  • "Great location and off-road parking absolute bonus."

Only a couple of things.... Two of our party have mobility problems but coped OK with the external steps and internal stairs but you might to want to alert future hirers to the number and steepness? Also, apologies for not contacting you at the time but the shower tray in the top floor bathroom fills up very rapidly and does not seem to drain away quickly enough. Might warrant checking this out. Otherwise the house was very nice indeed.

  • "Yardarm is a great house for holidaying with teenagers."

They can have the ground floor for sleeping and parents can be on the second floor with kitchen living area on the first. The fourth bedroom is not suitable for adults or teenagers (unless petite). Beds are small. Would be great for small children. The kitchen is pretty well equipped. The third bathroom is also the utility. The shower in this room needs some attention! The outside area needs a bit of TLC. Note to all EV owners. There is not an EV charger which was a big blow as we’d banked on using this having paid for it. There is a three pin plug in the garage so if you have a charger cable like this then bring it! I hope I’ll be reimbursed the £30 I paid. Still waiting for this! Parking in garage is a big bonus especially in the summer months I imagine. All in all we had a lovely holiday and would return.

  • "Another holiday enjoyed at Yardarm and we've already booked for next year."

Nice welcoming box when we arrived which was welcome for our first cup of tea. Did love the fact the mattress on the top double bed had been changed and it was so comfortable. Loving the water pressure you get in all the showers and the mended shower door in the utility room was well received by sons, who used it last year. Cooked more times this year and the kitchen has everything and good quality pans, which always helps. Great location and the estuary view from the lounge. We used the little sundeck on the top steps as well one afternoon with a gin and tonic, which was lovely to relax at the end of a busy day on the beach! The seagulls were on good form each morning from 5am, so got used to that as well as the nearby old ladies dog, yapping most mornings at any passing people, so went with the flow and didn't ruin any of the stay. Love holidays here and so do all our family now!

  • "The property met our needs but as a whole it feels a little bit unloved."

There was a bulb out, the shower screens could do with replacing and the dishwasher is temperamental. We did inform Coast and Country regarding the dishwasher and they were very quick to send someone to look at it and arrange an engineer. However I think it is just past its best. There was plenty of kitchenware and the beds were comfortable.

  • "The property was very nice, it had everything we needed and the parking space is definitely a bonus."

Sad to say the mattress in the master bedroom has been well used and was really uncomfortable, the pillows throughout also need replacing. We would happily return to this property if we could have a comfortable night's sleep. We did experience a maintenance callout when the fridge freezer was replaced. Which was fine, everyone was very friendly and these things have to be done. However, an installation issue meant that they had to return on another occasion, so we asked if this could be done on changeover day, but despite our request they turned up again during our stay which we thought could have been avoided, luckily it was a short visit.

  • "Perfect location and more space in the house than had expected."

Garage space and drive brilliant - we had a kayak and wheels for it, so was perfect for storage in between use. Kitchen well equipped and cooked two meals for 7 of us, so that was ideal. The dishwasher was a bit hit and miss on working, and looked like the 'start' button was not functioning. We added salt and rinse aid and ran once to see if would clear and work ok. It did once, but then not again. The large sink helped and we were happy to wash up anyway. Outdoor patio areas just right and good use of the space, with always a place to catch the sun and have a quiet drink out of the house. The bedrooms were nice and big enough for needs with plenty of storage options for clothing. The master bedroom on the top floor was great with superb views - the only downside was a very uncomfortable mattress and think it actually is well past its best. I've stayed in all sorts of properties and hotels and you can learn to sleep on most things (ie. I am not a real fuss pot), but this one was so saggy and dropped at the sides - we were nearly falling out at times. We had issue with the utility room shower screens, which Coast/Country were already aware of. A prompt visit from the maintenance team confirmed, that the screens were not going to be repairable. We used with limited time to stop water spread in that room. It also looks like the similar shower screen on the top floor bathroom is going the same way, with a gap now on the door edge when shut. I moved the shower head nozzle at a backward angle to help stop any water spread beyond the screen. Everything else with bathrooms really good and decent water pressure given the use we had at times and spread of floors. Overall, we found it the right balance of a very convenient place to stay (with one hill and flight of steps to cope with), with all the main things you need for a family stay. We would definitely use again as it ticks so many boxes for us. Thank you

Beds and sofas could be more comfortable. Heating could have been turned on prior to arrival - no radiator in lower twin room. Smart tv would have been a bonus. Excellent layout and generally clean and tidy - some cutlery / dinnerware could have been cleaner. Overall good facilities and utensils/appliances provided. Brilliant prompt response to a leak issue! We were looking forward to a repeat booking for the same week in 2020, but due to your change in booking systems the occupants of the previous week have booked the week we have booked for the last 4 years. • "A lovely spot to stay in Salcombe."

We had two families with toddlers (although if not safe on stairs you will need 4 stair gates) and it worked really well, nice a light airy space and estuary glimpses. Park with swings and slides were a very short walk away and the town centre was very close. Having parking was really helpful. We parked two cars no problem. You could get 4 in but would be a real squeeze. There were a few things that could be improved. Taps seemed to work in a order or priority from basement working up the house. i.e. if someone was having a shower downstairs none of the hot water taps above worked including the kitchen and upstairs en-suit. Not great if you have 8 people wanting to shower in the morning. All of the dishes and cutlery in the house were dirty on arrival plus pots and pans were all greasy. After using the dishwasher we found out why. The dish washer left a film of dirt and grease on everything (tried running it empty on a few cycles but no help) we ended up using it as a drying rack. Also the kick board under the dishwasher kept on catching when you opened the dishwasher - this needs reattaching. The windows could have been cleaned better on the inside - a lot of smears, especially at toddler height. On arrival towels had been forgotten and one of the radiators were leaking. C&CC very quickly arrived to provide towels and stop the leak.

  • "The Yardarm is a lovely property in an ideal location with the added bonus of off street parking."

The house had everything that our party of six needed. A few negatives considering the cost of renting this property. Although it was clean on first inspection once we had been there a few days we noticed that not all the crockery and cutlery was as clean as we would have liked nothing too gross but some knives and forks had crusty food on. The cups at the back of the cupboards had coffee smears on. The windows were dirty and had seagulls poo on. I know they go to the loo all the time in Salcombe but it wouldn't hurt to clean the windows ready for the new residents it would create a better impression. The outdoor space/patio area near the bedrooms was filthy, a good sweep wouldn't go a miss also the patio furniture was old and faded well past its replacement date. And the two downstairs bathrooms were getting to look very tired with cracking paint and rusty fittings i realise that having bathrooms without windows and just extractor fans does create damp but periodicall maintenance would solve this. Taking these minor niggles into consideration we had a lovely time in Salcombe and the sun shone for us.

Many thanks for taking the time to supply us with your feedback following this recent holiday. We were sorry to read that the property was not satisfactorily presented/cleaned prior to your arrival. We have already reported the cleanliness issues to the cleaner and arranged for the outside areas to be cleaned. Despite our best efforts it is very difficult to ensure that outside areas remain unaffected by seagull mess and we do try to ensure these areas are cleaned frequently. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. We will also contact the owners to establish whether they would be happy to replace the patio furniture and our property services team will investigate the downstairs bathrooms. On a brighter note, we were glad to hear you had a lovely holiday and that the sun shone. We hope to welcome you back to Salcombe very soon. Property Owner

  • "Great house, and a lovely location for kids as it is just opposite the park."

We dedicated the whole ground floor to the children as it had a family bathroom with a bath and two decent size bedrooms and a utility room which worked really well. We hired a cot, baby monitor and high chair, but didnt hire any stair gates which we should have done in hindsight as the kitchen is on the first floor and has two staircases going off it which is just so much temptation for toddlers, it was impossible to leave them unattended even to pop to the loo for fear of them falling down stairs. Other than that is was great as long as you are strong enough to push the buggy up the hill from the centre of town. It is only a few minutes pain! and means you can justify the daily ice creams! It was well equipped with everything a family would need, nice bathrooms with good showers and a perfectly functioning kitchen. It says it sleeps eight, which is could do, but it would be a bit of a squeeze.
