"Had a great week at Harbourfields ."
Property just as described making it a great base. Short walk into Salcombe so no car needed to get into town. Great base for exploring surrounding area and also enjoyed using the table tennis table!

"We had a lovely relaxing holiday."
We are fitter now due to the walk uphill from the town! We enjoyed eating in town, The Crab Shed was great. We swam in the outdoor swimming pool. One of the main reasons why I booked Harbourfield was the fact that it has an Aga, but it wasn't switched on and we had to use the alternative electric cooker. I was disappointed. If the Aga is going to be off, because it's summer, and too hot in the kitchen then the information on the internet should say. I was pleased that I had brought food from home as advised by Waitrose Weekend newspaper as the 2 food shops, Co-op and Spar in Salcombe are limited.
I am very sorry that you were disappointed not to have the Aga but the property details do clearly state that this is "only operational outside summer months", as has always been the case. However I am really glad that you enjoyed the house otherwise, and have given full marks for cleanliness and comfort. As far as food shopping is concerned, as well as the butchers, fish shop, bakery and delis in Salcombe there are two excellent supermarkets in Kingsbridge (15 min drive)- Tesco and Morrisons, as well as an award winning fishmongers. It is great to hear you had such a lovely holiday. Property Owner

"We had a lovely stay at Harbourfield, it's in a brilliant location - just a short walk from the centre of Salcombe."
The accommodation was as described and worked well for two families. The parking is quite tight, fine for our small car but might be tricky with a big car! All in all, a great stay, would recommend.

"The house worked well for us, as 4 single ladies on a week away, each with our own bedroom space."
The house is comfortable, clean and well equipped and well located in Salcombe, though a walk uphill from the town centre/harbour! I offered to cook us a roast chicken on the Sunday as restaurants busy, (book well in advance for evenings but lunchtimes easier to book once there) and found the oven very slow to heat up with just the fan but got there in the end with addition of top and bottom heating! The property has been let since 2004 it seems from visitors book and maybe the oven needs a professional clean?! It was great to have the parking for our 2 small cars. The outside deck areas were nice. We were lucky with the weather. I know Salcombe well and my friends enjoyed it all, the coastal walking, the beach, the ferries, the shops and restaurants in the town and areas around.

"Property not v clean ( women’s shaver left in shower, and I cleaned the kitchen floor which was filthy) Couldn’t get the en-suite shower to work."
Bed in back room ( en suite room) v uncomfortable. No sharp knives in kitchen and matches for BBQ ( not a problem as we got matches) but still… Lots of books and leaflets but all were very old… ( leaflets dated back to 2016) could be more up to date. The property listing did state only a washing machine so no dryer, but for a property with 8 beds near a beach, with low evening temps, beach towels didn’t dry off. Really felt this property would benefit from a dryer! Great table tennis in the garage. Beautiful pictures and sea/ beach themed art. Overall we had a wonderful holiday and my comments are 1st world problems- granted. I don’t like moaning but for a property costing £2063.00, I would have thought these issues would be addressed and facilities provided! We have booked next year for another property so fingers crossed.
I am extremely sorry that the house was not properly cleaned for your arrival. Our usual cleaner is excellent but unfortunately she was away and clearly her temporary replacement did a poor job, which is quite unacceptable. It was a shame though that you did not take up Coast and Country"s offer of further cleaning. I am very puzzled that you did not mention the issue with the ensuite shower to Coast and Country -as nothing was known about it until reading your review. This was a simple power outage and was easily rectified, and I am sorry you did not have the benefit of this shower during your stay as it"s a very good one. I will check the mattress in the back bedroom when I am down shortly. Likewise the knives although I didn't notice any problem with these when I was down a few weeks ago. We do usually keep matches in an upper cupboard for safety reasons but maybe they had gone walkabout. I am glad you had a lovely holiday and enjoyed the table tennis and the pictures in the house. "A lovely property and an emergency booking on arrival at Salcombe as the one we had booked was on fire!"
Would liked to have been opera few more windows but couldn’t find window lock keys. We watered pot plants that were dried out. Everyone should be asked to. We would love to return. Beautifully quiet and view to Btson creek

"The house was lovely and fantastic views."
Well equipped and extremely spacious. The top deck was a suntrap and the views from here were amazing. Car parking was good and the table tennis was a huge hit with the grown up kids! Huge selection of dvds and board games if the weather was miserable. Lots of local information is available with plenty of menus for sandwich shops and a great pizza take away. The mattress in the bedroom with the ensuite was quite lumpy and not very supportive and despite not being able to check in till 4pm-due to policy and cleaning, there was lots of cobwebs in the house, there was food splatters on the kitchen units and walls and very dusty louver wardrobe doors in the ensuite bedroom-along with large hanging cobwebs that were hanging out of the fireplace. After abit of cleaning it was sorted and despite this our holiday was fabulous. The house is on a steep hill and there is a bus station on the corner of the street just below the house. Salcombe is a very tranquil place

"Downstairs toilet does not flush easily."
Otherwise very happy with the property

"A nice property, plenty of character, convenient and in good condition, having recently been redecorated and re-carpeted."
Thank you so much for this lovely feedback and we are delighted to see that you found the house so comfortable that you have booked to return this July for two weeks. Property Owner

"A fabulous house for a family Christmas."
Comfortable and ideal for the grandchildren who loved the table tennis table and, whilst the Aga guaranteed the house was rather warm in the unseasonal weather, it provided a great way to cook the Christmas feast and then enjoy the hilly terrain of Salcombe.

"Nice property in a good position but in need of a few updates and upgrades in places"
Many thanks for your feedback. The Owners have advised us that there are some improvement works scheduled at Harbourfield over the winter months - the two main bedrooms are currently being re-decorated, there will be new carpeting throughout and the downstairs cloakroom will be re-fitted. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope we can welcome you back soon. Property Owner

"The house was very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
One night with extremely noisy guests next door all night but understand this is completely beyond Sykes control. Thank you for a lovely holiday!
-
"Really positive booking experience with incredibly helpful staff."
Overall, it was a lovely house, large and comfortable, in a good position close to all amenities in town and beyond. Having a parking space was brilliant and the key safe check in hassle-free. The outside space was small but perfectly adequate for a small group. The upper terrace had lovely views and was a really relaxing outside space (you should include a picture in the listing as this was a huge selling point). The outside planting was particularly appreciated – beautiful flowers. There were just a few things that let the house down. We were told it had been extensively redecorated in the last few months but saw no evidence of this, everything looked a bit tired. The kitchen was well equipped which is rare to find but so much stuff that there was little/no cupboard space for food and some of the equipment could do with replacing eg blunt knives and chipped glasses. The house would benefit from the removal of some of the nik naks which made it feel very cluttered. The main bedroom ideally needs darker curtains and the bed was squeaky when you moved. At least one of the hand soaps had been watered down and there was a horrible smell of oil coming from the aga. It was a great house and well equipped but could just do with some more love and care to encourage us to come back given the price we paid.

"We had a lovely holiday again but wouldn’t choose this property again."
The house next door appears to attract party guests who were extremely noisy every evening keeping us and our children awake. The children’s bedroom on the top floor was well equipped but the mattresses have definitely seen better days and my children complained they weren’t comfortable and that there were springs poking out of one. The ensuite bathroom is tired and scruffy and there were cobwebs everywhere. We did like the little raised deck and were impressed by the rapid response when we rang the office to switch the aga off (it was extremely hot with it on) We’ve had 10 or so holidays in salcombe mostly with your company. We’ll definitely return again and use coast and country but wouldn’t pick harbourfield as paying the best part of £2k for a week we would expect something better quality really.
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Harbourfield. We have passed your comments on to the Owners - Redecoration works are already planned for this Autumn, and they will assess the mattresses in the childrens room (one has already been replaced). We were sorry that you found the neighbours noisy, this is extremely unfortunate as in 16 years there has never been a noise complaint at Harbourfield, and further to this the guests staying the week previous to you, have re-booked Harbourfield again for July 2021. Despite these issues we hope you had a great time, and we look forward to welcoming you to the area again soon. Property Owner

"Absolutely fab house!"
-
"Would recommend it to friends."
- No recycling facilities. - No towels provided. Both disappointing for the cost of the property. More information about the local area would have been useful, including explaining how steep the hill is to the shops (this was too steep and far for my father to walk) and a map of the local area would have been handy. Otherwise the accomodation was lovely and well equipt. Lovely to have an AGA. Key collection was straightforward and everything was as expected in the property. Don't understand why there was a 5 adult limit as 6 plus two kids would have easily fitted.
Thank you for your feedback in regards to your recent stay at Harbourfield, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Apologies that you were not made aware of how steep the hill is in places, and thank you for bringing this to our attention so that we can update our description to include this. Unfortunately recycling facilities at commercial properties are currently governed by the local council and is out of the owners control, however we hope this will change in the future. In the meantime, we will continue to provide information inside the property regarding local recycling stations and the local area. Not all of our properties provide towels, however we do apologise if this wasn't made clear before booking. This property has a maximum of 5 adults to ensure high levels of comfort are maintained. We hope you enjoyed what Salcombe has to offer and we hope to welcome you back again soon. Property Owner
