. Firewood is not generally supplied at the property. We will, of course, feed back your comments to the owner, together with your remarks relating to the provision of a dishwasher. We were so pleased that you loved the great location of this cosy cottage and do hope you choose to return to this area again. Property Owner

"On the whole it was a pleasant cottage- it could do with freshening up in parts, for example the outside patio and outside area."
The negative was the bathroom- quite poor.
