  • "We had a lovely time, the cottage is spacious and comfortable and I loved the reclining armchairs and sofa."

It's very peaceful with lovely views out the back. It's rural, surrounded by single track roads, as you would expect, but still only 20 minutes from Tesco's in Barnstaple so you get the best of both worlds. Alison was just next door if you needed anything, which was handy. Just a couple of small things - the weather was cooler and quite wet - a tumble drier would have been handy as it was a struggle to dry our washing and it was a bit chilly in the downstairs loo first thing as the heater wasn't working, though I'm sure it'll be fixed soon.

  • "Beautiful cottage in an idyllic location!"

Has all the necessary facilities for a family holiday. The garden is so spacious and it was lovely to sit and while away the hours whilst also observing the cows in the next field! It was wonderful to have the owners on site (all very friendly including Gemma the dog and Bongo the cat) and the welcome gift of a cream tea was very much appreciated! Will not hesitate to return in the future!

  • "Had a fantastic week at Dassel Cottage."

Allison, Simon and family was excellent hosts. Very friendly and helpful. Thank you for the cream tea and eggs Allison, very much appreciated. The cottage was very comfortable and homely and the garden was lovely. Was great to have the enclosed fields for our pup Peanut to run around. Was disappointed that the garden was not enclosed as Peanut had to stay on the lead the whole time but he still enjoyed it. We purchased a ground hook and line from pet shop allowing Peanut to have full run of the garden. Alison did inform the agents that it was not enclosed and the listing has now been rectified .Will definitely be back. Peanut is missing Gemma the Labrador!

What a great location so peaceful and relaxing, really had a great time slept really well. Loved the cats and the labourer. The views from the cottage were amazing. Barnstable is a great place to visit plenty of shops. We did manage to get a few walks in while we were there. Definitely would recommend staying here and looking forward to returning in the future.

  • "We had a good few days at Dassel cottage."

Allison left a tasty cream tea for. The beds, lounge & kitchen was super comfy. Real home comfort. Allison is a lovely friendly down to earth lady. Chatting to her we explained we couldn’t shut the wardrobe doors in the main bedroom but she explained they were the next job on the list to be replaced. Once done it will be perfect. Great access to run our dog in the adjacent field.

  • "The property was lovely & comfortable & the owner friendly, we really felt at home there, however the listing said enclosed garden & while we understand that this may not be fully possible, the fact that the rear (enclosed) garden joined up with the front (very much open) garden meant our dog had to be on a line every time he was outside, so really wasn't enclosed at all."

The cottage has everything you need and is like home from home with all facilities provided. The cottage has the most lbeautiful views with very well maintained garden which houses outdoor seating for dining as well as sun loungers which were very welcome during our trip. The host Alison was very welcoming on our arrival and friendly throughout our stay and the odd visit from the dogs was lovely. If you are looking for a welcoming and comfortable base to chill away from the rat race or looking for a base to explore Devon look no further. Highly recommend this cottage. Immaculate lawns, beautiful views & really friendly owners. You may look at the photos and think, that's lovely.... its better than that. There are only the 2 cottages with nothing around you except nature. Everything you need is there, even sun loungers which is a great bonus, they have thought of everything. Great walks, coast a short drive away but far away enough to be out of the bustle. Soooooo quiet. This is our 5th holiday through sykes over the years. We always try secluded for the peace and Dassel Cottage is by far the most impressive. We shall return again someday, even have fresh eggs every day. Never tried the pubs as when we got in after a day out it was feet up with a coffee. Beautiful weather, gorgeous sunsets Thankyou to Alison & Simon & the family for having us. Brett & Wendy
