Tucked behind the Ness Headland, where the estuary meets the sea, you’ll find Shaldon’s very own zoo and a smuggler's tunnel, which leads down to a secret beach.
The pedestrian ferry leaves from Shaldon and runs throughout the day and early evening, so you can enjoy venturing over to the bustling regency seaside town and port of Teignmouth, which also offers a mainline railway station.
Further afield, the delights of Torbay are within easy reach or if you fancy heading for the hills, Dartmoor National Park is around a half an hour's drive, as is the fascinating city of Exeter.
