  • "The property is very well appointed with high end kitchen appliances and bathroom showers."

The beds super comfortable with nice clean bed linen and towels. The property is very dark on the ground floor but with a massive bedroom Unfortunately despite the address as The Beach there are no views of the beach, just an ugly car park or building site. This should be emphasised more and the price reflective as you would with a hotel asking for a sea view. We did not receive a welcome pack other than 4 tea bags. We were offered milk but we had already brought that with us. You have to take all kitchen cleaning materials with you there are no basics at all such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid etc and toilet rolls. Whilst this is not a massive problem there are no local shops to purchase anything urgent even bread and milk so be prepared. The recycling bins on two visits were overflowing so we took rubbish out with us. The seating arrangement in the lounge is very small for four adults and storage in bedroom 2 very small. The property is fine for two adults and may be one child. The property was clean but but not deep cleaned especially in the kitchen area. The freezer is tiny and has no ice cube tray. The wi fi was shocking especially in the evenings, so streaming a film impossible. You can walk to a shingle beach in 3-4 mins which was lovely and a couple of take away/restaurants. We left a few maps and ideas of things to do and visit. This could definitely be improved along with suggestions of where to eat. Mill Bay beach is stunning, not an easy drive but worth it and National Trust Greenway and Overbeck worth the effort of getting there. Overall we felt disappointed with the location and properly should have researched better before making our booking.

  • "It would be nice to have a microwave and a pair of scissors in the building."

Other than that a great place to stay. We loved the village so much we have booked again for next year. The LED lights were a big hit with the kids. The staff at the local Billy Can Cafe were very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

  • "Its a very comfortable modern flat ideally situated close to the beach front."

The kitchen amenities were great and sparkling clean. Each room has smart TVs and the main TV has a PS3 - these added extras are great for the kids if weather is not good. And DONT worry about the size of the garage you park in, we had a range rover and it fit easily. The only down side is no outdoor space, it would have been so nice to be able to sit outside during the stay at the premises.

  • "The barn is in a great location for Salcombe Dartmoor and the beach, with lovely walk to Start Point and Slapton Sands."

The Barn is well equipped and has hi spec appliances, the bedrooms are lovely with luxury bed linen, the only consideration would be to replace the settee or add another chair to comfortably seat 4.

  • "Our stay at The Barn was a really good experience."

The property was immaculate and comfortable with very high spec kitchen appliances. There was nothing that you could have wanted that was not already there. Beds were very comfortable. The only problem we had was when we arrived we could not access the WFI but a short phone call to the owner soon rectified the situation. I would suggest the new information be put into the information book.

  • "No outside space."

Beach chairs to take to the seaside could have made our time much more enjoyable. Kitchen equipment inventory needs to be done ( incomplete set of knives, no beer glasses, no XL pot to cook pasta). However kitchen is lovely. Bedding was comfortable, towels were good, but there was not one extra towel in the case of spills or accidents. Lounge seating was difficult for four adults to watch tv. Washing machine needed simple instructions besides the user manual. Bedrooms were dark, but comfortable. The map location on the listing is inaccurate. The pin on the map indicates that you are about 4 cottages up the spit whereas you are actually not on the spit at all; rather you are off A379 between Bumble Cottage and 'Yoga Field & sea' on Tor Church Road. See google maps. As a result, you do not have a water view but rather a parking lot and building view. We would not have booked here had we known this. Regarding maintenance, the Barn at the Beach was extremely clean and comfortable. But since there were no beer glasses, I emailed twice to request some and never got a response. However I did receive prompt attention to the broken key issue. Many walking paths nearby as well as an excellent pub and farm shop and pub. We enjoyed our time but if you want attached outdoor space or a sea view, this is not the cottage for you. The area was gorgeous with lots do within an hours drive.

  • "The area is lovely."

Close to the beach, great pub and the farm shop was fab. The barn itself is lovely. Very high end appliances, fixtures and fittings, especially the kitchen. Everything you could want for and more ! However, if you’re not familiar with induction hobs these can be quite tricky to use as were the ovens. Some written clear instructions would be useful. Internally quite clean but could do with a bit extra to remove cobwebs etc. Outside looks a bit shabby. Could do with a wash down. Very comfortable beds. Beautiful bath. The main downside to this property is the fact that there is a building site to the rear. This was very frustrating as we were hoping to get a few days peace and quiet. Very noisy from 8am and on one particular day, the day after we arrived, a bonfire. We therefore couldn’t open the windows and kept the blinds closed just to block out the view. The main bedroom on the ground floor had very little natural light, not helped by the fact that the builders had put a large storage container right outside the bedroom window. Albeit a small window it did block out the light.

  • "This property is very well equipped with a high standard of features."

The fans in particular were welcome in all the rooms as the weather was quite hot. There was a lovely welcome pack from the owners when we arrived, and the place was spotless and comfortable with good quality beds. We'd definitely recommend this to anyone. Torcross beach is expansive, excellent for swimming in particular, and is only 5 minutes walk from the Barn. The village is friendly with a pub and takeaways to be enjoyed on the beach as well as a gift / sweet shop and fascinating war memorial and backstory. The only drawback to the village itself is that there is no general store, though there is an extremely good farm shop nearby on the road to Kingsbridge.

Very comfortable beds. You have no outside space but you are literally a minutes walk from the beach, which is where we spent our evenings. Absolutely loved our stay in Torcross. A sleepy English village, never overcrowded, one pub and one farm shop for your essentials.

  • "We had a fantastic week at this beautiful holiday home!"

It was spotless and very comfortable and finished to a beautiful standard. In particular the kitchen was exceptionally well equipped with high quality appliances and utensils - by far the best of any holiday let I have been to. We found the beds very comfortable and everything was of very good quality. We had no issues with the Wifi (although the details were different to those in the info guide - we used directly from the router). There is no outside space or particularly views but the property is so close to the seafront that we didn't really miss this - the location is great, within minutes' walk of a couple of cafes/pub and well located for exploring the South Hams area.

The view from the Barn was not good either way from the front of the back that didn't tell you in the details. There wasn't a bread knife and the tin opener was broken. There were no tea towels so it was a good job l took my own. Also there was no tin foil and l had to go and buy it . We expected to continue our business to some extent, however we tried numerous times to connect the wi fi but with no success. We couldnt operate Sonos speakers or access Netflix etc as this required a wi fi connection. There was no numbered rubbish bins as stated. • "Spacious, clean, modern, comfortable."

The kitchen/living room is great, incredibly well-equipped kitchen. We loved it! Quiet and isolated - so take food and basics with you since there aren’t a large number of options to buy anything locally. Also no view to speak of - car park to the front and abandoned yard to the back. The beach and sands are 2 minutes walk - but not visible from the property. But if you want comfort, peace and quiet and à base from which to explore the coast - this is the one for you.
