"Down stairs bedroom smells of dampness"
Thank you for your feedback on your stay at Galvayne. In response to your comment, the owner is taking pro active steps to ensure the house is getting properly ventilated in this lovely sunshine we are having. We look forward to seeing you again soon on your next stay in Dartmouth. Property Owner

"Loved your home it was a wrench to leave."
Very tastefully done. Views are fantastic if I ever won the lottery this is the sort of home I would have, great location
-
"Unfortunately there was an unpleasant damp smell in the downstairs bedroom that lingered all week."
The building work around the area was rather noisy during the day but the position and layout of the property was fabulous. The parking is definitely a bonus.
-
"Perfect location."
Beautiful property, very comfortable and well equipped. We love it.

"Really beautiful place to stay"
-
"Fantastic views and superbly equipped property."
Lovely location with just a short, and scenic, walk into either the centre of Dartmouth or out into the countryside for superb coastal walks. Parking is a bit of a challenge but doesn’t take away from this great property. A lovely week’s stay that we wish we’d booked for longer.

"We loved everything about Galvayne and found it the perfect place to stay for the two of us."
The property on arrival was beautifully clean, everything as per the website photos, beautifully presented in all respects. The views were both exceptional and mesmerising. Having onsite parking was a huge benefit. Thank you for the welcome bottle of Sharpham wine which was delicious, so much so, we purchased several bottles from the very excellent Dartmouth Wines, along with others we discovered whilst dining out during our stay, so a good advertisement for the wine! A couple of small things: The little welcome box of treats included a small bag of Haribos, 3 tea bags and 3 coffee sticks/sugar sticks which felt a little half hearted. It would be useful to provide 2 extra black bin liners (only 1 spare provided) since it is a double bin in the kitchen area. We realise its self catering and always come prepared, but an extra bin liner would not go amiss. We put all our wine bottles in with the general paper recycling and hope this was ok for the contractors, we did notice that the property outside refuse bin had a number of glass beer bottles in it already, presumably left by a prior visitor.

"Wow this place is absolutely fantastic."
It was our second stay at galvayne and the views, property and location are still as perfect as our first stay. This property is a real gem for a relaxing break.
-
"This was our second visit to Galvayne."
It is a modern, excellent standard two bed, two en suite house with great views over and across the river, easily walkable access into the town and parking for a vehicle. We had no issues whatsoever, loved the experience and would recommend it to anyone.

"3rd time we've stayed, which i hope says it all"
-
"Stunning home with the most incredible view!"
! This property isn't good for those with mobility problems (lots of steps) but the elevated position gives beautiful views across the river to Kingswear. Everything was high standard, very clean and the beds were super comfy. The kitchen is well equipped but if you didn't want to cook, there are many restaurants and cafes around 10-15 mins walk. So much to do in this part of Devon, we can't wait to return!

"What a lovely property, felt like home from home!"
The house was comfortable and clean with everything you could need. Spectacular views over the Dart estuary. Great to have 2 parking places too. So much to see and do in the area, a week wasn’t long enough.

"Well the view is outstanding, possibly the best view we have had since renting holiday property in the UK."
The accommodation is pricey, but we think the view was well worth it. Watching the boats cruise up and down all day long from the balcony is what the holiday was all about. Easy access walking into Dartmouth too, and many pubs and restaurants to choose from. More than enough space for a small family although the lower staircase is quite steep so is probably less suited to the very young or elderly. Everything was clean and tidy and the small welcome packs on arrival were great to see. It is mentioned on the advert and has been mentioned by previous occupants, but the building noise can be intrusive and especially when it starts early in the morning. The wifi also cuts out regularly and then can be a few minutes before it gets back up and running again. The biggest let down though is the parking. There are confident comments on the advert that you can relax with the parking offered. However, for a large car you will have only mm to spare driving down to the garaging area. You will also be met by a sign saying reverse in, and turning round is quite a challenge. If you have a small or medium car you have half a chance. There is room for two small to medium cars to park but once our car was in the garage there was literally only space for a smart car behind it, certainly not suitable for two large cars. On occasion there was a van parked in the turn round area, meaning there was just enough space to drive in let alone turn around. Part way through the holiday bags of building materials were left at the back of the garage meaning it would have been impossible to park two cars. We felt that the advert didn’t adequately describe the parking situation. If you have a long car I would think twice about this venue. That being said the view was just about enough to calm me down after the parking issues each day. Also worth noting that someone had left an ipad behind which seemed a bit random.
Thank you so much for your feedback and I am very pleased that you enjoyed the house and the views. I am very sorry about the parking but I understand the two spaces are now available. The building materials are to build a viewing deck for Galvayne customers which give you panoramic views over the estuary. This will be ready by 2024 so I do hope you will be back to enjoy the new addition. Property Owner

"Galvayne was a wonderful place to stay in Dartmouth - peaceful and relaxing with the excellent pubs and restaurants of Dartmouth only a 15 minute walk away."
The views across the estuary to Kingswear were particularly lovely. It was very relaxing to watch the boats going up and down the estuary form the first floor balcony. The house is extremely well equipped and comfortable.

"Booked for next year."
Need I say more?

"Whilst an expensive property to book, it's excellent value for money."
The most comfortable rental I've ever experienced. The presentation on arrival was second to none, and the fittings, furnishings and equipment far exceeded what we have normally experienced. We've had a brilliant break in a stunning location. Thank You.

"Beautiful property would highly recommend, have already booked for next year"
-
"The property was even better than its description."
Comfortable, fabulous views from all main rooms, easily accessible to the town and, as it was mid winter, warm without needing to turn the heating to full heat or leave it on anything other than twice daily. There was also a thoughtful welcome pack that was much appreciated. We particularly offer our thanks and praise to the staff of the Dartmouth Coast and Country branch who very quickly and efficiently sorted out our initial problems and ensured that the property operated smoothly for our holiday.
-
"Very nice accommodation, well appointed with lovely views."
Staff quick to respond to any issues. The house was quite cold on arrival as all radiators were turned off at the valve. There were also no instructions about how to operate or override the heating. Downstairs bathroom had a slight drain smell. The entrance road is quite uneven and dark at night. A torch is essential here.
-
"Galvayne is a wonderful place to stay if you like Dartmouth."
The views from all 3 floors are fantastic, even when it is raining. The facilities are top notch! The parking spaces are an added bonus, but the access road leading up to this is very tight in parts. The stairs to the lower floor are steep, so not suitable for anyone with lack of mobility. There is construction work nearby, so be prepared to be woken early and listen to building noise 7.30-4.4.30 (the reason for a star deduction). Will most definitely visit again!
-
"A fantastic holiday property."
Great position and spectacular views. Will book again.
-
"We had a fantastic time."
Views to die for. Accommodation was well stocked. We definitely will be re-booking
-
"Property was well stocked as described."
Excellent position to the town itself which was less than half a mile walk. Only down sides (although not an issue if you like to be up and out early) is that the top floor room did not have curtains in 2 of the windows (bring eye patches) and there is building work going on on the road below the house. The workers are on site from 7:20am and are very noisy. Other than that we had a very enjoyable stay and would love to stay again.
-
"Galvayne is really lovely and the communications from Sykes prior to check in were efficient and clear."
We have only given three stars as the building works which were indicated were so loud that it was impossible to watch I player, listen to music or read comfortably. As the purpose of our holiday was to rest and relax in the property this was quite a disappointment. We would certainly come back to Galvayne but not while the works below continue.
-
"We stayed at Galvayne earlier this year, we really like the property hence booking again for July."
In March building works were underway below Galvayne and didn’t interfere with our enjoyment of the property. So we didn’t have any concerns in rebooking and could understand why building works in the area was point 6 out of 7. However this time the building work was extremely noisy from heavy machinery digging up concrete and the few occasions this went silent a very large circular saw was used, this from about 7:30 to 4:30 each weekday, having what amounts to a major construction site does not equate to building works in the area. I recorded the noise but know nothing would be done as Sykes will feel they are covered, when we checked out I spoke to the staff when I took the key back, they apologised profusely, I offered to play an example of the noise level and was told not necessary but that they would let the owner know and I would hear back. Needless to say that hasn’t happened being as I suspected something to say to get me on my way. So in summary we still think Galvayne itself is great but the surrounding noise isn’t, we may have been unlucky but I don’t think it’s been handled well or as advised by the key holding office.

"A lovely property, comfortable and fantastic views."
We would highly recommend.
-
"An absolutely superb property - in a brilliant location with a spectacular view of the river, incredibly well equipped and as comfortable as a home possibly could be."
Leaving at the end was a real struggle!
-
"This is a truly wonderful house with views to die for."
Everything has been done with great taste and to a very high standard. We loved having breakfast and evening cocktails on the balcony just watching the boats sail by. Dartmouth is a lovely town with lots of good places to eat and drink and nice independant shops. Highly recommended!
-
"We have stayed in plenty of Dartmouth properties but Galvayne is the best so far!"
-
"I have stayed in many holiday lets over the years, but this property has to be one of the very best that I have ever stayed in."
Stunningly beautiful. The owners have thought of every detail. Not only is the house fabulous but when you walk in you are met with stunning views over the River Dart from all levels. Lovely touch as well with a welcome pack and a bottle of wine. Dartmouth is a 5 minute walk from property. Cannot rate this property high enough.
-
"Simply fabulous, and very comfortable."
Everything you could wish for, with the most stunning views from each floor, you did not want to leave. Parking a great bonus for the area - beware that access road/s narrow. Would very highly recommend - thank you.
-
"The house is even better than the pictures and description."
The location and views are superb and we loved seeing and hearing wildlife such as Tawny Owls and Cormorants. Everything was clean and still looking brand new. The bathrooms and kitchen facilities were excellent. It was lovely having the speakers and wifi sound, the only small improvement is to include instructions that make it clear up front that the ipad is for controlling the music. There was prior notice about the builders opposite, but the main issue was the noise from them 'preparing for work' before 8am. We would love to return one day. A great find in a lovely spot.
-
"Fabulous place--modern, spacious, light-filled, contemporary, on a quiet private drive, wonderful views-will return."
Happy for you to publish the above, but not as below. Please advise owners: -We always had trouble unlocking the front door, from outside & inside. -One ring of the tall curtain in second bedroom was off the pole-we couldnt reach it to rectify but needs doing asap. -Small fence panel river side has fallen over Everything else, perfect thanks.
-
"Lovely place, beautifully kept."
-
"Maybe a grab rail in top bathroom would be helpful."
-
"Everything about our stay at Galvayne was perfect."
Unfortunately we had some issues near the end of our week with the WiFi which meant many of the smart facilities mentioned in the description couldn't be used.
