We love to stay here in the centre of Salcombe but still quite above the hustle and bustle and with panoramic views over the harbour

  • "This was our second stay here and we've already booked to come again next year."

Lovely house with great view. The kitchen / lounge is clean, modern, spacious and airy. The amenities are also of a high standard...the large screen TV in lounge was top class for watching Euros football! Having a washing machine, dishwasher, tumble drier and extra fridge in utility room was also great. The main bedroom is super with king size bed and modern furniture offering loads of storage. Bunk bed room and 2nd bedroom lacks storage...maybe put a wardrobe in landing area? Only two slight negatives I'd flag are that the back terrace is a bit of missed opportunity that could be more nicely done out and maintained, as well as the hall, landing and stairs would benefit enormously from a lick of paint and carpet / flooring upgrade.

  • "Fantastic views of the estuary from this spacious, comfortable and well equipped property that made for a really enjoyable and relaxing stay."

Situated in the centre of Salcombe, the property is in a great location and it's a pleasant 10 minute stroll to the car park for which a pass is provided or similarly to find street parking for additional cars.

  • "We at a wonderful stay with our 3 children over 10 in Regatta week, despite appalling weather."

A lovely cottage and such amazing views. Had everything we needed and loved popping 1 minute down the road for pastries in the morning! Very grateful to have the car parking permit although difficult to find a spot at peak times. Car park is a 10 minute walk from the property making it a tricky location for people with young families I think. White goods particularly fridge and tumble dryer could do with updating.

  • "Property was spacious and comfortable."

Fridge ridiculously small but thank you to C&C for bringing us a spare fridge so quickly. Outside area really needs maintenance. For us the outside area is so important and it was scruffy, overgrown and not pleasant to host.

  • "We had a perfect cosy break at the Coxswains Watch."

The views are spectacular from the lounge and master bedroom. Spacious, tastefully decorated and comfortable lounge with huge picture window to sit in and while away the time watching the boats go sailing by - there's always something to see. The kitchen is well equipped and has a nice large dining area perfect for family meals (we made a few as some of the local eateries were closed being out of season 1/11-7/11). There are 3 short flights of stairs to each level but we didn't find that a problem. The 2 king beds were extremely comfortable and waking up to the sunrise was an absolute joy - we were lucky and had dry weather all week. Two showers was a bonus and nice fluffy white towels are provided. We especially appreciated the owners flexibility in allowing us to push our dates forward a few days due to family illness as we really needed the break and we hope to return sometime next year. Thanks again - as hosts ourselves we know how hard it can be to please everyone!

  • "The cleanliness of the apartment was appalling."

We rang Coast and Country and the cleaners returned to clean the table and hoover a bit but the apartment was dirty. The floor in the wet room was filthy, there were towels left in the washing machine, children’s items left under the bunk bed, it was in need of a really good clean. Disappointing especially considering the high levels of Coronavirus currently in the area! We’ve been coming down to Salcombe for the last 7 years and never had a problem but the past couple of times we’ve noticed a real drop in cleanliness standards and it’s really disappointing.

  • "We enjoyed staying at Coxswains Watch, but struggled with the stairs a bit."

Having to load and unload the car on a busy street and then carry cases up three flights of stairs isn’t easy. The view is amazing but we felt we were paying a premium for it.

  • "Excellent accommodation, liked the spacious open plan living/kitchen area with an absolutely wonderful view of the estuary."

The bunk bed set up, with a double bed below the single was a bonus, too, as was the paved seating area at the rear of the property.

  • "The view is the very best from this property and overall, facilities were sufficient and the property was comfortable."

However, it was let down by inadequate cleaning and tired décor. For the price, I would have expected a thorough clean and at the very least, annual décor update and refresh. The key collection was dealt with by unfriendly and indifferent staff who manage the property - the owners would no doubt be disappointed at this poor management service, worst of all was a complete lack of information and direction for leaving the keys, the office was closed and it took several attempts to locate the drop box. Only one parking space is inadequate for a property that sleeps potentially 7 - most visitors will need at least two cars and parking for two. We stayed for two nights but there was no welcome pack, we are a group of six ladies who often go away for a weekend, we often then return to an area at another date with our families so it is short sighted of the management company to not bother to give us a welcome pack - some milk would have been welcome at the very least! The outside space was a complete let down, poorly maintained and insufficient chairs, also in need of a good clean. Overall disappointing, not worth the money.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Coxswains Watch. My apologies that you feel the cleaning was not up to standard on arrival, if this had been reported on arrival to the property, we would have been able to send a cleaner to rectify these issues. In regards to your comments about the key collection I apologise you did not receive the welcome we want all of our guests to experience, this has been relayed to all of the staff the importance of directions to the property and key drops on departure. Most properties do not supply welcome packs due to allergies, special requirements and delayed arrivals however we will pass this onto the managed services team. We would like to thank you again for taking the time to review the property and hope to welcome you back to Salcombe again soon. Property Owner

  • "Excellent location - although extremely difficult to park to unload and load baggage which was not made clear - well equipped apartment."

However, entrance and hallway could do with sprucing and it's daunting to be confronted with someone else's rubbish on the doorstep. Also, it was not made clear that the wet room was 3 flights of stairs below the bedrooms. But we had a good holiday.
